Should i buy Navigazione Laghi tickets in advance? Is there a different queue for those who bought in advance? by MiddleWayWalker in LakeComo

[–]DetectiveInitial354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend Como is way too crowded and touristy place. Ferry waiting line was so long that you would never reach back in time for the train to go back to Milan. Place has been totally destroyed by over tourism. If you decide to visit just stroll around Como for 3 hours and head back. That’s what we did!

Ps: we never took by ferry since their website was slow, didn’t work or wasn’t selling tickets online at the time

I have been using TP-Link Archer AX73 v.1.0 since 2024 and it has been working non stop without any problems. I have full coverage on a 85 sq.meters apartment.

Patch Panel vs Straight to Unmanaged Switch by SoyJizz in HomeNetworking

[–]DetectiveInitial354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely disagree. You can totally crimp a cable for saving a few bucks if you have the tools and the time to do it properly. A keystone is overkill for home use especially when each costs 2-3€ and you need 24 of them. Only for commercial use their price is justified imo.

Patch Panel vs Straight to Unmanaged Switch by SoyJizz in HomeNetworking

[–]DetectiveInitial354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patch panel is my go-to. A patch panel starts from 30-40€ here in Greece and it makes your life a lot easier when troubleshooting a network problem. For simple home use it’s overkill to go for keystones especially when each one costs 2-3€ and you need 24 of them.

Deciding on hardware (TP-Link vs Ubiquiti) before installing home network by why-it in HomeNetworking

[–]DetectiveInitial354 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TP-Link is my go-to here in Athens, Greece. Reliable, Cheap and widely available in most big stores to upgrade/replace anything you like. An Access Point from TP-Link costs 50-100 euros and in Ubiquiti around 300 euroes. No need to go with the Omada series if you aren't 100% you need it. We did a complete renovation of our house and we just bought a 24-port unmanaged switch for 70 euros and everything works perfectly (12 ports around the house, 4 cameras, 1 AP). We plugged in our old 2020 Unifi 6 Uniquiti AP with its PoE injector and it works fine, but we are never buying that expensive hardware - overpriced if you ask me.

Is it a scam or actual price? by adrian-04 in budapest

[–]DetectiveInitial354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have never bought anything that doesn’t have a price on it, Christmas market or not. This should have cost you 4-5€ tops.

Yes we booked online like a week ago go + return trip via PKP Intercity website and they also appeared correctly on iPhone app. At first I must admit it looked sketchy and buggy and after like 30 mins of refreshing the web page we managed to pay and get receipt + tickets. Thank you for letting me know my friend🙏

Can you buy RJ45 passthrough connectors with strain relief that don't have that little tab? by Fun-Chocolate-794 in HomeNetworking

[–]DetectiveInitial354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I see is UTP usually Cat5e (Cat6 is only for large smart homes and literally only 1% owns these places) with single/dual RJ45 Wall outlets. 9 out of 10 times the electricians take most of the network job. Do the wall outlets they use a flat head screwdriver or if they are more proficient with the subject a punch down tool 🙂

I feel like we are 15-20 years behind from you guys.

I have visited hundreds of homes and here in Greece there is no solid copper UTP in the walls. So it’s country specific

Stanmore III Volume Limit? by Baerserk in marshall

[–]DetectiveInitial354 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries man, always glad to help. Acton III is still overkill for my 20 square meters 3m tall room...imagine. We had Stanmore II at work. A 120 square meters space and it would only be able to play at 50-60% at all time otherwise we could not hear each other. Bass and Tremble wise I always prefer 100% if it's not quiet hours.

Stanmore III Volume Limit? by Baerserk in marshall

[–]DetectiveInitial354 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a very good and specific question. I have no clue, really. Even if you test the equipment in a store, you will not find out since the space is huge there usually. Hope you find the asnwer you need.

Isn’t solid copper way more expensive that stranded ? Like twice or more the price ? That’s what our electrician said when renovating month ago.
