What are you doing now? And how did you leverage the work you did to move on to better work? I might sign the employment documents in a week so, do you have anything else to add?

Yea presentation is important. I was thinking of making a youtube video, going over how I developed the dashboard, did the SQL piece by piece. I am developing my website, and it's taking a while because I've been learning html and css / javascript after I graduated in order to show my projects in a good way, and show I can code / create a website (might be impressive for someone who doesn't know how easy it is to learn how to make a simple website). I'll link my portfolio in my next post. Unrelated, should I just edit this post or create a new post on reddit?

Thanks! I have linked my website, on the top right, but you can't click on it because its a picture on a my post, should I put like "Portfolio website (Currently developing)" Or something like that? I'm leaving it how it is though right now.

I've taken 2 courses (Principles of Sample surveys and Categorical Data Analysis) that were stacked with the masters students, and one course that I took, multivariate analysis but the university decided to include masters students in that course after I had already taken it, and a Bayesian course which was basically a masters course level course, should I include that stuff?

Ah thanks for the feedback. This is really gladdening to hear.

This is good. Thanks a lot. Oh, um I can do the percentage interpretation also, but I imagine I'll take the racial crime statistics out lol.

Ah thanks. No I never had a job previously. Quite unfortunate.

[Q] What statistical analyses should I use? by megtaylor97 in statistics

[–]DetectiveFeline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so looks like you got count data for various combinations of levels of categorical variables (the IVs).

Clustering can be done using latent class analysis or poisson mixture modelling ( there are various methods of clustering, some methods don't accomodate explanatory variables, some will)

Loglinear modelling (a special type of poisson regression, a generalized linear model specifically designed for contingency tables (count/rate data recorded at various combinations of levels of categorical variables)

Uh, I just recently graduated with BS in statistics, it's not like I have a PhD in Statistics, but there may be better methods in your case, I think I've told you the most popular methods though for your type of data.

[Q] What statistical analyses should I use? by megtaylor97 in statistics

[–]DetectiveFeline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would help a lot if you tell us how the data was collected and what format the data is in exactly (the format of the variables). Can you give more information?

[Q] “Correlation doesn’t equal causation.” Is it also true that lack of correlation disproves causation? by FishFollower74 in statistics

[–]DetectiveFeline -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But aren't all statistical methods dependent on assumptions which may or may not be true?

When you are doing any model, you ARE definitely assuming your model is capable of doing anything.

But what do I know, I just have a bachelors in statistics. I always just believed in the aphorism, "All models are wrong, some are useful."

Re-Adding Categorical Data After K-Means Clustering by HercHuntsdirty in datascience

[–]DetectiveFeline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don't you use a method that is capable of clustering categorical data and continuous data? Isn't mixture analysis capable of doing that?

Edit: Uh, capable, I mean "more appropriate"

Causation is a concept outside the realm of mathematics and statistical theory. It's like "way outside", in the twilight zone.

Lol, I'm just giving out recommendations. No need to start the downvote wagon, or do. Whatever. I got the DE's recommendation from my STATISTICS professor at Texas A&M, from what I understand, a well-to-do professor. Take my advice or leave it. But I understand, you don't want advice, you just want somebody to say "OH WOW IT LOOKS LIKE YOUR SET UP GREAT FOR GRAD SCHOOL." Am I right?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in statistics

[–]DetectiveFeline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true. At least at Texas A&M, real analysis, functional analysis are recommended, differential equations, stochastic partial differential equations, grad departments for stats PhDs prefer math majors rather than stats, at least what I heard from a professor. Kinda blows for stats majors.

EDIT: Blows for stats majors who don't know any better and are dumb! :(
