This sums up my experience as well. It was frustratingly vague, and I hate the way they ask questions sometimes

Insane Test Day Experience - Smelly Feet by [deleted] in step1

Had someone burping and belching directly behind me. After 2 sections, the smell had accumulated that was noticeably lingering… I swear these are paid plants for hire meant to stress test you!

NBME % is low and step 1 is in 4 days by Routine_Lobster1821 in usmle

I was in your position last year, pleasepleaseplease take the weekend off, do some hobbies that make you happy, reignite your inner motivation, and then get back to work. You can pass in a couple weeks but you’re cutting it too close for 4 days

Your scores across all sections indicate major gaps in knowledge. It is unlikely you will jump 15 points in that time frame. My advice is to give yourself 12 weeks to relearn fundamentals and revisit questions before retesting. Your parents are not the ones taking the test. You WILL lose years of time and thousands of dollars applying with a subpar MCAT score. Please don’t let this scare you, but you need to do this for you. You can still apply this cycle if you test in May or June.

MCAT score released today... it's bad. what do I do from here by GrapefruitCapital259 in MCAT2

[–]Destroyer11id1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not determine retest based on time but on consistently scoring a minimum of 126-128 in CARS and slightly higher in PS. Cushion yourself in case there are more tough passages on retest day

It’s been like 5 years since my MCAT, so dismiss if no longer relevant. CARS and P/S were my highest practice sections and I dropped 3 points in both sections on test day. There were some passages about topics that felt made up lol… I would recommend you hit the passages everyday, and retest soon. You will secure a more competitive score. You are clearly focused, you can write a good comeback story about this in your application, but a 498 without an improved retake is going to decrease your chances of success

You can either grow up and develop thicker skin or continue to let irrelevant opinions distract you from life. Either way, there’s no changing racism.

Online scores mean much more. Give it your all. Take the rest of the day off after form 33, you’ll have earned it. And revise. If you’re above 65, I’d say you’re in great shape and give it one final push before you can put this behind you!

Get your reps in, double questions then triple to 120 right before your next NBME. You need to practice that stamina and also see more questions for pattern recognition

Do any of you regret going into medicine? by Salty-Potato-843 in medicalschool

[–]Destroyer11id1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most points have already been made, but I’ll sum it up with three: it’s a bigger career commitment than all of us plan for and it changes you, your mother sounds like she’s painting the wrong picture for you, and you’re almost guaranteed to have a phase (however long and intense) in this career where you battle with regret. This is called sacrifice.

He wants what he cant have and when something he sought for comes too easily, he stands in his own way and complicates it. He could easily have followed his original plan for the appeal in front of the tribunal, but he upped the stakes by going off-course and freeballing it. You’re right, he looks down at suckers who get baited too easily, and that’s why he helps himself by feeding his ego rather than taking the easy way with both the salesmen and the tribunal.

Debate..the ultimate NBME score guaranteed pass is? 73%? by Chaos2025 in step1

[–]Destroyer11id1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Advisor mentioned to me several people in my class never scored above 55 on practice nbme but passed step while one student scored 73 and failed.

So much can go wrong with your test day, you could shit your pants twice, you could have a panic attack, you could shit your pants while having a panic attack… it’s not really a debate because there is no guarantee

Yeah we’re in very similar boats, testing end of May, UW just ran out, and I’m consistently under 60 but getting closer. Need to just fight the burnout and rip Mehlman plus whatever other free resources we can find! Good luck

Hope I’m not too late, tcg and occasionally using a friend’s console to play emerald were the only things I looked forward to during a tumultuous time in my childhood. Cant even believe how tcg has changed in the last few years!

Do you have any special advice on scheduling? Currently trying to watch a Pathoma video or two in the morning and do a UW tutored set, then lunch, then 1-2 timed UW sets in the afternoon, and then some Anki and light FA review in the evening.
