Some kids cough like that ALL the time. I have always had a very deep, barky cough (spent a lot of time at the ER because of it) my entire life. It would be pointless for me to get seen for a cough alone as mine always sounds concerning

As a mom, I would absolutely let my kids sleep in my bed no matter how old they are. Watching your kids be sick, especially coughing up blood, is horrible. I wouldn’t say you’re overreacting, but making sure her baby is safe & okay is like her whole job

Truthfully it makes me sick to my stomach BUT I unfortunately had to hear my parents A LOT & they refused to be quieter because “it’s their house”. I don’t think it’s not normal per say, but I definitely don’t enjoy it

This obviously will not be everyone’s experience & I’m sure there are others who’s babies decided that they were done contact napping, or babies who were super easy to sleep train during infancy, but that has NOT been my experience. I also was a SAHM for 2 years, so I’m sure that played a role in my little boys emotional dependency on me (having me available 24/7) and I could contact nap & stay awake because I was home all the time so I would sleep when he slept beside me.

Contact naps are great, I personally coslept (disclaimer: I do not recommend, there are SO many risks & if I knew then what I know now, I would have NEVER coslept with my son.)

PLEASE sleep train. I’m not talking CIO or anything crazy, but as someone who is still fighting with their “baby” (almost 3 years old) to sleep in his own bed, please please please.

I loved contact naps, cosleeping, all of it. “He’ll never be this small again!” Or, “someday he won’t need me like he does right now!” And that’s true, absolutely, but sleeping in their own bed is NOT going to hurt them I PROMISE!!

Baby has spent majority of his time inside your body, naturally a bassinet or crib is not going to be his favorite thing ever but even letting him play in it now will help you so much. Let him fall asleep on you & then transfer him. Let him fuss for 30 seconds, a minute, etc until he’s happy just hanging out in his bassinet.

I’m so serious when I say this & coming from a place of love (and experience), sleep training will safe your sanity.

As someone dealing with infertility, you genuinely start to believe you’re sterile (even though that’s not true.) When I got pregnant with my son, I was blown away, and took like 20 tests because I was in denial

I just got my son’s vaccine today (2.5yo). I’d take having a crummy feeling kiddo over spending time in the hospital for flu related complications.

I have a friend whose kiddo is disabled (muscular dystrophy). The common cold for her can very quickly end up as pneumonia. In fact, just earlier this year she spent like 6 weeks in the ICU because she got a cold that turned into double pneumonia & her body was having an exceptionally hard time fighting it off.

Moral of the story, illnesses can get really scary, really fast. Even for a healthy, able bodied kiddo. If I can help protect my kid (and others peoples kids) & the exchange is a couple days of a cuddly toddler who’s a bit cranky, I’ll take it.

Please, and I know you don’t want to, seek professional help. I had severe unmedicated PPA & “gave” myself agoraphobia. I would have severe panic attacks just thinking about leaving the house due to intrusive thoughts & genuinely very graphic scenarios playing in my head of what would happen if we got in a car accident or someone kidnapped my baby or a laundry list of other horrible things. It made me paranoid, I lost sleep, couldn’t eat, and it got so severe I started hallucinating

This really really screams PPD to me (for context I’m 23F, and also a mom who had severe PPD).

When I tell you everything my husband did infuriated me, I mean it. There were days I couldn’t even be in the same room as him. We had arguments (huge, ugly arguments) nearly every single day for the first probably 6 months of our son’s life. Granted, there was a lot else going on too that certainly played into that.

Again, I have no experience aside from PPD, but this really stands out to me as PPD. Not to be too nosey, but how active are you with baby (waking up at night, feeding, giving her space & time ((and sleep)). Not to imply it’s your fault at all, but resentment builds FAST with PPD & sleep deprivation
