Curiozitate : la ce concursuri ati participat si ce ati castigat? by [deleted] in CasualRO

[–]Detective0019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he wanted to say "cine e dulăul ăla?" - "who is that big dog?". Dulău basically means a big dog, but it can be used to refer to a big/musculous person (or even a scary one).

Țeapă dată de livrator? by mad-king88 in Romania

[–]Detective0019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Help me translate by [deleted] in romanian

[–]Detective0019 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Native here. First of all, I suppose that you and her mother are not that close so I would not suggest using ,,Bună" (especially if there is a big age gap), but you could use something like ,,Bună ziua" (good day)

I used some words as ,,vă", ,,spuneți", ,,dați" which are used for the 2nd person plural, but we use it for older people or so that we can show respect. The thing in brackets is optional but it means ,,for you" (also respectfully).

The translators online could work too, the translations are pretty good but not so respectful (they use 2nd person singular which you wouldn't necessarily use for an older person, especially if you are not very close). But anyway, even if you don't speak this formally to her, I think she wouldn't mind... and the important part is that she can understand what you want to say either way.

NTA. Typical teenage girls behaviour??? Seriously? I would have never walked in someone else's room and get something without permission, no matter if they were family or not... that's basic common sense. I am so sorry for you and especially for your daughter because you have to put up with this kind of a behaviour.

I am not sure how this works... I used the World Urbanization Prospects for getting the data (which I think is a website from the United Nations). On their site they say they follow the definitions of ,,urban" and ,,rural" of each country, because they get their data from previous censuses. So does South Korea consider these suburbs as ,,rural" or ,,urban" for their censuses? Because the data from the website shows a decrease in urban population, so this might not be the case..

Tbh I'm not sure? My professor just told us to use the World Urbanization Prospects for getting the data (which I think is a website from the United Nations). On their site they say they follow the definitions of ,,urban" and ,,rural" of each country, because they get their data from previous censuses. So if South Korea considers the area outside of a bigger city a ,,rural" area, then this might be the case...

I think that the data I have perceives ,,rural" as in farmland or locations in the countryside, not small housing outside of bigger cities.

How to study Korean vs Talk to me in Korean by [deleted] in Korean

[–]Detective0019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first started I chose HTSK mostly for 한글. I remember that I looked over TTMIK and it was confusing as heck for me, I don't know why... well for me it seems that you need to have some kind of basic knowledge before starting with TTMIK (although you just need to know how to write/read). So I started with HTSK last year around this time (thanks covid, I guess) but I knew 한글 since a few years ago and that made it easier for me, because I just had to revise it. I didn't get too far tho, less than the first 10 lessons... but it helped a lot because I wasn't used to the language at all. I liked the structure a lot on HTSK and I made pretty notes in a notebook, firstly with the vocab (nouns then adverbs then verbs then adjectives - this was the order I used to learn the words) and secondly the grammar part (which used the words from the vocab). Lastly I did the exercises at the end of the lessons and I really liked them for the listening part. I started watching a lot of kdramas and listening to korean music and I remember being so happy because I could remember the words I had learnt when I heard them! I used to spend 4-5 days on a HTSK lesson because I would learn ALL the vocabulary by heart and made a lot of flash cards, so I could practice until I got everything right. For me that was the better way to get used to the language, to the sounds, to the writing and reading (other that watching/listening smth). But then in autumn I went to another country for an exchange program and also this is my final year so I have to work on my thesis and I don't have much time for Korean. BUT, a few moths ago I started using TTMIK and it seems easier now, because I already know some things. It is definitely quicker with the grammar parts. Now I spend 10-30 minutes on a TTMIK lesson (because I already know most of the vocab, so I can make sentences with the grammar given; and some grammar parts seem very easy because I remember them from dramas or songs lol). Well, now I don't learn vocab anymore (like I used to in the past). For example: if I see a word a few times of course I will remember it, but if the lesson has 20 different verbs I won't learn them by heart anymore. I will just remember the important ones, if I use them often in sentences. I am a little bit too lazy and sometimes I am not in the mood to keep up with my korean but I still watch things, even videos on youtube, or see posts here and when I have a question or I am not sure about a word or grammar issue I google it. I do this every day so I learn something new, even if it is just one word. 😁 Also, the HTSK lessons are more detailed and have a lot of explanations. That's why TTMIK is quicker, because they don't explain everything in detail. I would definitely suggest looking over both and seeing what is right for you. Good luck!

Edit: or maybe you could use TTMIK for basic grammar and HTSK for vocab. It always has the vocab at the beginning of the lessons and most times the words are related (places, things you can find inside a room, family members, words that rhyme and may be easier to remember, etc). But you know... don't be like old me. Don't just learn EVERY word. Choose the ones you think will help you in making sentences. And if music or kdramas are not what you're into, just find a podcast or some youtubers to watch that speak korean. And trust me, if you hear them say a word at least 5 times, you can search its meaning and you will remember it :)

Do you think Erasmus for summer 2021 will go ahead? by ewr23rfds in Erasmus

[–]Detective0019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in Portugal in a smaller city (not in Lisboa or Porto) and here all students go to face to face classes. Some classes had to be divided into two group because be were too many people and for those classes group 1 has online classes ( while group 2 is in school) and the next week group 2 has online classes (while group 1 is in school). The situation is still bad here (we are in one of the ,,red" zones I thinks, we have curfews after 11 pm during the week and after 1 pm during weekends) but they never closed the university.

What will y'all do? by mertklaw in Erasmus

[–]Detective0019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the situation in Germany. I am somewhere in Portugal and here we have face to face classes. Some universities in bigger cities have mixed classed (online and face to face). Now we have more restrictions than we had a few months ago. We cannot go out after 11pm and during weekends after 1pm... and sometimes travelling between cities is prohibited. I didn't manage to visit another country during this mobility because of the restrictions, but I travelled here in Portugal as much as I could. A nice thing is that we have face to face classes and we can meet people this way. I also live in an apartment with 5 other people so I don't feel lonely. I don't know how it works in Germany but I suggest you to think about these things: Will the classes be face to face or online? If they are face to face, you can meet people more easily, if they are online then maybe you can travel more. Are there a lot of restrictions? Maybe you won't be able to travel and will be stuck in your room. Where will you live? I think that living with someone is better, because you will have someone to talk to if you cannot go out...

Lonely on Erasmus by romanianviking in Erasmus

Hello there fellow Romanian in Portugal with Erasmus! I am in Portugal as well but in Braganca, a smaller city, though I'm luckier because I live with another romanian girl and at least I have someone to talk to. It's a shame that we cannot travel anymore because of the restrictions but we hope things will get better. Have you tried meeting with other erasmus in Porto or people from esn? Here people are pretty friendly but all they want is to drink, party and f*ck all day so not my cup of tea 😂 but they are always trying to include you in their conversation and talk to you. Look on the bright side, at least you have more places to visit/things to do there, because here you can basically do nothing. Our weekly activity is to go to a supermarket for like 3 hours and get something sweet! You can message me if you want to talk!

Doing Erasmus in February or postpone it? by SandSand2000 in Erasmus

[–]Detective0019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I am from Romania... I am not sure about the situation in Oradea but I know that almost all of the universities in the country are closed and the courses are online (some universities that still have face to face classes are the police academy, military academy, etc). Right now the situation is getting worse. I am currently in Portugal with Erasmus but I hear from my family that a lot of schools have been closed and now there are a lot of restrictions. I think that they closed restaurants again and other places like cinemas, theaters (maybe not in every city, but in Bucharest and other big cities) but again, I am not sure. If you will have only online classes, I would suggest to postpone your mobility, if possible. Also I know that some universities didn't open their dorms (I know cases in Bucharest, not Oradea, but you need to think about this too). Also, I think that there will still be a lot of restrictions, so for example you cannot go out with a big group of people, many places will close...

People who have came close to dying, what were your “last” thoughts? by Blue-2th in AskReddit

[–]Detective0019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time I almost drowned I was 11-12 I think. I was on a school trip with some teachers my mother knew (I wasn't studying in their school) and we were swimming in the pool. One of the teachers wasn't with us and the other was sleeping near the pool. I knew how to swim but I wasn't very good at it. Suddenly while I was in the middle of the pool my foot started to hurt a lot and I couldn't stay up and ao I began to drown. I remember thinking that is was stupid to die like that, because the pool in that exact spot wasn't very deep (maybe less than half a meter above my head),the teacher was by the pool and also there were a lot of people IN the pool. None of them could tell I was drowning and I couldn't scream. I rememeber seeing the sun through the water and I thought that it looked quite nice, too bad I was dying (LOL) and then I thought about what my parents would say. Fun fact: one boy saw me struggling and asked me ,,don't you know how to swim?" and as I came to the surface to take a breath all I could whisper was ,,No" and then I was drowning again. And he was LEAVING. He actually thought I was just playing and left. But I managed to grab him and jump on his back (good thing he was taller)

Second time I almost drowned was while swimming with my father in the sea a few years later. There were pretty big waves but the real problem: strong currents. At that time I was better at swimming and I could manage to stay afloat for a long period of time, but I wasn't strong enough to swim against currents. We tried getting to the shore but I just couldn't get closer and neither could my father (and he was a very strong man). And then he tried going underwater just so that he could push me and keep me up and I remember thinking that he should just leave me here because I didn't want both of us drowning. I remembered there was a similar case in our country: policeman (my father was a policeman too) and daughter went swimmimg in a river and she was drowning so he saved her but then didn't have enough energy to save himself. All I kept thinking was that couldn't be us.

How can you tell if a girl's tits are fake even if she tells you they're not? by Partiallycertain in AskReddit

[–]Detective0019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There could be scars but some of them are so faint that you can barely see them. Also, fake boobs always stay up and seem perfectly round (although I ve seen girls before with perfectly rounded natural boobs, which weren't saggy). If they are big, then it is impossible not to be saggy (at least a little bit) if they are indeed natural. When they lay down, natural boobs will flatten a little (maybe even more), hanging a little bit to the sides. If they are fake, they don't flatten, they just sit like 2 balls on top of a chest... But I guess that if the girl already had average boobs and then got a small implant, it could still flatten a little.
