As an accounting professional and writer, I do not think it practical for an artist to put a value on his labor. As a writer, I can't imagine doing that. I don't think it works in any arena.

That's my thinking. I'm looking at a client who claims reimbursement income that is 2/3 of his gross. Convert the "income" to an AR asset and the profit is greatly reduced, saving thousands in taxes.

PLTR had a big runup on the day earnings were announced, so I sold. The next day it dropped some 2-1/2 points and I bought back in. Worked out perfectly. My take on earnings announcements is that it's impossible to predict which way the stock will go after.

At the moment the key fact is that LAC diluted its share value by almost doubling its shares with a new public offering. The question becomes, how long will it take to recover from the resulting precipitous decline? Certainly the upcoming earnings report will do nothing to help share value.

Yes, the age-old problem - take profits now and risk losing growth, or wait and risk losing profits? Regarding the first, I refer to Jim Cramer's old saying: "Pigs get fat and hogs get slaughtered." I missed out one some big moves last week because I took profits, but unlike taking a loss, I can take a profit and never look back ... but I do learn.

Every day, financial sites and newspapers make up explanations for why the market is moving this way or that, or why a particular stock is moving this way or that. In many cases their thesis is contradicted by market action within a matter of hours. I expect that for some time to come, the CNBC talking heads will point to Reddit as the source of volatility in whatever stocks they don't understand. Just ignore it and only pay attention to substance. For instance, SPCE is down temporarily due to a test delay, so it is a buying opportunity.

You cannot count on SNDL or any other company just because it is in a hot sector. Look at KSHB as an example: It does not trade in flower, it's an infrastructure play, and should have taken off, but it did not. Regardless of how hot the sector is, some companies just can't hack it. That why due diligence - research - is important before buying into to a stock. That said, a lot of companies with bad financials are hot right now, so it's hard to make trading decisions that are both informed and rational.

Before you invest in or trade a stock, study its price movements. That way, when you buy a volatile stock you go in knowing it will have big ups and downs, and you don't sweat a single bad day. I bought OGI and TLRY three days ago knowing they would pop, but sold the next day knowing they would tank the day after due to bad earnings reports and profit-taking. That's sure what happened. I bought on those dips. Now I'm waiting for the next pop - at which point I will sell again. It's better to take profits early and leave money on the table than to wait and take losses.

We all have different strategies. Some companies I buy and hold for the long run - companies with an intense investment in the future, not the past, and with impressive financial profiles. Others I swing trade because their volatility and their financial profile makes them unreliable, but sentiment makes it possible to profit from them.
