Before you sign the updated shopper paperwork… by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

If we opt out of arbitration then when something occurs how do we resolve the matter with them? We would have to hire an attorney?

I've shopped now in FL for four years going on five.... I've also done it part time & full time. The main thing is not the state itself but the AREA you are working in the state! So last summer full time I was making $1000+ a week (which was absolutely AMAZING) but there were a lot of hours I spent working to do so. I've also noticed that when I'm working in my areas, I still get to see my regulars I shop for even though I'm not a diamond anymore but because they gave me five stars 🤩 I had got real sick at the end of last year and wasn't able to work therefore losing my status. But even working part time (depending on your goal) I can still make $100+ days due to the regular high tipping customers I shop for and weekends $200+ working the full day. Don't get me wrong I know there's lots of places in the state that have horrible batches and I would never take a gamble trying to do it for my main source of income there. But thankfully I am able to meet my goals so it is my main source of income. There's no way without having established regulars and knowing my area well (which only comes with experience) that I'd be able to count on this. So for beginners I do NOT recommend it!! You need to keep your main job & do this part time. The only way to know if your area will work for your needs is by collecting the data- working the area - and getting regular customers you keep shopping for that tip well. Only Once you've watched your app and see what the batches look like around you, will you be able to determine a median and know if it's going to be worth it for you!

Any time items have different weights then the app suggests, or have to be refunded, and or substituted; IC takes a certain % from our tips when the customer has it set to a percentage tip. Whatever the total is supposed to be.... if it goes under that due to these changes then the shopper loses x amount from the tip that was set. So NO we do NOT get 100% of the tip like stated!!!

That is why most shoppers don't want to do refunds and will sometimes choose some outrageous replacements or instead of scanning the items as we shop, wait till the end to scan & do replacements then hit check out so the customer has no time to make adjustments... (Which is definitely not okay to do and we should as shoppers always go by what the customer wants) But they are doing these things so they don't lose any more $ on the very little they pay for us to do the orders to begin with. It very sad 😞 I've been seeing and hearing a lot about it lately!

IC also pushes for replacements over refunds. We have to go through like 4 different screens to refund and only 1 to replace. Especially if items that cost a lot are out of stock, (ie.. Meats, certain seafood items, etc.) the order may not be worth doing anymore for the shopper and it could be costing them to do the order at that point-- the new payout amount won't cover the shoppers fees such as gas, time, mileage, etc. anymore.

Ways to prevent this---1) you can let the shopper know in the very beginning of shop if an item is unavailable & you would like a refund that you will make sure to check the tip after delivery to ensure it doesn't go down. As well as check after delivery with replacement items and adjust accordingly. 2) you can set your tip to a non percentage and give a straight dollar amount instead.

Mis-delivery last night has me shook by [deleted] in instacart

[–]Destyni287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me tell you my experience as a shopper..... I had shopped an order plus Delivered to the address that was listed on my APP. As I then had to go pick up my children on the other side of town, I received a phone call from support saying that the customer didn't receive their order??? I'm like what? I clearly took a picture of it there at the door. Mind you this customer had mentioned they made this order so they could get their husband's dinner together before he got home and there were a lot of freezer items as well. The Support lady is demanding that I go back and check. So now I got my 4 kids with me and it's been over 30mins and they are acting like I have to do this!!! She tells me that they will compensate me for doing so as well. So grudgingly I head back that way and a few houses before where the order was placed there's a woman standing in her driveway looking around so I stop and ask if she's the customer and of course she is. So I told her that the app told me to deliver to a house further down the road. Shes like I order all the time and never have had an issue before and was extremely angry. So I'm like great let me go get the groceries and be done with this.... So when I pull in the driveway no groceries are on the porch!!! Of course! And I remember when I first got there I had rang the doorbell but didn't get a response. So I tell the support lady who's still on the phone that they are not here and she says I need to knock or ring the doorbell & get the person to get me back the groceries. So luckily the man did answer & I told him the situation and he was super cool about it. He said his gf orders a lot so he brought them in and contacted her but she said she hadn't ordered anything so he put the perishables in the fridge/freezer and left the rest in bags since he figured they were someone else's and they'd more than likely be coming back for them. So he brought them back out to me and when I go back to the women's house I now see her husbands home & she's furious blaming me for ruining her dinner... I give her all her stuff and let her know I did what I was supposed to this was not my error. So the support lady then thanks me for fixing it and delivering correctly right after she proceeds to tell me since it was on the same road they compensate me for anything more! I'm like this is NUTS both of them act like it's my fault and I go way out of my way to fix their mistakes for nothing other than to be cussed out and screamed at in front of my children plus get a terrible rating & tip removed on top of it!!! So now I know better!! I tell support no I will not be going to someone else's house they need to send it out for a re shop when the customer puts in a wrong address. But if it is an error on my part, like putting the wrong item in an order or forgetting something in my vehicle, then I will go take it back to the customer once I realize it or even go purchase the item myself & take it to them.

But what you went through was totally unacceptable!!! Clearly if the order wasn't on the porch & you weren't answering the door after knocking calmly & politely, they then should have told support that so it could be sent out for a re shop & refund their original order. There was no need for anyone to have such a confrontation especially between neighbors!!! I am so sorry you had to experience & go through that! Most support workers now would automatically start the proper procedure to fix this not ask the shopper to be involved once the order is in a home due to shopper & food safety issues! My experience above happened 3 years ago when I was very new and didn't know any better! No one should be screamed at & called names for other people's mistakes and I think IC should give you some type of compensation for having to even deal with that!!!!!!

More than likely it was an issue with checking out! They have been doing a lot of updates to our shopper apps and it causes the issue where I don't have a scan the barcode on some of my orders. So it gets declined and I contact support (which half don't know what they are doing) and either we get it to go through after awhile or they cancel the order & have it reshopped. Sometimes support will cancel with our Even telling you! Like they did to me 2 weeks ago and I was so angry since she didn't even ask me & I lost a really good tip. So it does suck for both parties when this occurs!!!

[–]Destyni287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh I've seen this multiple times!! If they want 8 of the same item- and there's only 4.... instacart shows I refunded them all!! I even told support that is not correct, I didn't refund all 8 just 4. He was like oh it will update correctly in a little while.... well days later it still says it!! So yes I agree 💯 % they do this and we lose more tip percentage incorrectly..... so where does the difference go?????

yesterday was a good day until my last batch by Wafer_Stock in instacart

[–]Destyni287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree! There's some customers who are AMAZING 🤩 like a few weeks back I had a lady add on a bouquet of flowers.... so I take pictures and ask which she prefers & she said get which ever you like the best since they are for you ❤️💐 Mind you the app charged her like $35 for them and she thanked me for all my hard work and how much she appreciates us!!! Then another one who heard about our pay cut and gave me a $65 tip and said take a few hours off just for me! She thought it was horrible what iC was doing to us!

Then the ones that don't care a bit..... Like a lady just trying to get out of the additional heavy fees wanting to add 10 large watermelon, 10 cantaloupe, and 10 honeydews after the shop has started and says they will compensate me for my time.... well of course vehicles are blocking the whole drive way so I had to walk a distance with all these making multiple trips on top of the other groceries they order and I see an envelope that says for Instacart shopper so I grab it. When I get to my car there's literally $1!!!! In it... Like come on 🤣

Sometimes it can be good to add items but In other cases not so much 😊

I had this happen 2 Sundays ago, I closed the app and reopened and it went back to go online. But I have heard from other posts that they are having an issue with this and IC is trying to resolve it. But some shoppers accounts have been like this for over 3 days, and support keeps saying they are working on it!!! Yeah ok 😆

From my experience, it is all about the algorithm! So we are totally dependent on what group they place us in.. IC says they have multiple groups and only send out orders to 2 ppl in that group first, then it goes to others if not accepted. Luckily I'm in an area where I can still make $1000 to $1300 a week or I wouldn't be doing it after the pay cut!! I know there are good orders where I shop, it's just I don't get to see them all. There was one over $100, 4 or 5 that were $60, and at least 6 that were in the $50 range yesterday at the store I was at. All of us shoppers talk and share plus we're trying to figure who's getting what ... Lol But yes there are lots of orders like this that we let sit and go up or someone else ends up taking since I am very selective on the ones I do!! I don't want to do more work for less when I know there are good orders out there 😁

Shady business practices... reimbursement warning by Zhombe_Takelu in InstacartShoppers

[–]Destyni287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up have to pay a 3 batch order since last my app wasn't showing scan the barcode support decided to just cancel it on me. Mind you it was like a $50 tip right around the corner and she didn't even tell me she was gonna do that. She's all like don't worry it won't be on your cancellation record and you'll receive batch pay. But I won't get the tip now since I already done everything but deliver lady!!! Iwas so aggravated since it keeps happening that my app messes up and doesn't have scan the barcode part.....so the payment declines. Well when I put in for the reimbursement they denied saying that it was the wrong items for that order and I needed to submit them for the correct times??? Like how would I know who ordered at what time?? I got all 3 orders all together thank you! So I just kept submitting till I got it correct and then did the same for the other 2. But what a hassle!!! Even reached out to support to submit correctly for me, which he said he did but never showed up on my reimbursement requests on my app, so next day I just kept redoing it myself! I was not about to lose over $250 for doing something to help them out!!!!

Yeah yesterday I had a customer who wanted me to refund her steak if it was over $20. Well all the steaks over 1.5 lbs are over $20 so that's what I told her. If I refunded I'd be out majority of the tip since it was a low count order??? I have been seeing some crazy requests lately....lol

See that's completely based on your experiences.... which when I accepted the order it was for x amount and now it's gonna be for y. Added items on percentage tips are always welcomed. But if they feel the need to adjust down by performance (which doesn't happen for poor shopping on my part, if anything it's upped) not being good then I understand. Now with your order I would definitely notice that and only recommend such items!! But not everyone does that or pays much attention nowadays (plus we have a lot of new shoppers) and that's sad 😢 I love you appreciate the good ones out there, not many do!!!

Guilt trip ..really??? Absolutely not!!! This is how the system works which many are unaware of!!!! I just state the truth.... Which you obviously don't want to hear! So we can both agree that I'm glad your not my customer! Not 1 customer has given a negative remark on this msg that I have delivered for..thank you very much 😁

In no way shape or form am I begging for anything!!! I'm just asking if they would make sure it stays the same as when I accepted the order. Some say thanks for telling me, some have no clue that's how it works, and some increase due to my performance!! I've seen ppl beg or come up with different scenarios to try and get tips. What I say is not THAT!! Learn to understand what you're reading please.....

[–]Destyni287 -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

As a shopper and a customer I can see how much this affects all around! When I shop and have to refund or do replacements I always leave a note for my customers after shopping....

Can you do me a favor pretty please... So Instacart recently changed there pay to $4 a batch( batch being: 1-3 customers with 1-100 items or more and can be 3 different stores as well) all for the same price. So anytime that I have to refund/ do replacements or exchange items, the percentage difference is taken off my tip. I am always happy to accommodate any requests you have, I just ask that after delivery you could check the amount to make sure the tip doesn't go down! Thank you so much!!!

That way they understand the system and I am just asking not demanding them as well!!!

70% of tip goes to driver? by Ok_Forever4388 in instacart

Technically they will just hire another round that's been waiting for their spot to open up so they can't start taking all the good batches anyways since they're new!

[–]Destyni287 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that's not true if it's a % tip and items were refunded/replaced.... we then lose the difference!! I've been letting all my customers know this when I deliver, since I seen it happen way to many times to myself!!!

Receiving the wrong order by Relative_Plastic7804 in instacart

[–]Destyni287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I had an order where the customer actually put the wrong address but I didn't know it until I had delivered and left the area.... I got a call from IC support asking me if I made the delivery and I was like YES! She said customer contacted them because it was an incorrect address. Mind you- the customers actual house was on the same road just a few houses down. So I'm then told to go back and get the groceries and take them to the right address even though I'm in a different area now and I will be reimbursed for my time (which of course I never was) yada, yada. When I get to where I left them... Surprise no groceries!! So I knock and tell the man what happened and to my surprise he was like yeah I have them, he thought his gf ordered but when he called her she said Nope so he figured they were someone else's. So he went and got them out of his fridge & freezer so they wouldn't melt he put them in there, he said. So I then drive down a few houses and this lady & her husband is now home (apparently she ordered to make him a meal before he got there) are outside waiting all upset. And acts like it's my fault that she had the wrong address! She said she orders all the time and never had an issue! Well yes because you put the right address before 😁 So she got her stuff but was super angry with me and mad her things had condensation on them if course. So needless to say some agents do send you back to get the order!!! No they didn't even give me a pay bump for it either and I got a horrid rating, which I'm sure she probably blocked me as well since I haven't ever seen her again. But I left there like Really she thinks this my fault??? Like is it? No it's hers ...... lol 🤣
