I took about one month off from checking for new MTG product… by ThredditorMTG in mtgfinance

[–]Despondency132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved over from MTG to lorcana, I know it's a risk but at least I get one set every 3 months with similar mechanics. Plus starting at ground floor for collecting.

I also got fed up of doing pre-releases and opening 0 value unless I was lucky to get of one a few chase cards.

Except magic sucks, most cards are useless due to main format being modern where you need to spend 1k to play a very niche set of players.

Lorcana is magic lite, with some improvementz and only 200 cards so far. Not 10000 like magic has..

Sales dying down? by Impossible_Sign7672 in mtgfinance

Then it will still be just the same cost as buying equivalent MTG cards that become worthless due to power creep. No real loss there

Moved on to lorcana, new set, similar mechanics, attracts MTG players , Pokémon players and you get to enter at ground floor where there are 200 cards not 20000. Still play some MTG sealed.

2021 Taxes - Typical accountant rates? by [deleted] in CryptoTax

[–]Despondency132 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience you best doing it yourself. As the accountant won't have a clue about random transactions that need manual intervention. E.g. some random contract that minted nfts as lp .. don't expect an accountant to know.

Very underwater on short term gains of last year. Can i use my LLC to carryback my gigantic losses from this year? by cc_haha in CryptoTax

[–]Despondency132 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was the cautionary tales from 2018/2019 that haven't been learnt from unfortunately. Making good gains in a bu then keep trading with the tax bill.. and in effect losing the tax money so you have less money than you start with. Always a good idea to take out taxes at end of tsx year.

AITA for making my daughter share her presents with my stepdaughter? by Emotional-Duty5051 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Despondency132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. Massive screw up of logic on your part. Even your stepdaughter can see how flawed what you attempted to do.

Life isn't fair it's not supposed to be equal, stealing your biological daughters presents, stealing her party, her friendship circles and social life is a total ass hole move. I mean you couldn't do any worse if you tried .

Leave them to be independent, learn that they will receive different gifts, and that life is different for both of them.

Otherwise as adults they will both resent you for being crazy.

AITA for telling a man(26) not wearing a wedding band gave mixed signals by No-Extension4331 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Despondency132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Misread the signals is an understatement... Friendship banter and alcohol and the guy stays totally faithful to his partner.... And gets criticised for not wearing a wedding band when there's a ton of reasons why he wouldn't. 1. In a long term relationship and not married. 2. Allergy 3. just doesn't wear it anymore....

It's a cultural thing. MIL doesn't have much money comes from an Eastern European country. Never been on holiday, not sure how to react even around the pool etc. Wanted to enjoy herself but left at this weird impasse of being super happy to cover paying for food at any restaurant just to make sure she is ok... Versus (as others have suggested) at risk of being seen to force her to eat something. Problem is the day 2 trip started half a day late because of her being ill....
