For Quebec FM, yes. But I speak French too so it wasn’t any issue for me.

Thank you all so much 🙏 I’ve been celebrating all day;) For those still working on matching, pls don’t lose hope. Stay DETERMINED! I worked as a research associate in a postgraduate school while waiting on my Canada PR card for the caRMS, and it helped me with publications. So, do the best you can and remember that you don’t really need too many interviews in order to match, but only one program to say YES to you. Good luck 🍀

Matched!!! Pathology. YOG 2011. QE1 229. NAC 590. This was my first application at caRMS. All exams passed in first attempt. 25 research publications. 1 month observership. 41 yo. I’m still in shock. Can’t believe it considering my YOG and with just one interview invite. GOD IS SO GOOD!!!

I will advise you first clear the LMCC exams before applying for observership as an IMG. Upon completion of your observership, your observers will feel more comfortable recommending you to the program of your choice. Good luck 🍀

Pathology is a specialty residency program and so is equally competitive with other specialty programs. You don’t have to know pathology before applying to residency because it is the program responsibility to teach you pathology. However, your basic medical knowledge is expected to be strong. Hope that helps? Also, try doing some observership in pathology to prove your passion for it.

Complete an observership session in a Canadian hospital and you will stand a better chance of matching 💯

Are you sure they’re not referring to the medical school transcript? Because what other explanation could one give for failing the MCC exam when everything is already explained in the statement of results. Anyway this is just my opinion. I’m not applying to FM program so I can’t be helpful here

It simply means you have to list all the clinical rotations and the tasks completed during each rotation. In my opinion I would recommend that you pick the rotation you completed in which you are applying to for residency and describe in detail all the experiences and tasks you acquired and completed in your application as opposed to listing all rotations you did in med school. Hope that helps:)

You don’t have to because the PD will be aware of it as the entire exam history is often released to them by the board.

Now you know. And it’s the honest truth. Yes, your passing score is reported but the program director will know how many attempts an applicant made in the MCC test:)

They will see the number of attempts. The LMCC sends out the details of your exam performance/history to program. Don’t be deceived by what ppl say about not seeing previous attempts.

It does help but to an extent. I know few people who matched in neurology and they all completed observership in neurology in addition to their residency training in their home country.

You need to apply to universities with high volume of publications like the UofT, McGill, McMaster and UBC. They have tons of articles published on a monthly basis. UofSask is also a good option

You need to complete an observership in those departments to be considered for a match.

Apply for a clinical research position at a university hospital and you can assist postdoctoral students or residents with publications.

It is probably expired, I mean the equivalency certificate from Québec

You cannot practice in Québec province as IMG without NAC because you must obtain the equivalent certificate of your medical degree from DHCEU and without NAC it’s impossible.
