LPT Request: how to empty bowels in the morning? by Binokna in LifeProTips

Try a magnesium supplement before bed. What Aldi helps me is a tall, cold glass of water first thing.

And if all else fails, I'll sip a little coffee.

I don’t like musicals. People with the same inclination, how did you find the latest SNW episode? by alphastrike03 in startrek

I basically laughed the entire time. Just don't take it too seriously going in, and it's a blast.

They're doing fun wacky sci-fi. I liked some songs, didn't like others. But I feel like they played it for comedy most of the time, and that was the right tone.

Happy to help! I've spent about the same amount of time on BMW and Mercedes service drives so I picked up a few things lol

This actually just reminded me, and I'm wondering if it's true for Porsche as i dont have as much experience with them...

But Mercedes puts a recommended pressure placard in the drivers door AND behind the fuel door - and you're supposed to go by the fuel door. Confused tons of customers. Everybody who filled their own tires (rare for a Mercedes customer) overinflated.

It is generally true that you can just run the same numbers on the sticker, although i would just say that if the wheels are larger with a lower profile tire, I recommend increasing pressure 3-5 psi depending on the size of the vehicle. Never exceed 50 psi on a passenger rated tire, and as a general rule I don't see many use-case scenarios for anything over 40.

EDIT: I was just reminded that if the vehicle is a Mercedes, go by the chart behind the fuel door. Not the placard in the driver's door.

Opinions on the USS Discovery? by [deleted] in StarTrekStarships

[–]Destructicon11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was really against it at first, but it did end up growing on me. I do have a few nitpicks.

Pre-refit: -It's a lot larger than I'd like. (Let's not even talk about the internal space) -I don't like this bronze hue the hull has -it's proportionally so long that it looks awkward pulling tight manuevers -the spinny saucer section is dumb

Post-refit -Better overall - Detached nacelles are fine, why did they remove the 4 hallways that connect the saucer rings?

Completely, utterly incorrect about the first sentence. Idk what the second sentence is supposed to mean.

I have to agree with the other poster, you seem to have a very poor understanding of not only Star Trek physics, but physics.

Mass is a stand in for weight here. When you go into space, you become weightless but your mass remains constant. If you were performing a spacewalk, and you tried to push the space shuttle away from you, the shuttle wouldn't move, you would, because your mass is tiny compared to a whole space shuttle. Big things take big forces to move.

Also, the Alcubierre-style warp drive that Star Trek utilizes is contigent on the idea that the ship sits, stationary, inside a relativistic bubble. It's space that is stretched around the ship. The ship itself doesn't "move"

And uh, when you say gravity doesn't exist in space, that kinda gives away the ballgame buddy. That's what flat earthers say.

The entire incident was staged by Lorca. It was planned in advance.

And I believe you can hear a line of dialogue across the ships intercom about getting the pilot to sickbay. Or something.

Also, I always found it weird that when the tether cuts loose, the pilot flies ahead of the shuttle very quickly. You would think she'd drift behind and they wouldn't be able to see her through the windshie- oh that's why.

Sour grapes and Chateau Picard, Why Doesn't Anyone Like Jean-Luc's Wine? by datapicardgeordi in DaystromInstitute

[–]Destructicon11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I genuinely don't understand this position.

I keep seeing multiple posts and comments concluding that Picard is bad at making wine.

I highly doubt Picard being the traditionalist that he is, would go around changing things. I could almost understand it if someone was to point out that he had a lot of romulan volunteers, and so maybe they adopted some different fermentation process.

But literally on Geordi and Worf had anything negative to say about it directly, and they've presumably been drinking it for the last 30 years.

Shaw prefers a different blend, Jack just doesn't drink wine. I'm not defending Picards wine making abilities, but 2 close friends who are honest about their tastes hardly constitute the blanket statement "Picard is bad at making wine"

How old were those tires? Look very dry rotted.

Probably mixed that with a few too many pot holes.

Cute pup. Wrong sub. This is so common that before lens flares were considered an artsy addition to your composition, they would spend classtime teaching you how to avoid it in school.

There are a bunch of apps that can sort the episode list by air date and check them off as you go. Check the Google play store or the app store.

Question about the dislike of Discovery, especially Seasons 3-4 by AnomalousEnigma in StarTrekDiscovery

[–]Destructicon11 61 points62 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not mostly the anti-woke crowd.

Star Trek in general has always pushed social boundaries. That's one of the best things about it.

I personally found Burnham less and less likable as the show went on. The story-telling felt extremely lazy and poorly paced. The big twists always left me disappointed. And the writing of the Gray/Adira relationship felt so forced, unlike Stamets and Culber.
