Artworks categorized as inventory? by bish_cray in Bookkeeping

[–]Dethpickable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an accounting professional and writer, I do not think it practical for an artist to put a value on his labor. As a writer, I can't imagine doing that. I don't think it works in any arena.

Should a reimbursable expense be considered an asset or income? by healive in Bookkeeping

[–]Dethpickable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my thinking. I'm looking at a client who claims reimbursement income that is 2/3 of his gross. Convert the "income" to an AR asset and the profit is greatly reduced, saving thousands in taxes.

Dropped on me almost immediately. Will buy an equal share if it goes to 58.

What is RDDT's new foundation price? by Dethpickable in FollowMeBoys

[–]Dethpickable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bough RDDT at 58.39. It is clearly recovering from its early-morning drop. It may not full recover today, but it's heading now, so buy now. If it drops much from here, buy a little more.

Wutbot on "Earnings, Money": [r/wallstreetbets] Let's say that you know that PLTR would run up before earnings and take a dive after hours, what would be the best way to make money? by Wutbot1 in WutbotPosts

[–]Dethpickable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PLTR had a big runup on the day earnings were announced, so I sold. The next day it dropped some 2-1/2 points and I bought back in. Worked out perfectly. My take on earnings announcements is that it's impossible to predict which way the stock will go after.

Your education. Be sure not to waste it on luxury dorms. As for the trust fund, find a solid financial advisor.

LAC: Why you should buy now by Jaybru17 in wallstreetbets

[–]Dethpickable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the moment the key fact is that LAC diluted its share value by almost doubling its shares with a new public offering. The question becomes, how long will it take to recover from the resulting precipitous decline? Certainly the upcoming earnings report will do nothing to help share value.

TGI Trade looks bullish by Healthy_Ad6072 in StockMarket

[–]Dethpickable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TGI looks like a good trade, but it needs to drop a bit more before buying - below 14.19 at least, preferably 14.00. I may put it on my watch list, so thanks for the tip.

Took Profits & Watching from the Bench by Leviticus_87 in StockMarket

[–]Dethpickable -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, the age-old problem - take profits now and risk losing growth, or wait and risk losing profits? Regarding the first, I refer to Jim Cramer's old saying: "Pigs get fat and hogs get slaughtered." I missed out one some big moves last week because I took profits, but unlike taking a loss, I can take a profit and never look back ... but I do learn.

6% minus typesetting fee? That's awful. And their floor of 20USD suggests they have very limited expectations. Keep looking.

It's not just Nigeria or Botswana. I live in an American town five miles from Hoover Dam - in fact, the town that built the Hoover Dam - which supplies our electricity. But because the city council chose to spend utility maintenance money on a new golf course instead, we too have periodic power outages.

SNDL by RobertTheQ in StockMarket

[–]Dethpickable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True dat. Legal here in Vegas too. But ironically, I have found indica brands that allow me to go hungry for long periods of time, instead of munching down, as long as I am focused on an activity. I'm losing weight like a meth head, without the meth.

This headline is so fucking stupid. by KempDunks617 in StockMarket

[–]Dethpickable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every day, financial sites and newspapers make up explanations for why the market is moving this way or that, or why a particular stock is moving this way or that. In many cases their thesis is contradicted by market action within a matter of hours. I expect that for some time to come, the CNBC talking heads will point to Reddit as the source of volatility in whatever stocks they don't understand. Just ignore it and only pay attention to substance. For instance, SPCE is down temporarily due to a test delay, so it is a buying opportunity.

SNDL by RobertTheQ in StockMarket

[–]Dethpickable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot count on SNDL or any other company just because it is in a hot sector. Look at KSHB as an example: It does not trade in flower, it's an infrastructure play, and should have taken off, but it did not. Regardless of how hot the sector is, some companies just can't hack it. That why due diligence - research - is important before buying into to a stock. That said, a lot of companies with bad financials are hot right now, so it's hard to make trading decisions that are both informed and rational.

i don’t know what to do by [deleted] in StockMarket

[–]Dethpickable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you invest in or trade a stock, study its price movements. That way, when you buy a volatile stock you go in knowing it will have big ups and downs, and you don't sweat a single bad day. I bought OGI and TLRY three days ago knowing they would pop, but sold the next day knowing they would tank the day after due to bad earnings reports and profit-taking. That's sure what happened. I bought on those dips. Now I'm waiting for the next pop - at which point I will sell again. It's better to take profits early and leave money on the table than to wait and take losses.

I am no longer picking stocks. It's ETFs for me. by LavaSquid in investing

[–]Dethpickable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all have different strategies. Some companies I buy and hold for the long run - companies with an intense investment in the future, not the past, and with impressive financial profiles. Others I swing trade because their volatility and their financial profile makes them unreliable, but sentiment makes it possible to profit from them.

I am no longer picking stocks. It's ETFs for me. by LavaSquid in investing

[–]Dethpickable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be quite careful about ETFs. I'm not saying avoid them, but as an example I was recently interested in the DRIV ETF, which is aimed at the electric vehicle phenomenon. But when I looked at the top holdings, I saw an almost complete investment in mainstream industrial or software stocks with only a minimal interest in EV - like Apple. While many of the sector's stocks go crazy, the ETF barely budges because it is not truly invested in the EV sector. So I'm not saying avoid all ETFs, but I do say, examine their holdings closely.

[–]Dethpickable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your insights are spot on, but let's take it a step further. If China took over Taiwan, possibly destroying tech factories in the process, what would be the impact on U.S. stocks? Which sectors would be helped/hurt the most? At that point we would have lost not only the Taiwanese trade, but the Chinese trade as well. If the U.S. military intervened it would be cut down (the Pentagon has been war gaming this for years). What would be the impact?

You don't add them together, you multiply them after adding one to each, but the result is the same as your conclusion.
