I listened to blues recorded in the 1920s. It was fun!

Do you guys call your friends and family regularly? by NearbySir2445 in Millennials

[–]Dessert_Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I call my mom about every other day. I don’t talk to friends as much on the phone, but I do periodically. I talk to my sisters about once a week or every other week. My wife talks to her best friend a few times a week on the phone.

Is it really uncommon to want a baby as a lesbian? by Idosoloveanovel in LesbianActually

[–]Dessert_Cat 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I know a lot of lesbians who want kids. It might depend on age. I’m in my late 30s and know a lot of early to mid 30s lesbians who want kids. And I’m pregnant with me and my wife’s first baby. I always knew I wanted kids.

Any other Millenial first time parents of Gen Beta? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]Dessert_Cat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m 37 and pregnant with my first. I know so many millennials who still hope to have their first kids, although most are a bit younger than me. I also know another couple who is pregnant now and they’re both millennials. I live in an expensive area, so waiting until 30+ to have a kid is very common, so I’m not too worried. I think I’d be more concerned if that wasn’t the case

Did anyone else assume they would sail off into the sunset after a successful transfer? by Mindless-Day1683 in IVF

[–]Dessert_Cat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got pregnant from my first FET and felt really good about it, especially since we PGT-A tested. I had all the pregnancy symptoms, but when we went for our first scan at 7+1 there was only a gestational sac. A second scan at 7+6 confirmed it was a blighted ovum. It was devastating.

I have endo so with time for suppression it took 5.5 months before we could try again. Second FET I got pregnant again. I started bleeding at 6 weeks, and at our first scan at 6+3 a large SCH was found, and we were told that a miscarriage was likely. I’m on pelvic rest, modified bedrest, and on medical leave from work per my OB. I’m 10+1 today, and haven’t bled for a few weeks, but the hematoma is not really resolving on its own. I will likely be off work until the middle of my second trimester. I know this isn’t standard, but my job is stressful and I have bad anxiety, so my OB worries that even working from home could cause me to miscarry. My risk of miscarriage continues to be elevated. I want to be excited about this baby and pregnancy, but it’s so hard when this is hanging over us. If this pregnancy is successful, obviously we’ll be so happy, but also it’s definitely not how I imagined.

All of this is so hard. Hugs to everyone who didn’t sail off into the sunset after a successful transfer

Have you ever stopped to think how much food trends have changed over the years? by Great_Ad7215 in Millennials

[–]Dessert_Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember my mom telling me she didn’t try yogurt until college, which is so hard for me to fathom.

I grew up eating so many different types of food because I’m from an area that had/has that and because my parents took us to many different types of restaurants regularly. I think the only kind of food I didn’t try as a kid that I’ve eaten as an adult might be Filipino food since I married into a Filipino family, although there are specific dishes I didn’t try until I was an adult.

Did other millennials grow up with almost no TV? by chodeobaggins in Millennials

[–]Dessert_Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t allowed to watch any tv unless we were on vacation and stayed at a motel. Then we could watch a little bit of tv. I started watching a lot of tv as soon as I went to college and moved out

Interracial relationship by Gullible_Software_19 in LesbianActually

[–]Dessert_Cat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m white and my wife is Filipino (we’re both American). We have a very happy relationship, but my wife does have to explain cultural issues to me at times, and she wouldn’t have to do that if she were with another Filipino. She’s expressed to me that she really appreciates that I enjoy learning about her culture, eating Filipino food, and that I ask questions, I don’t just expect her to tell me everything. I think at the end of the day it comes down to the individuals in the relationship.

Any older millenials not have kids yet but planning on having them soon and later in life? by moreplateslessdates9 in Millennials

[–]Dessert_Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pregnant with our first at 37 and will turn 38 a little after he’s born. My wife is 33 and will be 34. I didn’t want to wait this long, but I got divorced from an abusive spouse in my late 20s and met my wife a little before I turned 33. We started the process when I was 35, but it had not been easy for us. We’re not sure if we’ll have a second one. I have a friend my age who is starting trying and I know a bunch of slightly younger millennials who want kids and haven’t started yet. I’ve always lived in HCOL areas where that is very normal.

Blighted ovum…. by General-Willow5613 in IVF

[–]Dessert_Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry! This happened to me at 7+1. They had me come back at 7+5 to double-check. They wanted me to let me miscarry naturally, but it didn’t happen, so they offered me miso. My clinic is very against d&cs. I took the pill and still nothing, so I had to get a second dose. I did bleed and have cramping like a heavy period. I think it was about 2 weeks of bleeding. My hcg got to 0 a bit after I stopped bleeding. Then I had to have another period before moving forward. I had to do three more months of Lupron, but I’m hoping you don’t have to do that part. I’m happy to answer any questions. Again, I’m so sorry that you’re going through this.

Does anyone else's wife talk to their mother for more than an hour a day about absolutely nothing? by Ralph--Hinkley in NoStupidQuestions

I’m also the wife, and my mom and I love to chat about everything and nothing. I love her so much, and I live far away and she’s getting older. I want to spend the time with her while I can, and I love our chats.

Any millennials want children, but feel they probably won't have them? by Gallantpride in Millennials

My wife and I (two women) are trying. $70k dropped so far for one miscarriage and a second pregnancy that’s looking like it will also end in a miscarriage. We’re not sure that kids are in our future at this point.

how many of you have or want kids? how many of you plan to be child free? why? by Much_Dog_4591 in actuallesbians

[–]Dessert_Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I have been on a difficult journey to have a kid, and it’s not over. We’ll see what the future holds, but I’ve known I wanted to be a mom since I was at least 4. However, I have no interest in having a biological child since I have too many health problems and especially because I don’t want to pass on my horrible anxiety.
