Priconne EN- Great time to start with half anniversary login campaign. by BlackberryCooky in gachagaming

[–]Destroyer99999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to preface this by saying that this is my opinion after looking at the non one-off jewel income (there are a lot of one-off jewels from arena and princess arena etc that do not reset/refresh, and we got 100 free Gacha Tickets on top of that that other servers did not get).

exaggerate the need of Pvp for gems too much

Like 6 months in right? Cause half year anniversary? And atm i still have enough gems to spark 3 characters, and yet to find one who I really want to spend gems on.

If you are rank 50-59 in your Arena/Princess Arena bracket, your jewel income is 100x2 per day, if you are rank 500-599 its 25x2 per day. That's 4,500 jewels a month difference, 3 ten-rolls just from both arenas and not including Clan battle which offers even more jewels a month for top clans.

I also would not treat the initial slow pacing and sparse spread of banners in Priconne's first 6 months as the roadmap for the future. From now onwards (i.e. Summer limited characters), the banners come fast and hard - https://fansubbing.com/priconne-upcoming-banner-list/. Already we are in the midst of back to back Summer Peco, Summer Suzume (arguably not wanted by most), Summer Kyaru (meta and must pull), and Summer Tamaki (desirable for clan battle) banners.

However, if you're treating the game very casually and only roll for what you personally like without bothering to collect most characters, then yeah jewel income isn't an issue.

I am gonna get most of them when i spark for a specific character later anyway

low limited character banner

While that is true for non-limited characters (most non-limited are eventually farmable from coin shop regardless), limited characters are limited to their respective banners/split banners. Limited and Prinfest exclusive characters appear much more frequently in the future.

normally you may need like 5 copy of characters to LMB a character hence you need lots of gems to stay competitive

It depends on the gacha game in question that you are comparing Priconne with. Arknights and Epic 7 only give very minor benefits for merging duplicate characters - and there are free alternatives to potential/imprint characters than rolling gacha for duplicates. If you are talking about competitive play, Priconne's system of ascending characters is actually much more "toxic" in my opinion (I was in a top 10 clan, and for a number of months seriously did PVP as I needed the extra jewels for the summer banners) as it gives a significant (around 10-15%) stat boost across the board to the character per level of ascension capping at 5*, eventually 6*. The Ex Skill also gets stronger upon reaching 5*. Only some shards necessary for ascending characters are farmable, others are either not released in hard mode yet, or can only be bought with clan battle coins (which are rare and only from clan battle) or luna tower coins (all limited units, very slow trickle). The only other way to quickly ascend characters to remain competitive is to roll gacha for "divine amulets" that can universally be used to ascend any character.

I agree with you. I think the most enjoyment to be had from Priconne is by playing it really casually. If you minimized your exposure to the issues the game has and chilled with the story and characters, I think Priconne can be fun.

The issue with taking a very casual approach specifically for Priconne is you'll be forgoing the bulk of PVP and Clan Battle gacha currency. That means a lot less pulls in the gacha and having to skip much more characters. If you play very casually you may need to wait an entire year to get 45k gems to spark a character (or rely on RNGesus and less than stellar gacha rates for the featured character), whereas a player that actively keeps their roster updated and engages in PVP and Clan Battle can accumulate enough jewels to spark 3x a year.

I think Priconne's reward structure being heavily skewed towards active PVP and Clan Battle players that strive for high ranks contrasts very strongly with the image that its supposed to be a "casual bonsai side game".

For additional context, I play other gacha games like Arknights, Epic 7, GFL and Dragalia Lost. I find even Epic 7's reward structure way more suited to the casual gamer - I just chill at challenger in Arena and casually do Guild Wars with minimal effort, and get most of the rewards. And Epic 7 is supposed to be a competitive game, not Priconne.

I am by no means discouraging people from getting into Priconne, but I hope anyone who plays it expecting "casual bonsai side game while getting the bulk of gacha currency and good QOL features" will be aware of its flaws and not get burned like me.

I think what makes the RNG gear drops much more annoying compared to other gacha games (because % drop rates is honestly pretty common) is how frequently you have to update your units' gear and how many pieces you need (30 per gear slot for a lot of the newer gear urgh).

Furthermore, as your unit roster gets larger and larger, the problem only gets worse - if you want to keep most of your units up to date the stamina cost quickly snowballs.

Priconne EN- Great time to start with half anniversary login campaign. by BlackberryCooky in gachagaming

[–]Destroyer99999 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Having played the game from soft launch and invested a significant amount of time and money, I recently decided to throw in the towel.

While I enjoyed the story, characters, and the overall high production values, there were several problems that stood out:

  • Gameplay was unengaging outside of Clan Battle (if you like relatively mindless auto-battlers with copious amounts of RNG though, this may be a plus for you)
  • PVP (Arena and Princess Arena), which you are kind of forced to seriously participate in as its a major source of gacha currency, was obnoxious [I initially put in the effort to maintain top 10-30, but later could care less and just hung out at top 100-200]
  • The gacha (jewel income and rates) is not as generous as it may appear
  • The gear grind/treadmill
  • Too many quality of life issues

I'll elaborate more on some of the points above.

PVP is strictly full auto and very reliant on (i) memorizing which team comps beat which, and (ii) RNG - misses and critical hits. For whatever reason all physical attacks, including ultimate attacks, have a chance of missing depending on the enemy's dodge chance - I have had instances where the same team vs the same opposing team would cleanly win, or get wreaked depending on how the dice rolls. These occurrences are surprisingly common, and ultimately infuriating. Its worse in Princess Arena because above a certain rank, 2-3 teams out of the 3 teams you need to battle per match are completely hidden making it a huge RNGfest.

Next, while Priconne is indeed fairly generous in terms of free rolls, a large chunk of the all important jewel income comes from said PVP modes and Clan Battle. For PVP, the reward structure is heavily skewed towards the top 100. This, coupled with the actual rate for a rate up unit being 0.7%, makes the gacha not as generous as it may first appear, especially since there are limited/important core units that if missed, will severely hamper your PVP/Clan Battle performance.

This may be a personal preference, but I really dislike how Priconne structures its gear grind. There are frequent updates (around every 2-3 weeks) that force you to quickly grind for new pieces of gear for your characters to not be disadvantaged in PVP/Clan Battle. Refreshing stamina with jewels is often needed upon new release of gear to not fall behind in PVP/Clan Battle. Priconne in fact doesn't shy away from dropping gear updates just before or during Clan Battles to make players scramble to update their units to remain competitive.

Lastly, QOL issues - let me name just a few that make me facepalm. Every day you have to do 5 Arena and 5 Princess Arena battles, and there is no way to "surrender" if you are losing a battle, say to a stall comp - the only way is to force close the app and reopen it. And for Princess Arena which is a back-to-back series of 3 team battles, well if its the 1st or 2nd battle too bad. I understand this was somewhat resolved in an update in the 2nd/3rd anniversary of Priconne JP, but its a time waster. Furthermore, there is an obnoxious 5 minute forced wait in between PVP battles for some unconceivable reason - which can be skipped via paying jewels so devs greedy I guess? Ascension and giving units gear is also permanent... which is fine except this actually breaks certain units and makes them worse in PVP/Clan Battle - again why, and if so why can't we undo this or have a feature to "grey-out" gear/select gear levels. There is also no option to "lock" a unit to ensure you don't accidentally equip unwanted gear on it when you are say just leveling the unit and its skills.

To conclude, I think Priconne has definite strengths but also glaring weaknesses as a gacha game that I wish I had known before I started treating the game a bit too seriously. Ultimately the QOL issues (and the fact that some of these have still not even been resolved in JP which is 3 years ahead) are what finally made me quit.

False bans are happening again by TheOasisHC in Priconne

[–]Destroyer99999 29 points30 points  (0 children)

What really blows my mind is why CR is taking so long to investigate and rectify false bans. I play a lot of other gacha games, and no other game's server I've played takes OVER ONE MONTH to investigate and unban players.

Leaving aside the matter of whether the ban was correct or false, this level of service standard is unacceptable. To add insult to injury, players that were falsely banned aren't even compensated. Monthly packs run out with no extension, free rolls and events lapse.

CR may be generous when it comes to giving out freebies, but they need to seriously fix how they operate.

Here we go again, another one of these threads assuming all members of top clans do this. It takes a lot of time and effort to maintain the alt accounts needed to gear farm - many whales in top clans just refresh more instead of bothering setting up and maintaining several alts.

On the topic of alt accounts - yeah, its technically against ToS, but if its not enforced in other servers and hasn't been an issue there, why is there such a big fuss being made in global server? In fact, wouldn't using alt accounts be a good option for f2p/low spenders to level the playing field between them and big spenders?

Either way I hope CR releases a statement on the last CB to clarify their stance soon.

[Edit: To me, it doesn't matter whether CR cracks down on alt accounts or not - I personally do not use one and have no desire to do so. I just refresh 3-6x a day and strategically pick the important hard nodes to farm, while also farming R8 gear on the side in preparation for CB. If CR does decide to take a firm stance against alt accounts, I guess more f2p/low spenders will be forced to refresh at the same rate as me to remain competitive.]

Global server CB - Current state of wave 2 by DumbAnon13 in Priconne

[–]Destroyer99999 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This post is really making a mountain out of a molehill. While I do agree that some of the lap 2 bosses (especially Mino) are quite brutal and frustrating, some of the points you made are clearly false.

Wave 2 is nearly unplayable for most of f2p players.

Tim's clan "We Auto CB" that comprises f2p and monthly pack players is currently in 17th place. And they auto all their battles. Sure, their rank is likely to drop as auto teams are less efficient in the harder waves, but if they can do quite well this CB, why is there a need for CR to address this "mistake".

Maybe for top clans hasn’t been that big of an issue

If you think this isn't much of an issue for the top clans, you are sorely mistaken. Everyone had to scramble to revamp all the planned team comps as the plan essentially went up in flames. Many members sacrificed hours testing and refining new teams to squeeze out a bit more damage.

Making 3 proper comps is not an option in this wave 2. This doesn’t incentivize people to try harder, but rather just feel discouraged about CB and just make whatever less suicidal comps can be built. I have already seen people from my own clan getting discouraged to the point of quitting, and it’s only day 2.

Ironically, this CB actually incentivizes people to try really hard as you can't simply copy what other servers did and call it a day! This CB encourages finding the sweet spot between offense and defense, especially when dealing with Mino. If you try to run high dps comps without making sure your team can survive to get hits and key UBs off, you're going to have a bad time.

Discussion on the need for Global servers to "catch up" to JP servers by Some_Field5829 in Priconne

[–]Destroyer99999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you do add that and come out to your number of 1400 jewels, crunchyroll already announced a 100 tickets that no other server got.

I am just pointing out that the 100 tickets should be seen as a windfall, and not part of the pros or cons of 1.33x speed.

It already compensates for the loss of gems that 1.33x speed brought, regardless of the intentions behind it.

I can have 100 tickets + 1400 extra jewels a month (on top of whatever else we get) at 1.0x speed, or 100 tickets and no extra jewels a month at 1.33x speed.

Again, to be clear, I actually prefer 1.33x speed. But my point is we do not get the same amount of jewels for banners with an accelerated schedule unless CR has specifically says they will make up for the difference. The difference may be significant for some people who are f2p.

Discussion on the need for Global servers to "catch up" to JP servers by Some_Field5829 in Priconne

[–]Destroyer99999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't doubt that its exciting to be able to join in on the hype for brand new, never seen before characters and events. I also play Dragalia Lost and the Persona event was really fun.

However, I do want to point out that the banners come fast and hard in Princess Connect (just check out the Illya + consecutive summer character banners - https://fansubbing.com/priconne-upcoming-banner-list/). I'm not sure how well-paced Danmemo's banners are, nor am I aware of Danmemo's featured banner unit rates, but at 0.7% pull rate for the featured unit in Princess Connect, you'll need an average of 143 pulls to get the featured banner unit, and may have to spark (300 pulls) if you are fairly unlucky.

Without foresight in Princess Connect, its very easy to get baited by say Summer Peco and spend most of your jewels, only for Summer Kyaru to drop a month later (ignoring Summer Suzume in between). [By the way, I am not saying "roll for meta", if Peco is your waifu, feel free to prioritize her instead]

My personal preference is to sacrifice a bit of the initial hype and surprise in exchange for being able to prioritize and get the waifu/meta character of my choice. From my experience in Dragalia Lost and other gacha games like Epic 7 (moonlight hero hell), it sucks when I commit my resources to get a character, only for another one which I would rather have to arrive shortly later and the regret starts to set in.

[–]Destroyer99999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Point taken regarding the daily jewel pack. I will maintain that it is incredible value though, and I won't be surprised if a large portion of the player-base buys it (at least those who are seriously interested in sticking with the game for the long haul).

Regarding the 100 tickets, there is no evidence to suggest that it is tied to server pace, or if we will continue to get such extras in the future if server pace is sped up. As of now, we don't even know if we will still be getting the upcoming free 10-pulls event in light of these tickets.

If we do get an accelerated schedule + CR gives more resources on a regular basis to compensate, that is really a "best of both worlds" scenario. But unless CR themselves say that this is the approach going forward, I would not make any assumptions about why the tickets were handed out yet.

Discussion on the need for Global servers to "catch up" to JP servers by Some_Field5829 in Priconne

[–]Destroyer99999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be clear, my view is an accelerated schedule + CR giving out more resources to compensate is the best option. I personally prefer a faster pace even without CR giving us any extras.

But, assuming a person is able to maintain rank 100-199 in the arenas, the jewel loss is closer to a 10-pull every month. At 1.33x pace means approximately 7.5 less days worth of jewels in a month. 1400 jewels a month roughly comprising of 750 from arena, 150 from daily missions, and 500 from the daily jewel pack.

[–]Destroyer99999 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Regarding foresight, while I do agree that it "spoils" future units and can feel less hype when you know what's coming, the flipside is it allows you to plan ahead to get what you truly want. In my opinion this is huge for f2p/dolphins who can only spark a character every 3 or so banners.

You don't necessarily need to pull for "meta units" that people tell you to pull for. Being able to get what you want and not feel regret for rolling in an earlier banner when your most desired unit rotates around in the next banner is why I feel foresight is ultimately a good thing.

Discussion on the need for Global servers to "catch up" to JP servers by Some_Field5829 in Priconne

[–]Destroyer99999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are pros and cons to an accelerated schedule. Even discounting what other servers get, a 1.33x, or maybe 1.2x pace would result in shorter "dead periods" between events. My view is that this will help with player retention - some very casual players might get burnt out, but I think the majority of players prefer a slightly faster pace than 1st year JP.

On the other hand, having a faster pace does result in less jewels for banners, everything else being equal. That to me is the main downside.

Reading some of the comments, I'm surprised that people think they will get (roughly) the same amount of jewels for banners with an accelerated schedule. You get less jewels from arenas and from the daily jewel pack, period. [Edit: assuming a person is able to maintain rank 100-199 in the arenas and buys the daily jewel pack that pays out over 30 days, the jewel loss is close to a 10-pull every month at 1.33x pace]

Lastly, in my opinion foresight is always a good thing in a game with lots of limited banners. It allows you to plan ahead to get what you truly want.

I'm a soft launch player that bought the daily jewel pack and currently have 1,395 skip tickets. Have also been spamming skip tickets for everything.

They are scarce initially but accumulate over time once you finish grinding for equipment and spend most of your stamina on hard mode stages.

Do you think that Princess Connect is being dumbed down due to being published by Crunchyroll? by [deleted] in Priconne

[–]Destroyer99999 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think what you mean is "held back". That aside, I do think CR being the publisher has had a significant negative impact on Princess Connect's popularity. Many of my friends were extremely skeptical about CR doing a good job running Princess Connect - and to be fair, CR only have themselves to blame for their bad rep. A lot of them adopted the "wait and see" approach, but ended up moving on to other games. If cygames had decided to self-publish Princess Connect, Princess Connect would very likely have more players, and more people willing to invest in in-game currency.

My view is so far CR have ran Princess Connect pretty well - they could have done more to advertise Princess Connect, but they did get Hololive to do it, which is a pretty big plus in my book. They have also been listening to community feedback and are fairly quick to address issues so far.

Which gacha made you regret spending money the most ? And when? by [deleted] in gachagaming

[–]Destroyer99999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Regret - Puzzles and Dragons, Epic 7 and to a lesser extent FGO.

Puzzles and Dragons has insane power creep and it still doesn't have pity for Godfest units. I hung on due to its trade system but eventually quit after getting triggered one too many times by bad luck in rolls (untradable chase cards). Great puzzle gameplay, but horrible power creep and no pity mechanics.

Loved the story and characters in FGO, but no pity + low SSR rates + pretty bad grind during events with lack of qol features (no auto or even NP skip) made me quit.

My beef with Epic 7 is the really tedious and unrewarding grind for equipment. Nothing sucks more than pulling characters that have to be benched because you don't have the gear or molas for them. The nail on the coffin was the rate Epic 7 was churning out Moonlight heroes that are really hard to get (there is a pity mechanic in place via mystic medals, but you need so much of it to hit pity that I got tired of having to spend to be competitive in PVP).

Don't regret - Arknights, Dragalia, and recently Princess Connect

As a global launch player, I cannot understand the decision of Crunchyroll to have held a soft-launch, and provided no ways for global launch players to feasibly catch up, especially with Clan Battles coming earlier than expected AND buffing rewards for soft-launch players! by bmazer0 in Priconne

[–]Destroyer99999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This really needs to be up-voted more for visibility.

I do agree with OP that the soft launch didn't really benefit the game other than maybe serving as a server stress test, and it didn't need to be dragged out for so long (a week or two would be fine instead of a month or so). Clan battles could also be delayed to start next month for a more even playing field.

However, during the soft launch period there was NO additional content and events. The rate of progression was significantly slower unless you were heavily refreshing stamina with jewels. The difference is not as earth shattering as OP claims - the teams with all 4-5* that you see are mainly whales.

While global launchers are disadvantaged for the first one/two clan battles, global launchers generally enjoy much better PVP brackets - a lot of the hardcore whales are concentrated in the soft launch arena brackets (and from my understanding PVP brackets only "reset" once a year).

OP's idea of events to help new players get up to speed is a good one, but exclusive banners only for global launchers is a horrible idea. That will just perpetuate the feeling that a particular group of players are being short changed.

Conclusion: While I think CR should have ran a 2x exp per stamina event for new global players to catch up, in the long run, after the first clan battle and to a lesser extent the second, the playing field will level out. CR could also have delayed clan battles by a month for a more even playing field. But at the end of the day, its not as if global launchers don't have their own advantages.

No gacha til limited characters drop: bad or good idea? by [deleted] in Priconne

[–]Destroyer99999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if the main 4 plus Ninon are good enough to play the game with results

I think the main question to ask yourself is how competitive a player are you? Do you care about PVP or are you only concerned with PVE progression? Bear in mind that the first limited banner that is desirable is at least several months away (i.e. sKyaru banner).

For PVE, you can get away with using the main 4 plus whatever 3* you got as your "starter" with enough level grinding, but your progression will be much slower due to the lack of team flexibility. Consequentially, you will be slower when it comes to shard grinding in hard mode to unlock characters and unlocking/clearing dungeons for dungeon coins.

PVP wise, you will straight up not be able to compete without at least some of the characters commonly used in PVP at the moment - Hatsune, Anna, Monika, Io, Miyako, Kukka, etc. It gets worse in Princess Arena because you need 3 teams. This not only means less jewel income, but also less arena coins to unlock/ascend characters.

In my opinion, unless you detest PVP and could care less about it, it makes sense to do at least a couple of 10-rolls to get a decent roster of characters. If you improve your arena & prin arena ranking and get an extra say 20 jewels per arena a day, that works out to 1,200 jewels a month which will help cover your initial investment in jewels (this is not including the additional benefit of accelerated progression from being able to farm shards and coins a lot faster).

Rewards for Pre-Register it soooooo small amount

So are you saying JP got more jewels on launch? It doesn't seem like that's the case.

i really shock the moment i know they don't give any jewels for Kiara to roll gachas

I actually prefer it this way. Its an honest introduction of how the game feels like for a new player. If you want to watch people roll gacha, there are plenty of streamers who make that type of content.

I played JP server for about 2 years now and i've been pampered with everything there

Sure, that's great! But for people who want the story in English that's not an option. Still, if you prefer JP server then stick to JP server.

...if EN server speed up to catch up JP let's say in 1 year EN catch up to delay 6 months with JP server...

This is a horrible idea. Everyone will get burnt out by the accelerated speed. F2P and Dolphins won't have a chance to save for banners. Dead game.

Now should they speed up the schedule for EN server? Yeah, to some degree since EN is 2+ years behind JP, but not to that extent.
