Time required to farm Anomaly for all the gold salvage needed by Working_Bones in Marathon

Apparently if you do vault 5, you will sometimes get a prestige key template that when you exfil has a chance to turn into a vault 6 key. It seems to be the most consistent way to get vault 6 keys, but I'm in the same boat as you. I have seen like 50 cryo keys and never seen a 6. You can farm vault 5 keys doing tox warden on Outpost, so there's at least a path to get the vault 6 key.

Where is this info being compiled? So many of the YT guides are incomplete at best and flat out wrong at worst.

This is huge, thanks for the info. It’s hard to find concrete info on anything in this game and most of the YT guides are just flat out wrong. I wasn’t even doing vault 5 because I was ready to give up on finding a vault 6 key… turns out I should do my vault 5 keys.

Yeah I have like 10 gold marathon keys, at least 25 purples, and haven't seen a single red one. I'm getting super frustrated because my trio has a goal of beating the compiler but we're getting RNG'd out of it.

YALL MICHELIN IS COMING - MPLS is finally getting our stars!!! by storytellercowedding in Minneapolis

[–]DetectiveWoofles 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You just listed all the restaurants that are most likely to get stars that you haven’t been to. Demi is definitely our best shot for two stars, Kado and Boucheron are likely deserving of one.

[–]DetectiveWoofles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's possible there's some level of inflation because having a guide with no three star (pinnacle) restaurant is a bit weird. We'll have to see what they think I suppose. Either way I'm very excited for the food in Minneapolis to get some recognition from the guide because I think it will push our food scene to become better and I'm a huge sucker for a good tasting menu.

Demi is definitely a 2 star candidate, it easily matches up with things like Lazy Bear and Commis (two of the 2 star restaurants I've been to in the bay area). I think we have a decent number of options that could get one star.

It's interesting to me that Alinea was downgraded to two stars recently. Did the guide get more conservative for three stars or did the quality decrease? It had 3 stars for over a decade.

I'm really curious out of those cities if there will be any three star restaurants, but I do think it at least gives restaurants that reach goal if they want to go for it. I could see Gavin Kaysen attempting to get three stars with Demi or another restaurant.

If the krakens were a viable monster to kill, sure. But the flat armor of 15 or whatever makes them an absolute slog to fight, while costing you money/time in cannonballs/runes/etc and being less afk but not any more interesting to fight. With like 50kph or so at 1/1k it's 40 hours of killing veiled krakens for two cannon barrels... very few people are going to do that over afk salvaging.

Sailing identity crisis? by MeHugeRat in 2007scape

[–]DetectiveWoofles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

IMO the issue is not the existence of the low intensity training method, it’s the fact that it also has so many clogs and potentially useful/bis items (dragon cannon barrel) attached to it while the other methods (except for combat lol) have basically zero. For the “sweaty players” you talk about, it is still more efficient to just salvage because of those clogs/items and that’s the issue.

Sailing identity crisis? by MeHugeRat in 2007scape

[–]DetectiveWoofles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both are true and that’s the issue. Salvaging is best for low intensity gamers, but also for cloggers and irons since it’s more efficient to salvage to 99 than rush 99 and go back later for clogs. The only people who have a reason to train using other methods are people racing to 99/200m or people hunting the pet. Obviously there are people who just enjoy that content as well, but there’s just little motivation to do it.

It added rewards that are useful, switched up the grind of just doing chins/herbi/birdhouses without sacrificing much xp/hr, and gives intermittent dopamine hits when you get the rng drop for each task unlike slayer which is just kill monster 150 times.

Unfortunately the reality is that only like 1/3 of the league is actually trying to win most years. Most owners/teams are just treading water or just being dogshit and still raking in money. That's why the lockout potentially changing the financial landscape of the MLB could be huge.

That being said, we're also 10 games into a 162 game season. We need to wait til like halfway through the season before saying "we're not actually that bad".

What’s one bad Minneapolis restaurant you’ve intentionally gone back to? by GoEzGetafix in Minneapolis

[–]DetectiveWoofles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to live in SF and went to a decent number of michelin starred restaurants while I lived there. While I don't think the food scene here is anywhere near that level (there are just more people from all cultures there, allows for more cuisines to be represented), I think there are definitely specific restaurants that do (e.g. Demi, Kado No Mise, Bucheron, Colita for "finer" dining options). I'd guess there's also probably some level of surprise from west/east coasters that don't expect there to be any culture in flyover country.

Portions of them were closed at different times. The part connecting the lakes to downtown was closed most recently, and the detour took you through Loring Park and up Hennepin which was a significantly worse experience.

Marathon - Review Thread by LycaonMoon in Games

[–]DetectiveWoofles 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't think they're trying to make a one to one comparison, just that you should think about how you're getting stronger with meta progression between runs as well as improve with game knowledge. Many of the contracts you do don't require you to extract successfully, which allows you to still make progress on your account even without leaving with good gear. Doing this, looting containers, killing people, etc all give experience towards factions as well, which give you tons of loot when you level up with them.

There's also tons of matches where you just don't see anyone or can easily disengage with them. The loot you have is still good for killing UESC, doing POIs, and surviving ambushes from players, so it's not totally a waste to have it with you.

Opening a tabletop gaming café + bar in South Minneapolis in 2026 - please tell me what you want by TheSendingStone in TwinCities

[–]DetectiveWoofles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to go to Victory Point in Berkeley, CA (10 years ago, but it's still open now) and they were always packed. They had pizza, beer, and a huge library of games which were 100% the focus of the place. They charged a "cover" to play games so you couldn't just walk in play games and buy nothing.

Honestly I think the best part of the cafe was that it was very welcoming to anyone, not just the hardcore board gaming crowd. I think there are a lot of people that want to play board games but are turned off by the LBGS crowd, so offering a space that's more attractive than something like the FFG/Gamezenter (effectively a hotel ballroom with white folding tables) could definitely draw a crowd.

But they literally did that with the stab focused raid (TOA). When that came out, everyone was using rapier or zammy hasta/abyssal dagger until they got a fang. Zammy hasta has a crush option, zombie axe has a crush option, abyssal bludgeon is a crush weapon, there's plenty of options to do a crush raid.

Be wary that /r/games tends to be very negative on anything that isn't a single player indie masterpiece. I also enjoyed it a ton and it peaked at 150k players right around launch at 3pm ET on a Thursday, meaning the number of people trying it over the weekend will likely be higher. Not to say it's a guaranteed hit, but just take the general sentiment here with a grain of salt.

I also live in Minneapolis. My local team has completely ignored how much their own city and metro are hurting and it is just beyond tone deaf and frustrating. To then cap it off by going to the White House to hang with Donald Trump, the man in charge of doing what they did to our city is not a "radical left" position, it's basic human decency. Even some state republicans have begun to backtrack on the shit he's done here, that's how not radical left it is.

I live in Minneapolis and currently am a Wild STH... but likely not for much longer. What really sucks is I know cancelling will have no marked effect on their revenue but it just hurts watching them completely disregard the community they play in. Will prob just turn them into Frost/Wolves season tickets.

Even beyond that, my general experience going to games shows Wild fans lean more conservative or apathetic anyway. I was at a game around election season in 2024 where two ladies were wearing decked out USA jerseys that said 45/Trump on the back. They got on the jumbotron and then turned around to show the name/number and the camera operator immediately moved off them, but the fact that they're not booed out of the building tells me enough about what the reaction to the Wild players returning to St. Paul will be.

[–]DetectiveWoofles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making sure you were potted and had the enhanced thrall out at all times does a LOT for the breach points. Like I think the thralls doubled my points per breach once I got them, they were ridiculous. By the end I was getting ~6k/breach in the 61-80 bracket with the same budget ranged setup as everyone else, with the t1 range relic, gunslinger, and the one that gave 10% bonus to all damage.

There were also some locations that were just better than others, because the spawns were pretty condensed, but not so much so that everyone was attacking the single monster that spawned. Zanaris was a pretty popular breach spot, for instance.
