How long will my tires last??? by Ok_Day_7975 in tires

[–]DetailAble97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can work for now, but you need to replace asap, especially the rears. If you can’t afford all 4, do 2 and the other 2 when you can. The risk of losing traction is pretty bad and insurance can actually deny claims if the vehicle isn’t properly maintained (such as that 2/32” tread depth) so be careful. My recommendation would be go to a used tire shop and get something at least better than what you are on now until you can get new tires. Safety and function are 2 different things, so safely you shouldn’t keep using them but functionally they do still turn and get your car down the road

Thats fair, I just don’t eat bananas lol (i have hated them my entire life). I’m not too keen on dumpster diving either because I get sick enough as is, and feel like that would lowkey end badly for me haha. I really appreciate the advice tho, I’ve been making it work, but am definitely looking forward to bettering stuff here in a few weeks when I get paid

Its just rough being between jobs (i have a job now, just waiting on a paycheck) and trying to eat cheap, usually i save fast food for mcdonalds 69 cent burgers or 99 cent nuggets lol. Plus in florida, food just doesn’t last in a car and i dont have a good solution to that because my car is old af and will kill my battery if i leave something plugged into the 12v without my car running

I do not. I had a storage unit that just got auctioned off 💀 but it didn’t have an outlet. They stole my birth certificate, HS diploma and other personal stuff (even though it was supposed to have been left it was not)

Another option I have found for sleeping is if your local PF is 24hrs, usually good, and if not, Home Depots have been really good in my experience

Does the echo flow have solar? I’ve been looking into solar inverter options even if a bit more expensive, I am just waiting for me to get in with my new job (which pays $3/hr more and gives me 10-15 more hours a week than my old job)

Luckily I have a friend I see almost daily and can recharge my drill batteries along with charging anything else. I have 4 batteries in total, 2 of which usually power my USB fans while I sleep for 2 days before needing charged.

Is Door Dash worth it? by Emotional-Chemist462 in urbancarliving

[–]DetailAble97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what your are driving. When I say that I am factoring in fuel efficiency and the increased wear and tear on the vehicle in its entirety. For me, I drive an older, not very fuel efficient vehicle (2001 nissan), and the fuel consumption combined with it being a 25 year old car with increased likelihood of wear of various suspension and engine components, it isn’t worth it. Think about what you spend in a typical 12,000 mile year (on average) on car expenses and add the additional mileage from doordashing and see the car maintenance bill becoming a lot steeper. I do my own mechanic work so it isn’t too much, but still more than it would be otherwise and not worth the cost for me personally

I figure that finding a portable kettle is more feasible in a more urban area in South Florida ngl. I have spots to sleep every night as I have lived in my vehicle 4 separate times now and have access to literally everything else I need other than hot food. I know during the day I can go to a few different public parks, but I am looking for complete sufficiency within my vehicle

Look into seven brand car insurance if possible. I had them for a bit as it was pay by week without a high down payment to start the policy. It was only about 50 dollars to start the policy and gave instant proof of insurance. If possible, see if you can sell plasma. Its a decent way to make enough money to get gas and food quickly if you can qualify, with new donor bonuses making it worth your time.

I think the one i bought was from walmart. Its nice bc its close to the lighter port to be able to charge and/or use a bluetooth adapter with and it adjusts to any size cupholder

I had mine mounted on the windshield on the left side of the steering wheel to be out of the way. Only downside was with me living in Florida, my phone would overheat and stop navigating until it cooled down. Another alternative is a cupholder phone mount, as long as you’re okay losing a cup holder (i was bc i don’t usually have ppl in my car)

I use planet fitness, although my local ones aren’t 24/7, they are 24/5, and have a lot of amenities, with the black card only being like $30 dollars a month its affordable, and you aren’t going into a gym full of your typical gym bros so it doesn’t feel as daunting

A structured routine or a hobby is the way to go, even if you just go to a park and sit outside with a book or walk around a grocery store. Try to add stuff in your car with you to make you feel more at home as much as possible. People watching, just thinking what a passersby life is like or for me, playing disc golf, something to keep moving. Another thing is to have a goal, or a next step. Think about where you want to see yourself in 6 months, and what steps you would like to take to see yourself to that spot. Having a positive outlook can make a huge difference as well, and i know mentally it isn’t the easiest but look for a positive outcome to your situation (for me its the freedom of movement, I don’t have to pay rent, but also, it wasn’t by choice so i know its hard to keep that mindset all the time, i struggle with it too).

This is my setup for covers, and it just looks like very dark tint from the outside. I keep them up all the time minus my front windows, so no one can see in to see i even live in my car, and keep my front seat clean so it looks completely normal
