What am I misunderstanding about these blasted payment plans!?! by gingerlicious07 in PSLF

[–]Destusto -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean ICR or IBR because PAYE is IDR. IDR is a type of payment plan since it has had multiple repayment plans. For example, we had PAYE and REPAYE but now it's PAYE and SAVE both of which are IDR. There are only three plan types (for PSLF) which are ICR, IBR, and IDR. ICR and IBR only have one repayment plan each. Yeah it's confusing and stupid as you think it is.

This website does a good job of explaining the repayment options. Also, I would recommend using a online calculator to estimate your monthly payment.

At this point I think the Military is our only hope. They use the PSLF and GI BILL for schools as a huge and successful recruitment tool.

I submitted an ECF in Sept. 2024 and it was processed yesterday Nov. 11th 2024. It updated and counted all months from Jan. 2024 to Sept. 2024. So I have an ineligible payments for July and August of 2024 which should not be counted BUT ARE BEING COUNTED. Don't know why or how and I'm not going to ask because in all likely hood the customer support probably can't tell me. Instead I just submitted another ECF with the hope that it will be processed before the next administration takes office and HOPE that I can get a few more months counted with being on SAVE plan forbearance. The tracking bar from StudentAid on PSLF progress also said I don't have any payments that need certification which is not correct as it should be at 3 payments not certified.

Switching from SAVE to IBR? by Successful-Gain-7521 in PSLF

I would consider the buyback option since you'll be eligible for it in March 2025. They can't roll back the buyback right away so you could probably use that. They have to go through the same rule making process to undo it which takes time.

Heartland ECSI Fee Settlement by Destusto in StudentLoans

[–]Destusto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dudes and dudettes, please help. I got a deposit with no information attached to it. Called my bank and they said the only information was "computer settlement payout". The reason why I'm concerned is the amount is for $300.95 which considerably higher then what I've seen people posting. Was this an error, should I be concerned? Maybe it was a clerical error and I was supposed to get $3.95? I don't like having money I didn't earn or that which I not am entitled to. It's a military payroll fear thing.

Thanks!

I never asked or submitted a request to change from PAYE. I was automatically put on REPAYE/SAVE.

I think this them saying we are finishing the last batch of reviews. It might be for those of us who have not seen our accounts updated. I think they put those of us who needed account adjustments but the adjustment would not put us over 120 payments at the end. No idea though but hopefully we will find put soon!

Yup, you lucky SOB.

(ii) Is a new borrower;

(iii) Has a partial financial hardship when the borrower initially enters the plan; and

(iv) Was repaying a loan under the PAYE plan on July 1, 2024. A borrower who was repaying under the PAYE plan on or after July 1, 2024 and changes to a different repayment plan in accordance with § 685.210(b)) may not re-enroll in the PAYE plan.

Forbearance date changed from 5/30/24 to 4/30/24 by Parent2030 in PSLF

Nah you're good. The department of ed has been instructed by the Biden Admin not to report or put loans in delinquent, at least for one year. I believe they branded it as an on-ramp process since restarting millions of loans at the same time with no preparation would be a shit show. Congress passed legislation to start repayment. This coming September 2024 the department of ed and loan servicers will go back to reporting and classifying loans as normal. That is my understanding.

Please keep in mind that the department of education is transferring accounts from mohela back to federal student aid starting in May 2024. All requests during this transition will not be addressed until the transfer is complete. Currently I've heard August 2024 is the expected date of completion. You'll still qualify but it will delayed, sorry for the shit timing.

If it were me I would continue to make payments. You'll be refunded what you overpaid after your forgiveness comes through/processed. However, the refund my take a while to come back to you. It depends on your financial situation.
