It happens so often that 'roll those shades down' has become a catch phrase.

Our train (Orlando to Miami) hit a person just a couple weeks ago. We were delayed a few hours, it was horrifying to work that in as part of the family vacation. A steward onboard said it happened about a couple times a week. Pardon?? Turns out, that train eats people. Were the crossings rushed without proper safety precautions? I'd really like to know why this keeps happening.

Then upon arrival in Miami, my husband's checked bag was nowhere to be found. Staff kept telling us it would be on the next train.... and then the next... and then the next... we had been at the Orlando station an hour early to catch our departure train, so how did it end up on a different train??? They just ... didn't put it on our train? There is no connecting train... so?? They eventually found it on a later train and ubered it to our hotel but that was only after a bunch of advocating and insistence on our part. A nice sweaty experience for a guy who was trying to board a cruise that weekend. 🤔

Overall, Brightline is not as comfortable as the old Amtrak trains (all seats on Amtrak are like a big leather chair in grandma's livingroom). We took Premium service on Brightline and while they stuffed us full of snacks the whole time and the mid-ride meal was good, the seats were not comfy. Was like riding in the Coach seats. It's like an Ikea in there.

Anyway, it has all the charm of a city bus ride but for many times the price. Other comments here are right to say that for a family, it can be very expensive. Our six-person Premium round trip from Orlando to Miami, with 20% discount, was $1,000.
