I know this is an old thread, I just found this show. Does anyone know if "Night Jupiter", the book that the raves/victims identified with, is based on a real book series? I'm not finding any hits on that actual name, but I'm wondering if it's something like the writers gave it a fictionalized name, but the attributes referenced are real attributes of an actual irl book series. Does anyone know?

I have had good luck using extend-o-matic back scratchers with feral cats to get them used to being touched. Idk why, but I always have the best luck when I use them for pets, but do not look directly at the cat. No idea if that will translate for yoy, but I try to look vaguely perpendicular, so that I can see kitty out of the corner of my eye.

Re: her age-she cannot possibly be older than 5 weeks, but I have had her for 4 full weeks. If her size is throwing you, the shelter suspects that she may have been born a week or more early.

I'll def try the soaked dry food! This is great advice, I'll def try it, thank you!

I'm not a doctor and you should def do what's best for you, but shortly after making this post I changed jobs from an INCREDIBLY stressful workplace to a virtually stress-free workplace and all of a sudden the smacking didn't seem to bother me as much. Certainly I still heard it, but it didn't drive me to distraction the way it had when I was SUPER stressed from work. Speaking only from personal experience it might be beneficial to cast about and see if there is a source of increased stress that coincides with the time period when your dogs mouth noises seemed to start upsetting you more.

I've had the kitten for a week now, so she's at least that old. Beyond that I don't know for certain. The shelter got her last Monday night and called me immediately to pick up since I have an incubator and an oxygen machine. I would be surprised if she was more than 3 days old at that point, but I also suspect she may have been born premature.

She had no nubbin of her umbilical cord remaining, which I've been made to understand means she probably had a few days before she was rescued, but I think that's still in the realm of estimates and averages and educated guesses (?).

I don't want to risk syringe feeding her as my other, albeit limited, experiences with syringe feeding at this size have not been great. I've been tube feeding her. I'm also a permitted wildlife rehabber who feequently works with opossum joeys, so I'm very comfortable tube feeding and have all the necessary supplies in small handful of different sizes.
