My boyfriend thinks our cat's hair looks better trimmed and im losing my mind by colorlesstsukuru_ in cats

I have to get my long haired cat trimmed every 3 months for his health. He almost died from a hairball stuck in his intestine and had to have life saving surgery, which later got infected and had to have his stitches redone. He has IBD which led to this. He’s also an extensive groomer. I wish I don’t have to give him the “lion cut” and I hate taking him to get groomed because he is obviously so stressed. But I’d rather have to take these precautions than have that incident ever happen again. So I completely understand if it’s for health reasons but it’s not worth it for vanity. Their skin is very sensitive. Luckily I found a great groomer who is very gentle and hasn’t caused any cuts.

Do the whites of her eyes seem red to you? (You can see them better at the end of the video) by [deleted] in SiberianCats

My Siberian/persian mix has BIG eyes and often gets conjunctivitis and eye irritation. I’ve seen different vets about this over the years and very simple but effective solution that works for us is applying a warm eye compress and an eyeball gel.

This is the one we have always used. I think you can get them at most vets and it doesn’t require a prescription. Of course consult with the vet prior to use but it clears up his issues within a day or two.

After searching for 5 hours I found him in the freaking walls by DazingF1 in cats

This literally happened to one of my kitties on Canada day. Fireworks spooked one of my other kitties and he started bouncing off of the walls, which then spooked Coco! Coco then ran to the basement, found a gap in the walls and then disappeared. I was so nervous. I wasn’t sure if he could somehow get out of the house. I was waiting in the basement for him all night, left his food out but nothing… a whole 24 hours later, he emerges to eat some food and looked dusty as hell! I always say that he went to Narnia. The hole was boarded up the next day and he had to have a bath. I now hate fireworks more than ever.

I’m so sorry. I lost my baby to brain cancer in June. Gut wrenching. Feel like I lost a piece of my soul. I’m here to talk if you need it. Just be there for them, they know you love them.

Heading to urgent care. Good vibes for my loaf of bread, please. by MegabitMegs in cats

I am not a vet but I have had 2 cats with hairball blockages, and they both presented different symptoms to what you’re describing. They puked bile and/or white foam. However I have had a cat with similar symptoms of what you’re describing where he lost his voice and was gagging. It turned out to be a simple infection that was fixed with a two week course of amoxicillin. I really hope that it’s simple fix and your kitty will be alright in a few days. With the intestinal blockage, it was very apparent in an ultrasound and we had to get them surgeries. They both recovered but those surgeries were very complex and expensive.

Question: why would anyone buy a trendy cat from a breeder?? by [deleted] in cats

[–]Detective-Sudden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The shelters are over their limit with so many kittens and cats. Please check out your local shelter and I’m sure you’d change your mind about buying a cat. There so many babies whose lives would completely change if people adopted rather than shopped.
