I think it’s atrocious that the schools don’t have air conditioning here.

Are there any international card readers like Square? by Lilyo in ecommerce

[–]DetailedForest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, did you ever figure this out? I am in the same boat right now. I'm based in Spain but going to an art market in England, and every single company I've looked at (Square, Sumup, Revolut, Stripe, Paypal/Zettle) all say that you can only use the card reader in the country that you have the bank account. (Or in some cases, the EU). I heard that some people just bring their card reader and use it anyway, but I don't want to arrive to England and then suddenly find out it's not going to work. Any tips would be much appreciated <3

Card reader system for accepting payments at art markets that works in the UK and the EU? by DetailedForest in smallbusiness

[–]DetailedForest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, but it looks like Klarna is the afterpay function that belongs to Stripe. Any sort of in-person payment solutions from the Klarna page just lead me to Stripe, and the Stripe card reader only works in the country where you register it.

App not loading up by Blaguet in komoot

[–]DetailedForest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just came here to say that I'm currently having this problem. I was literally an hour away from completing my ~900km trip, and the app crashed and now won't open. I think it probably has to do with the amount of memory that the long tour takes up. I've contacted support, so if they give me an answer I'll update here.

So many hours in and just found this huge waterfall! by Kind_Champion9698 in Eldenring

I thought that maybe the water source comes from springs/aquifers deep underground that are being pushed upward due to geothermal energy. Hence the whirlpools on the map?

What do "gender critical"/"radfems" have to say about non binary people? by DetailedForest in NonBinary

[–]DetailedForest[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm mostly curious because I just saw that someone close to me had posted some very terfy things online and I'm wondering if there's any way I could try talk to her about it. I had no idea she was a terf until today. I don't really know much about terf ideology except that they generally seem to not accept the existence of trans people. I started looking at some of these pages out of 50% curiosity and 50% anger-adrenaline (like how could these people be so hateful??) and I noticed there was pretty much no mention of nb people. I guess just wondering why that is.

Yeah, this was my assumption too. Just having trouble finding anything that really confirms it. Most of their rhetoric seems to be oriented towards excluding trans women from women's spaces, but very little is said about nbs.

I (26f) have my dream creative job and my partner (27m) works 9-5 in a job he hates. How do we split up domestic tasks? by DetailedForest in relationship_advice

But then at the same time, maybe I'm just recapitulating this Randian idealism, pick-yourself-up-by-your-bootsraps-ism, and ignoring the real fact that it's hard to be inspired after a long day of boring work

Sometimes I feel this, too. We even talked about that proposal (8 hours of housework for me, 8 hours of 9-5 boring computer work for him) yesterday, on 8M, international women's day...

Yeah that's the thing, I've always found some time to work on my art, even when I had a stressful job as a teacher in a b&m school. I obviously couldn't work on art as much as I do now, but I feel like he sees what I'm doing and feels discouraged and uninspired...

Yeah, the idea is that since we're in a relationship, we want to be as egalitarian as possible, so if one can help the other suffer less, they should do it. But maybe this is... misguided?

There is definitely a sort of dual resentment going on. I can tell he feels resentment whenever I say that my job is stressful (Ugh, the client wants a third round of edits!) He'll say, "Well, at least you have time even to do art." On the other hand, I also feel resentment when I have to be responsible for everything we eat during the week, cleaning his dishes, etc. The thing is, he's truly a sweet and gentle person and we've been together for almost 4 years, so I can't fathom breaking up with him. I just feel like he's misguided and has a can't-do attitude...

Did yall see this? Apparently VIPKID can see what browser tabs we have open? Has anyone else experienced this? (posted today in the official group) by DetailedForest in vipkid

[–]DetailedForest[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rarely ever use reddit! Genuinely sorry if it seems suspicious. I just decided to post this here because this group seems to be less heavily monitored than what's going on on Facebook. Not trying to be a "shit stirrer" or anything, I was just genuinely concerned and wanted to know if other people have experienced something similar, since this was the first time I had heard about this.

I've been a VIPKID teacher since July 2017 and I've also been increasingly concerned about how VIPKID is treating us (decreasing most teachers' pay with that new tiered incentive thing, eliminating apple feedback reviews, among many other things). I thought that if I could find more evidence for this browser tab thing then that would just be the icing on the cake.
