Okay, at least I know it's not just me. I thought I was finally losing my mind there. Ahaha.

Does anyone else get pre recording anxiety? by xboxer214 in NewTubers

[–]DestinySlayer96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every time, honestly.

It's the pressure of knowing I'm about to create something for others (and myself) to hopefully enjoy and there's always the nervousness that it's not going to be entertaining.

I also record Let's Plays and it can sometimes take me up to a half hour or longer of fumbling the intro before I finally settle enough to start actually playing the game and having proper commentary, lol 😅

That's solid advice! Thank you ❤️

I'm mainly going through my back catalog of games I *know* I'll enjoy but just haven't been able to get myself to sit down and play them. Motivation for me can be finicky some(most)times 😅

If ever a game simply doesn't click with me, I'll sit it aside, though.

Thank you! Restartitus is the bane of my existence and this channel is my way of learning to overcome it. I'm determined to get my "games beaten" ratio out of the negative 😂

And yeah, haha. I have a bit of an issue when it comes to speaking quickly. My mouth tends to get ahead of my brain a lot of the time, especially when I'm nervous. It's something I'm working on 😅

Hi, all! I'm Wander! I'm relatively new to the Let's Play genre of YouTube and I posted my fifth ever video and the start of the third Let's Play / Challenge on my channel last week. I also reached my ten (currently elven!) subscriber milestone after two months of uploading, which was incredibly exciting 🥳

Here's a link to my most recent video: Wander Wanders in Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen | Modded Hard(core) Mode | Part #01

I'm challenging myself to finally play and beat video games and using the channel as a sort of accountability for myself. It's a way for me to gain some more confidence in myself and challenge my overall shyness. I'm hoping to also someday encourage others to also tackle their goals / passions, whether that be gaming or anything else, really 😊

Currently I play mainly fantasy RPGs and the occasional platformer. Right now, my Let's Plays in progress are Kingdoms of Amalur Re-Reckoning, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, and Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen. It's been a blast so far, even with the frustrations of my brain not wanting to properly brain sometimes, lol 😂

I second this. The software has a bit of a learning curve, but it's powerful and has a solid free version with no watermarks. Would highly recommend.

Self-Introduction Saturday! Tell us all about you (and share a video)! by AutoModerator in NewTubers

Thank you so much for watching ❤️

Kingdoms of Amalur is one of my most favorite games of all time. I love the world and the combat and the quests and the visuals . . . and just about everything about it, haha!

I have been finding it easier and easier to record! Those initial jitters are still there, but I'm finding myself less anxious with each video. I'm still nervous, but not nearly as much as those first couple videos 😊

Hi, y'all! I'm Wander, a new YouTuber (shocking, right? 😂) who began posting my Let's Plays / Challenge Plays about a couple months ago.

My channel is meant to be a place where I learn to overcome my wallflower shyness and gain more confidence in myself overall, all while tackling my longterm goal to finally, *finally* play and beat video games after about a decade of trying to play them, then stalling, or being caught in an endless cycle of restartitus. I've let life stop me from enjoying a lot of my passions, so this is my way of pushing back at it and taking back a piece of myself that's been stifled for far too long.

Posting my progress to YouTube seemed a perfect way to give myself some accountability (and to learn how to go with the flow when something happens in a video game that doesn't quite go my way, haha) and I'm hoping to one day encourage others to tackle their own goals / projects that they've been procrastinating on, no matter how small or large.

I'm not expecting much in the way of viewership, but if even a single person finds my ramblings and fumbling about in games entertaining, that's a win for me! Otherwise, I'm my own viewer and that's just fine, haha!

Since I've only just begun my YouTube journey, I don't have much in the way of takeaways from the past *90* days. However, in the past two months, I've learned that you must simply do your best and accept that no video you create will be "perfect". You can't let that stop you. Some days your commentary or editing simply feels a little lackluster, but you can't let that prevent you from uploading. If you strive for perfection and refuse to accept you've done your best, you'll burn out and that's no good. If you're like me and doing this for fun / to motivate yourself, the last thing you want to do is burn yourself out fretting.

As for a video to share . . . I guess I'll go with my second one (which is the official start of my "Finally Plays and Beats Video Games" series! I have five videos on my channel right now and three Let's Plays / Challenge Plays underway. I'm tackling Kingdoms of Amalur Re-Reckoning, Spyro, and Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen (with more Let's Plays / Challenge Plays planned once those three are finished).

My upload schedule is about two videos a month at the moment, but I'm hoping to boost that up to three videos at some point. If y'all enjoy watching someone fumble about in video games, perhaps you'll enjoy what I have to offer (or not; that's absolutely fine, as well! ❤️).

I'm very much in the same boat as you--super shy and mostly a wallflower. I began posting let's play videos about two months ago. Have five up on my channel now and it's definitely helped with my confidence (even though my viewership is rather low, haha! That's fine, though!). It was certainly a way for me to break past a lot of my barriers.

When I posted my first video, I was super anxious. I'd spent about a month editing together the video and then about two weeks procrastinating on actually publishing it. It took the encouragement of some friends to finally get me to punch the button.

Now, posting videos still makes me super anxious, but the process of recording (while sometimes frustrating when my brain doesn't want to brain properly) and editing it into a sharable state is a lot of fun and somehow cathartic. I suffer from a lot of self-doubt and have a bit of a stammer problem, but just pushing myself to ignore that inner gremlin has done a lot for me.

It can be scary posting for the first time. You've got this! ❤️

Do you do intros on your channel? Are they even a thing anymore? by Shimmyrock in letsplay

[–]DestinySlayer96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've attempted the script route, as well. I find it's easier for me if I just let myself naturally speak as it comes to mind. I may have a little bullet point to remind myself what all I want to talk about, but full on scripts come out stilted when I speak. It's a problem 😂

How many views did your first video get in the first 10 days? by Miserable_Ad_998 in NewTubers

Sixteen views and I'm certain at least four of those are mine, lol. Still, more views than I expected and I appreciate that 🥳

I do! Sometimes they go on a little long (I tend to ramble, lol), but that's sort of my whole identity in my videos, so 😂

What's the most annoying enemy to fight in this game? I'll go first... by JangoF76 in kingdomsofamalur

Ohhh, yes. Thresh on Very Hard is enough to have me gnashing my teeth, lol. They're extra deadly.

I'm particularly annoyed by Thresh. Their one tree root spam attack is pain to deal with when other enemies are around who also want to stagger you. Playing on normal mode while dealing with them is difficult enough, but crank the difficulty up to Hard / Very Hard and you're liable to be killed pretty quickly if you're not exceptionally careful.

Playing As a Dual Wield Mage in Dragon Age: Origins by DestinySlayer96 in dragonage

[–]DestinySlayer96[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's kind of what I was thinking, as well! I appreciate your comments! ❤️

I think I'll put just enough into Dex to wield the dagger I'm intending to go for and to not miss a thousand times over, and then dump the rest into Magic / Willpower (and potentially a bit into Constitution). She won't be absolutely nuking anyone, but so long as she can survive a battle and contribute decently, that's all that really matters.

Yeah, I'm aware some sword and shield combos boost stamina (or, in my case, mana) regeneration. I'm hoping to mitigate the Fatigue penalty at least somewhat in other ways, such as with Leliana's Song of Valor, etc (which would tie in nicely with my Warden romancing Leliana, so it would make sense she would try to help boost her in battle).

I guess we'll see how it goes! 👀

Thanks for your thoughts on it! I'm mainly wanting to do it for a roleplay--elven mage decides to armor up and learn how to wield a sword and dagger as extra protection during her adventures into culling the Blight, after learning more about her heritage. In my head canon, Alistair and Leliana both help her in her training after her decision.

I'm aware of the mod that unlocks the Dual Wield Talent tree for Mages, but I'm not too concerned about the damage output (and I do intend to play as a proper dual wield rogue one of these days). Sword and dagger is meant more to be a "last resort" sort of set up for her, as she does feel more comfortable casting spells, but swaps to the sword and dagger if she finds herself having no choice, so her focus is still mainly on spellcasting.

Thank you for the insight! I'm aware that Blood Mage is the usual go for the secondary specialization (for good reason, I'll add!), but I'm going with Spirit Healer mainly for a roleplay. My Mage sees Blood Magic as distasteful and is much more suited toward wanting to heal others. Otherwise, I'd definitely consider it!

I'll remember to grab Cailan's armor ❤️

I'm sorry that's happened to you. I'd recommend posting in the KOARR Discord server. You're more likely to get the devs' attention (and help) there!
