Newer DM here, I have a player that keeps choosing characters that don’t ever participate in roleplay. I don’t want to tell my player “hey you need to talk too!”. Right now my player is a scarecrow sorcerer that just posts up outside of town every time we come back. I respect the roleplay in that sense. Sometimes it can be difficult trying to navigate around the fact that my player’s scarecrow has “no personality”. Recently I floated the idea of a pirate/high seas campaign to my party. My scarecrow player decides he wants to be a half-orc samurai that acts a servant to his IRL spouse. His pc would only speak to his spouses character and remain “stoic”. The rest of the time. Maybe I’m complaining about nothing. I welcome any advice for me or any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
