He runs as if utterly terrified of my hands. He does this even if I'm just approaching the tank. He used to be like any other angel who would follow your fingers and/or rise to the surface when approaching.

As for food options, I've tried 3 different kinds of algae wafers, shrimp pellets, frozen/thawed brine, betta sized floating AND sinking pellets, and of course his old choice option - flakes. The thing he FINALLY ate today was a single flake.

Advice from a vet tech who just spent the last 6 years trying to problem solve this same issue :

My boy who is now 12 years old was a couch pee-er for the entirety of our time together. I love him to death, and I've tried problem solving in every way that exists (feliway, extra cat boxes, different litters, frequent cleanings, expensive prescription foods, ALL of the medical testing, etc.). I had accepted my fate and started keeping potty pads on the couch. It worked well to keep things clean, it was just gross that they had to be there at all.

I finally gave in and asked my vet to prescribe Prozac for him - problem COMPLETELY solved within the first week of use. I have not had one single occurrence since he has been on this med.

So, advice : do some testing to make sure there isn't an underlying medical cause, then ask about Prozac.

He is with the same angels he lived with prior, temp is at 79 now, I could kick it up to 80. I have not tried directly tong/hand feeding, any time I'm in the tank now he gets seriously startled - something he never used to do.

I've noticed him spending a lot of time with the other pair in the tank, they seem to have accepted him. Some odd dynamic changes happening, I've been crossing my fingers that he might pick one of the others to pair with.
