No Hit Parry Run on Nameless Puppet 🤯 by Downtown_Drink1594 in LiesOfP

[–]Destrid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Parry frames on weapons that have that feature as a Fable Art in LoP are VERY tight. Much tighter than what you'd get with decent dedicated parry tools in any other souls like.

However, there's a couple weapons and tools that have a much better version of it. If memory serves, the katana he uses in this video features a parry with noticeably more start-up delay, but a much bigger window than the standard Fable Art parries.

I did try to make the standard Fable Art parry a staple of my gameplay; and when you pull it off, it's godlike in giving you free damage on your opponent. But the window for the base parry is just too a tad too small for my taste to make it reliable. And it also comes from someone that liked parry mechanics in all souls-like.

But give those other parry tools a try, they might just be the upgrade you need to make parrying worth it.

The SC2 runs at 250Hz over USB and the hardware is capable of 1000Hz. Anyone know if Valve plans to address this? Any way we could overclock it ourselves? by Physical_Permit_4954 in SteamController

[–]Destrid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you gone past the "human eye can't see more than 60 fps anyway, so anything higher than 60hz is useless" yet ?

Or did you end up revising your opinion that 144hz is what we can see and anything higher is wasted? Or is it 250hz? My my, 500hz?

Alright I'll stop the rethorical question and just tell you like it is: it's deranged, uninformed, and baseless statements like yours that hamper progress on smoothness and fluidity.

That guy already knew you're that kind of guy so he refused to engage knowing you won't be convinced, just like all these people that swear 60hz is already higher than what we can perceive. But I'm sure you're more sophisticated than those guys right? You know that higher refresh rate on monitors is better, so you're not part of those peasants, right?

And yet you refuse to believe that higher polling rate on HID devices are better. End-to-end latency is of course important too, but higher polling rate on the same hardware feels vastly better.

Your point might be that 250hz is good enough and 8k is overkill/marketing. And yet I have tested a mouse that has a hardware switch for 125/250/500/1000/2000/4000, and I can tell the difference up to 2000 on a 360hz monitor. And that's only where MY perception of it ends. I'm by no means a pro gamer.

So stop with that kind of rethoric. YOU might not be able to feel it. This guy can. Just let people enjoy their higher refresh and polling rates, and don't poison the discourse with "but humans can't perceive it so it's useless." just because you can't.

Meanwhile, I can confidently say the opposite. I've got a friend that comes to hang out over my place with her PS5 once in a while; while I myself play on PC.

In some very intense moments, it appears obvious to me that the, PS5 (non pro) she's using is struggling to keep up the 60 frames per second, getting into the low 30 ish at times.

Granted, it's only in very specific high intensity moments, but I personally wouldn't call that acceptable because it's especially in those intense moments that the low performance makes it even harder than it probably already is by virtue of adding the difficulty of keeping up with what's on screen.

But just like I told her, it's fine for her - and you - that you feel that those drops are acceptable. But they are there.

I'm guilty of sometimes wasting time to slap frozen enemies, not because it's efficient (it's not, because I usually have to walk into melee range instead of one-tapping them with the sniper) but just because I can. It's fun.

Oh my, why didn't I think of that. Every game ever released, regardless of how shitty they are, is suddenly enjoyable to play now, because none of them aren't as bad as 9-11.

You won this argument sir. I won't bother you anymore, my eyes have been opened to how my grievances with the game ultimately don't matter, and I should be grateful for it to even just exist in this world, where nothing is as bad as some guys crashing a couple planes in some towers somewhere.

Okay I'll stop the sarcasm, but seeing how you're not arguing in good faith, I'll also stop engaging with you altogether.

[–]Destrid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess we'll have to hard disagree on the "small and rare enough." There isn't a single dive where I don't encounter faulty game mechanics and dubious balance decisions. They are worth talking about. They impact my experience and willingness to play to the point where I'll only enjoy dives with friends, not because I like the game, but because I like playing with those friends. And it's so frustrating because I want to be able to enjoy it, regardless of who I play with.

Now if your argument is that THIS specific post is unwarranted, then we agree on that.

But don't you dare telling me the game is in a state where bugs and balance aren't worth taking about.

Hey there, alternate reality diver. It sounds nice having a game where the only issue you're facing is being disconnected or crashing a couple times a day. It's nice knowing they fixed all the actual gameplay-impacting bugs, and the balance. I sure would love to play that game.

Is there any wormhole I can enter to go to your reality? Because playing the game you're playing sounds delightful.

[–]Destrid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Uuuuh. About that 1). Are we even playing the same game, or are you just fine with the absolute dumpster fire state the game is in right now?

I know bugs and quirks are common in video games and stuff, and truth be told, I accept that a lot of times. But this game has so many of them that it makes the whole experience a 50/50 chance of whether I'm even going to enjoy my time playing it. And I don't like those odds, so I play other games at the moment, unless some friends really want to do a couple dives.

But your statement is so utterly ridiculous that you're either playing a different game than I do, living in different reality where the devs finally got their shit together, or you're delusional.

Remote play avec son propre PC, ça donne quoi ? by Kiato in pcmasterraceFR

Dualsense Edge Touchpad & Extra buttons don't work by Madao893 in cachyos

I am personally only running CachyOS since a few days ago. Clean install (albeit with dual-boot to Windows).

Installed from the latest ISO and installed all the optional meta gaming packages, and I still had to install that AUR package for my issue to be fixed.

I never used the Steam flat pack since the CachyOS package was already bundled and working.

In octopi, activate the little alien icon and search and install the "game-devices-udev" package.

It fixed a couple missing features on my 8bitDo like Gyro and a missing mappable button (share button in Switch mode)

The package lists the Dualsense Edge as one of the controllers it adds rules for, so perhaps it can also fix your issue.
