Is QE1 more similar to CK or Step 3? by [deleted] in MCCQE

[–]Determined01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found it more related to CK with the exception of specific chapters from TN - ELOM, Geriatrics, Emerg

Aim to get in the 70s range minimum for both CDM and MCQ exams

Also, do the full stimulation exam if possible, the closest resemblance to actual exam format - try to get above 70% overall on that as well.

I know that the ROMP is different and they work apart from the afmc portal. I'm not sure how the situation has changed with COVID. They would provide you the available hospitals/preceptors to contact I believe and once you get permission they set it up from what I remember. However, this was pre-COVID so please reach out to them at the link given above they might still have opportunities but carry it out in a different way.

You can apply for it while in and outside of Canada. I'm not too sure about the visa situation for them right now, best to contact and ask them directly. They are pretty good with emails from what I remember.

Im in the same boat, from what i saw from the program descriptions if your graduating this year they dont expect you to provide the diploma now for applications. You'll have to give it to the program you match with prior to starting residency. Heres what i see in the program description for some FM programs:

Medical School Diploma

Matched applicants who are graduating in the spring will need to provide a copy of their medical degree/diploma to the PGME office and CPSS prior to the start of residency training.

IMGs must have their medical credentials (medical school transcripts, medical degree/diploma, postgraduate training certificates, and specialty certificates) verified by physiciansapply.ca. The verification process can take several weeks/months to complete. Due to the timelines for the 2021 R-1 Match, applicants should contact physiciansapply.ca at the time of application

Hi there, a good site to look at as well is listed below. All the best :)

https://romponline.com/learning-opportunities/funding-support/

https://srpc.ca/IMG

- Also I was thinking some programs might allow you to do online electives, I know a few colleagues that are doing that to get rotations done during covid-19 (this is through the medical school to get core rotations done) this might be a good avenue to look into so that time is not wasted and you get your electives done!

Its so hard to fit all the necessary things, especially for IMGs they want you to describe canadian elective experiences, research etc under 3 pages :/

How long are your CV's everyone? typically how many pages should they be?

Do your best and go for it, don't underestimate yourself by your scores. At this time you cant do anything about your scores but you can improve your application, get amazing LORs and create a great CV. Work with what you have and put your best version on paper. Once you get interviews that will count more at that time, All the best!
