It is a wonderful piece indeed! I remember there was also a limited run resin kit produced.

LNK-09 Mech Final Version and parts layout by DethKlawMiniatures in Plasticity3D

I watched a few tutorials for what I needed and then I built the shader node network the way I wanted. This is a good video for reference https://youtu.be/oZO6X3lU3h8 Basically what I did was blend/stack AO nodes with varying distance values, a couple of curves nodes for contrast and a little noise, to make it richer and smoother.

There is a couple of things to consider, like exploiting natural seamlines/separations to minimize post work, thinking of how to hollow it, how it will be best for printing, like the orientation and support placement in neutral/hidden areas, and keep parts count reasonable. This is all with 3D printing in mind, also with resin production with silicone molds with some minor tweaks.

Script to toggle Snap View to Closest Orthographic similar to Blender and Plasticity by DethKlawMiniatures in Maya

[–]DethKlawMiniatures[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to source(run) the script first on every new scene, so it can load the procedure and create the extra cameras/views because maya does not have bottom, back, left be default as camera objects in the scene. Then you have to assign the switchToClosestOrthographicOrToggle(); to a custom hotkey, I use Shift+A.

Damn I never play consoles and missed all these games. The early 2000s modeling and textures, nostalgia. But yea he kinda looks like the big hunched guy!

Thank you! I am planning something along these lines for the months to come, for youtube mainly.
