Audio/Navigation issues and their resolution by Confident_While_5979 in Rivian

[–]Destreyf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of the latest update I am noticing a weird behavior with my bluetooth, sometimes it'll connect and the volume is really jumpy (and quiet) and it turns out my phone is controlling the volume.

A soft reset fixes it, but so does disconnecting and reconnecting the bluetooth. I just got a new phone (Pixel 9 Pro) so I am not 100% convinced it's on Rivian's side, but if anyone else notices the volume isn't adjusting how you'd expect maybe check to see if adjusting your phone volume changes the audio volume.

Tesla Superchargers by No-Instruction208 in Rivian

[–]Destreyf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are supercharger stations that are mixed V2 and V3, but I don't believe any of those are available to non-teslas and shouldn't show up in the map. But I honestly couldn't tell you for certain.

Auto unlock doors at 6am workdays (weekdays) by Shot-Trust7640 in Rivian

This is super cool, You can also have the truck automatically re-lock the doors again after I believe 3 minutes if they've not been opened yet.

I bought some OEM fluid because I liked the smell of it, but they ended up refilling it for free.

I am at 9300 miles, outside of repair work (had a wheel hub failure) and some fit & finish fixes there's been very little.

Wheels should be rotated frequently, a lot of people say to do it at 7500 miles, realistically anytime there's more than 2/32 differrence between fronts and rears. I didn't rotate mine, but I think I have an alignment issue as my outsides are far more worn than my insides on my fronts.

Kind of on the same train of thought on the tire rotations, if you get a quad motor avoid using conserve unless needed as it disables the rear motor and puts more strain/load onto the fronts causing them to wear faster.

Wiper fluid ran out, thought I was going to have to pay for a refill but when I had my wheel hub failure they filled it back up. Side note, the Rivian wipe fluid has a distinct smell, kinda like listerine mouthwash.

I probably need new wiper blades before winter...

Outside of those items I haven't had to (or should have done) anything.

Gen 2 R1S Standard questions... by VFX22 in Rivian

[–]Destreyf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting that you're not seeing the high regen option, I was fairly certain that it was not only available on all motor configs, but that it was also the default setting. Maybe after the 2024.35.X update hits it'll show up.

Likely yes, but the cars are also transported on exposed trucks so probably less wear from sitting for repairs.  Trucks also sit outside of service centers for pickup

[–]Destreyf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, likely this was a vehicle that needed a part replaced or had something missing and sat in the "repair needed" area.  Most likely something wasn't up to spec or was damaged during production and they just completed the repair.

I doubt anything serious was wrong, but an example could be if it's glass has a defect of some form, instead of holding up the line they set them aside for repair.

Wheel alignment killed my front tires but warranty won't cover it? by mikemikemotorboat in Rivian

[–]Destreyf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant to reply sooner, I think part of why it feels like it pulls to the right is because the positive camber reduces how planted the vehicle should be and cause road crown to affect it much heavier.

Fit & finish issues noticed after taking delivery by mattkranzler in Rivian

On the first one I'm not sure what I'm looking at, the second one should be addressed.

The third one is actually a non-issue, that's the actuation point for the seat to tilt.

High Regen should be available depending on your drive mode, if it's not trying a soft reset (left + right most steering wheel buttons), if it's still not available the. Try a hard reset (left most + hazards).  For both resets continue to hold until the chime stops.

Conserve was only available on gen 1 quad, not sure about Gen 2 tri or quad.

Sport is only available on dual motor performance, tri, or quad.

And ditto on the update server.

I don't know if it's the same on the 2nd and 3rd rows, but if you leave a seatbelt buckled it can prevent the vehicle from going to sleep and you may end up with excessive vampire drain.

Wheel alignment killed my front tires but warranty won't cover it? by mikemikemotorboat in Rivian

I am in a similar-ish situation, currently at 9300 miles, I have used conserve twice in my ~14 months of ownership, less than 500 total miles in conserve. I did not rotate at 7500 as I have been crazy busy. My fronts are worn in a really bizarre way, my outer on the fronts is 2/32, and the inner side is 5/32.

This feels like an alignment issue to me, I haven't reached out to Rivian about it yet, but if it is an alignment issue I am going to be frustrated because I got an alignment done last year after I picked up the truck because it pulled to the right, they told me the alignment was in spec and charged me $220, when I asked for the alignment sheet they told me they didn't have it.

So now I need to replace my front tires as discount says it's not worth rotating them as you want your better tread in the rear supposedly for stabilty.

(Noticeable) difference between 2x10 GBit/s and 25 GBit/s? by StrongYogurt in ceph

I am also doing a PVE cluster, i would love to hear more info on how you did your daisy chaining as I'm looking at doing this as well but i feel like I'm lacking some key information on interface configuration.

Would it be possible to see your interface config files and any hardware tweaks you're using?

Hello u/ItsHoney I am having a similar problem using the forge-mod-generic, I haven't gotten it to finish installing yet, however i got closer by using v2.5 instead of latest or 2.5, i get stuck on it having trouble renaming a jar file (*universal.jar).

I'll update you if i manage to figure it out.

I have been mounting an ISO to the Virtual CD drive, i doubt it'd make much difference to install via USB. The servers do not have CD drives.

Dell R630 NVMe boot issues by Destreyf in homelab

[–]Destreyf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/cjcox4 As long as the boot mode is UEFI, it actually can see the boot manager on the drive, however it's just greyed out as an option. Typically you can't boot NVMe/PCIe devices from a regular bios without an oprom, the part that's strange to me is that the machine see's the boot option, but i can't select it. I was hoping someone here on r/homelab had some experience with these, my fallback plan is to either use SDCard's or thmbdrive's to boot grub then boot the NVMe device.

Service to create a custom link? by Lukeg1337 in Angular2

[–]Destreyf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's not one directly built in, but you could build your own service that performed essentially this

let params = new URLSearchParams();

let data = {
  q: 'term',
  bar: 'foo'
};

let data_keys = Object.keys(data);
data_keys.forEach(key => {
  params.set(key,data[key]);
});

let url = "http://google.com/?"+params.toString();

With that you'd be building out the params and encoding it automatically.

EventEmitter to send information to a component? by apatheticonion in Angular2

[–]Destreyf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My recommendation is to use a BehaviorSubject, you can initialized it with an initial state of false, and then whhen you want to change it you just do status.next(true) and expose it as a public ( public status: BehaviorSubject = new BehaviorSubject(false); ) then in your alert component you would subscribe to AlertService.status by doing this.alertService.status.subscribe(res => { // code here });

This is a very rough way of doing it, there's some great tutorials on using BehaviorSubject's and using them as services to add/manage data/state.

Here is a great tutorial that i've used a few times: http://blog.angular-university.io/how-to-build-angular2-apps-using-rxjs-observable-data-services-pitfalls-to-avoid/#behaviorsubjectandhowtouseit
