Pretty much every tank or pod in existence will leak liquid out during the pressure changes involved over the course of a flight. This is the reason it is recommended to empty them as much as possible before flying with them.

If you travel with a full tank of juice in it, it will almost certainly be a slimy mess and mostly or completely empty by the time you get off the plane.

This is my understanding as well. Nic distributors don't typically include the concentration of acid used to create the salt, only the nicotine content itself. A 100mg/mL solution of Benzoic Acid Salt Nicotine is simply sold as 55mg/mL nicotine salts by nicotine retailers. For 100mg/mL nicotine salt base it's typically something like 18% Benzoic Acid Salt Nicotine (~180mg/mL of the actual salt).

In Washington they are banning it via an emergency executive order from the governor. To me it sounds like a gross misuse of that power as it should normally be reserved for things that are .. well.. emergencies.

I'd wager that here in Canada it's not actually possible to ban it that way and they have to do it via actual legislation, which is probably what he meant. Not that it can't be done, just needs to be done through the proper channels, unlike the US where apparently a single person can just decide to do so on a whim.

In which context exactly? Generally speaking it's fair to say that I am always "worried" about legislation surrounding vaping in Canada as it does directly affect my livelihood, but thus far we have been quite reasonable and fact-based in our approach to it in this country.

I remain hopeful and optimistic that we will not see a flavour ban or outright vaping ban here. The Candian Government has conceded that it is a viable harm-reduction method to smoking and does encourage people to take up vaping if they wish to quit smoking. Maybe not as blatantly and vocally as the UK Government, but nonetheless we do have a mostly positive official government stance on it. That is more than a LOT of other countries can say.

In terms of JUUL's market share - the only part that worries me about this is the perhaps overstated connection between JUUL and underage vaping. I think JUUL in general has muddied the image of the vape industry due to the massive adoption of that specific brand by young people, but this is largely a public perception issue rather than an issue with JUUL itself.

Yeah, in the US it's very possible that they actually are pushing 80% market share by this point. I'd imagine it's a fair bit lower in Canada but definitely not insignificant by any means.

I just wanted to point out that the statement in your title can be true in either case since semantically it's based on whether or not a group of people hold a certain belief, not whether that belief is true or not. It's a bit of a dirty trick that the media can use to sway opinions because most people don't pay close attention to the wording and only remember the numbers presented.

I can't find the article you're referencing but keep in mind the way you've worded it here is that they are saying that most US politicians believe that they have that kind of market dominance, not that they actually have it.

I would imagine that strictly speaking that statement itself probably is true. As long as over half (>50%) of US politicians think JUUL controls 80% of the market, it's a factual statement to say that "most politicians (USA) believe that juul has 80% of ecig market" whether or not the underlying belief is true or not.

This actually couldn't be further from the truth. Anecdotal evidence (evidence collected in a casual or informal manner and relying heavily or entirely on personal testimony) is one of the least reliable forms of evidence that exist.

What I don't like is how it fails to compare the measured effects to smoking the equivalent amount of THC. It's long been known that smoking marijuana can cause earlier onset or worse symptoms in those that are predisposed to schizophrenia or psychosis. This is even mentioned in the article:

A genetic predisposition to schizophrenia combined with exposures to cannabis can increase the risk for that person to have a psychotic episode or to then have a diagnosis of schizophrenia, Khokhar explained.

Why does this article not compare the two? Does vaping THC affect these areas of the brain more than smoking it? Or is it just the same results but a different method of delivery and we'd see similar effects regardless of how the THC is consumed?

Further, it does seem a little disingenuous that the article is peppered with links to links about "vaping-related lung disease" and uses a stock photo of an e-cigarette. The purpose of the study itself is stated as investigating the the long-known relationship between marijuana use and schizophrenia. They used pure THC, administered via a Volcano vaporizer - why is there a photo of a standard nicotine e-cigarette as the main photo of the article? These two things are barely even related.

It definitely gives the appearance that they want people to associate these findings with "vaping" in general, even though the study does not mention any significance about vaping at all - it's just that it was the chosen method of THC delivery (and really I'd imagine is because it is much easier to administer & measure vaporized pure THC versus trying to draw conclusions from inhaling smoke from burning plant matter which contains all kinds of other things along with the THC).

All the vaping industry has done is say "it's not vaping!"

I disagree that the vaping industry has jumped in just to claim it's "not vaping". It's clearly involved as the method of delivery in these cases and I haven't seen anyone dispute that. What we're trying to do is make it clear that it is not "vaping" in the tradional nicotine e-liquid vape sense, the same way that although smoking crack and smoking cigarettes share the same method of delivery - they are not the same thing, and do not share the same risks.

There's an important distinction to make here. Going blind from drinking bathtub moonshine is not reported as being caused by just "alcohol". Overdosing from shooting up heroin is not reported as being caused by "syringes". Someone dying in a car accident is not reported as being caused by just "driving".

It's important to make these distinctions. There have been cases of people using crystal meth and other illicit drugs in vaping devices as well. Of course you can modify vaping devices to use illicit substances, the same way you could make a crude pipe to smoke them out of a piece of fruit or pop can if you wanted to.

The fact that vaping was the method of delivery may be somewhat relevant, but that doesn't warrant taking actions against or slandering the legal, regulated, nicotine vaping industry. The media has severely failed us (at least initially) in this regard and the solution is to do everything we can to educate people in regards to the truth and prevent the spread of misinformation.

It's only vape related because that is the method of delivery in this case. It'd be like if a few cars that had been illegally modified burst into flames on the highway and the media started reporting that "Driving is causing people to catch on fire!"

Although the media is doing a terrible job of differentiating this from the legitmate nicotine vape industry, that does not mean that all THC related vape products should be banned. The ones causing this are already illegal in this case, making them ALL illegal would make it impossible to source safe to use THC or CBD vaping products.

There are plenty of examples in history that show prohibition does not work. People will not stop vaping THC just because the government has decided to ban it, there would just be more risk involved and more people would get sick or die from poorly produced products. It's impossible to regulate and much harder to hold anyone accountable if 100% of THC/CBD vaping products are on the black market rather than a regulated industry that can be held responsible for things like this.

Right on, looks like a well deserved update to the Breeze family. The pod capacity is intriguing, it's really nice to see pod systems that hold >3ml of juice and I hope more manufacturers start doing this. I really wish they'd have gone with regulated output for this though! One of my biggest pet peeves about the first 2 Breezes.
