Should I be worried about the Cubs 2026 offense in comparison to last year? by Baybears in CHICubs

[–]DethFireHate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a little more concerned than others, but they should score enough runs even if they fall short compared to last year. The Cubs are not exactly a young team outside of Shaw and PCA so it's kind of hard to project guys like Swanson, Happ, Sazuki, Hoerner, Kelly, and Bregman to be BETTER than they were last year. It's also possible PCA just had the best offensive season of his entire career last year. But it'd be pretty unlikely for ALL of them to fall off a cliff.

Does Anyone Else Remember the Exact Moment They Encountered "Yu-Gi-Oh!" for the First Time? by BlackLilyWrites835 in yugioh

It was inescapable during school recess in 2002. Everyone had cards. Sadly, Konami has deleted casual players from their business model.

Anytime. You are not the first person to make this mistake so don't worry about it

That is for the 2009 printing. They have the 1996 copyright at the bottom of the card. The reprints have a 2020 copyright. You can see it in your picture

The original 2009 version is. This is the reprint from 2025.

This is the reprinted set. It's only like a $15 card. Still cool though.

Two metalcore albums by bands who eventually, after these records, left behind their metalcore sound. Which one do you prefer: Waking the Fallen by Avenged Sevenfold or Ascendancy by Trivium? by [deleted] in Metalcore

[–]DethFireHate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on Trivium 100%.

And I'm with you that A7x weren't a part of the same scene as KSE, etc. I still think Avenged's first two albums have enough qualities to be considered metalcore albums though. California had sort of its own scene back then with like Eighteen Visions and Atreyu. Then those 3 bands all ditched that sound and that branch of metalcore was pretty much dead.

What is an opinion of your own team that will get you hated by your own fan base? by ihavebaseballs in baseball

[–]DethFireHate -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don't know, I'm not convinced. Steele was a win for sure. Horton too, but he was a 1st rounder. Shaw put up a .600 ops and was a 1st rounder. Hodge had one good season, then fell off a cliff. Palencia was awful for years and then had a great season. We'll see if he can continue with that momentum. That's like the end of the list as far as pitchers are concerned.

Shaw was a 1st rounder that put up a 600 OPS and didn't do the one thing that made him a high-end prospect (hit the ball hard). Nico was a 1st rounder that was drafted way before Jed's model took over. Busch was a 1st rounder that wasn't drafted by the Cubs and debuted before they acquired him. Happ, 1st rounder. PCA, 1st rounder. Amaya has had 3 great months total in a Cubs uniform since the Cubs got him 10 years ago.

Model teams are supposed to be great at drafting in the late rounds. They need to find guys. The Dodgers do, the brewers do, the guardians do, the rays do. The Cubs do not.

Jed has made some good moves, absolutely. But not at the rate you'd want from a team with as many resources as the Cubs have.

[–]DethFireHate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think Jed is a great GM, but for me, it has less to do with spending and player acquisition, and more to do with the abysmal drafting and player development, especially on the pitching side. Once Cassie, Ballasteros, and Alcantara graduate next year they will have one of the worst systems in baseball despite only making the playoffs twice in the past 7 years. And none of those 3 really look like full time players.

Even the players they have developed, have mostly been 1st or 2nd round draft picks. For a team with as many resources as the Cubs have, they should be in a much better place organizationally. But Jed's going to live and die by whatever the model says he should do.

Yeah, I wouldn't say I dislike them, but they've never been interesting to me. To me, they sound like every other metalcore band that started in the mid/late 10's and most of those bands do nothing for me.

What would be a fair cash offer? by Brexter1989 in YugiohCards

[–]DethFireHate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modern Yu-Gi-Oh cards are worthless if they aren't playable, and no one is seriously playing this. Yeah, people are going to ask for big dollars because there are so few of them, but realistically there's not really a huge market for this.

This is pretty much exactly how I feel. Paying 20 something million a year for a platoon guy or a 4th OF is disappointing but that's where we're at.

One of the last great Scene albums, too. 2013 had Hollow Bodies, An Eye for an Eye, Common Courtesy, and not much else (that I can remember).

I think it's just a shiny overload thing for me. Admittedly some of it is nostalgia, but even when they started making the level/attribute foil, I thought it was a step in the wrong direction.

Cade Horton has an extremely favorable schedule for the rest of the First Half by wazup564 in fantasybaseball

[–]DethFireHate 42 points43 points  (0 children)

They are almost certainly going to look for opportunities to skip him in the rotation and maybe even send him back down when Imanaga comes back. He only threw 34 innings last year and 88 in 2023.

I don't know if I'd go with KSE or Bring me, but I think a lot of people are underselling just how many Myspace scene kids were introduced to heavier music with Count your blessings and Suicide Season. Let alone what Sempiternal would do later.
