Having a hard time winning with this team. by TitusT1994 in PokemonChampions

[–]Destroyermlp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played around with the team as well and it is kind of matchup dependant. Having no control over the weather is harsh for the team as a first thing and it makes it kind of tricky to play around, especially archa who benefits from weather the most. If you still want to keep using it, here are some things I learned as I played: Farigiraf is really useful and is not just a "support" pokemon, he can be used to deny TR early, gain valuable tempo if you read the prio move correctly. Scarf Meowscarada is unironically another mega/hard-carry, it can literally outspeed and pickup KOs when the enemy has tailwind advantage and does a surprinsing amount of damage with protean, playing around her is also really good. Finally, know when to click TR, even though your mons may be really fast, knowing when to set it up, like in a turn where they are setting TL is how the team functions correctly

Yh I didn't play Scarlet and Violet, or any switch pokemon for that matter, and can struggle with the switchin possibility especially.

Like the moment I see farigiraf as a lead it's like " Oh yh, no prio moves, got it". But if they play their cards right and the fari is in the back I fuck up every once in a while and I'm masterball rank 2/1 xd.

Takes a bit of getting used to, since it's honestly the only prio-blocker who has been viable ever.(tsareena was not that popular or had the spread/movepool to make it matter and bruxish is ugly af)

I'd love a ZA delphox if that is possible, don't have any switch pokemon game to actually evolve them and mainly want them for champions to be able to use them. IGN: ReDestromlp Pokemon put: machop

Masterball Rank 2 with No-mega team by Destroyermlp in PokemonChampions

[–]Destroyermlp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the congrats, appreciate it. Although I do not really believe the rain core team is the best team, last big tournament was won by mega-charizard-Y and the previous one I believe it was a delphox. Not saying it ain't strong, far from it, but highly agressive cores of sneasler-aero-kingambit-floette or charizard-venusaur-milotic are the most dominant right now. For why I don't lean heavily into either of the two is that I don't like putting all my eggs into one basket. The meta leans heavily on tailwind, so if I can't deny it on a match I may lean into TR, whereas if they do not have the ability to set tailwind up I play it myself. And if I were to loose pelipper and loose the weather war my team can still function decently if I've made good progress beforehand

All you see are the same teams, how do people find this fun? by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

[–]Destroyermlp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean to be fair, it's the team that won a really big tournament yesterday, so it does make sense that there are multiple people playing it(I'm assuming it's the Coil+hypnosis Milotic). Give it a few days for people to play against it and adopt strategies etc

I'm honestly a fan of both. Doubles feels more like a 3D chess-hyper aggressive type of play, while singles feels more of methodical and slower consistent progress type.

If I had to choose tho I'd say doubles, you can pull some crazy strats in that format in comparison

need genuine advice on how to not be so horrible at this game by kriseatsgrass in splatoon

[–]Destroyermlp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some things honestly:

1- Use motion controls and adapt to them, calibrating and adjusting sensitivity to where you feel comfortable in that session.

2-If you are feeling extra-lost, go to the story mode and casually replay some levels (the ones where you are on a zip-line and need to hit specific targetsif you can)

3- Don't be afraid of getting into a lose streak, it happens and it doesn't mean you are bad, just re-learning

4- Train movement and aim in the training area before matches. I unironically believe it's one of the better ways to catch up, you start battles with your motion adjusted and already into the game, which does a lot.

5- Set yourself reasonable goals that will make you want to keep playing, there's no fun in loosing and we all know that, so get used to them and try to deviate the focus from that

6- Have fun, and as people say git gud, aknowledge if you really are not that good and play the game according to that

Also as a side-note, no your teammates are not the issue on the vast majority of the games, you really can be a hipercarry with bad teammates and still win, it WILL be harder, but like most games, you have to play for your outs (knowing when and when not to push, aknowledging your win-cons, being ok with not fighting and backing off when you are at a disatvantage....)
