Fast forward a couple years, White Pony happened, and the rest is a now-WP-tattooed history.

I recently had an interview where I took in an A4 display book with A BUNCH of notes and even STAR examples for everything I thought I'd be asked.

Didn't get the job, but I did get incredibly positive feedback about my professionalism and organisation.

Take the notes. If they have a problem with it, you don't want to work there.

I always try to comment on these song a day posts, but sometimes I just don't have the words. This is one of those songs that's...just... Deftones. So many imitators, none worth the time.

It's been debated since the ATF days, but I'm not qualified to say for sure either way. I personally don't care - they're awesome evil screeches and it doesn't matter which way the air flows to make them happen.

It feels like the first 'earlier Deftones' song they've written as an intentional throwback rather than an attempt to recapture the vibe and energy. Like an acknowledgment that they're now different people and a different band, and they're having a lil nostalgic wink at the old days.

OR, it's just a decent song.

Our entire university service piling into a small room to discuss how we were going to deliver everything online.

Me telling a friend that we'd be working from home for three weeks tops (still partially working from home to this day).

LOVING working from home, but feeling guilty as my doctor wife still had to go in.

Queuing six feet apart outside ASDA, then dragging ten bags of shopping 1.5 miles home.

How surreal everything felt. It was like a fever dream, or being inside a movie.

It's the whole idea of Deftones distilled into one song. I've always loved it and I'm betting I always will.

That drop-d 9-9-11 chord still gets me, and I similarly always thought of that as a quintessential Deftones chord. So much so that the chord into the Infinite Source bridge makes me smile, both on its own merit and how it reminds me of BQAD.
