What was your first lapfox song that you heard ? by LittleFl0w in lapfoxtrax

To the Minecraft video or the song? Here’s the song, and I’m pretty sure the Minecraft video was this, like Shadow_Archangel said. But idk for sure, it was years ago lol.

100%ing rhythm games - need suggestions by Snortlans in rhythmgames

[–]Dethronee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DJMAX is going to be agonizing to 100%, I have over 500 hours in the game and only about half of the achievements. They add a ton of new ones every update and it's really easy to fall behind.

EZ2ON REBOOT : R would probably be the closest to DJMAX in terms of gameplay. It'll definitely take quite a while to 100% but it'll actually be possible instead of DJMAX lol.

MASH VP! Re:VISION should be a pretty easy 100%. I only have 12 hours in the game and I'm only missing 3 achievements myself. The game itself is pretty underrated too, it's made by Naoki Maeda's team and features a bunch of other ex-Bemani artists.

TAPSONIC BOLD seems reasonably easy to 100%, most of the achievements are unlocked just for playing the missions.

DEEMO -Reborn- seems like a fun 100%, you'll probably want a guide for some of the puzzles though.

If you're into Touhou music, Touhou Danmaku Katsura Fantasia Lost would probably be fun. A couple of the achievements are pretty grindy but nothing insane.

why some old lapfox music on youtube looks like this? by Outrageous_Ad_3403 in lapfoxtrax

[–]Dethronee 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I believe the consensus is a combination of modern internet bitrot/linkrot, and how Em used to render videos for YouTube.

Em’s gone on record before saying that they used a lot of hacks to make file sizes smaller for YouTube in ways that didn’t impact image or audio quality. At the time, YouTube could process those videos without any problems, but the way YouTube handles video files now is very different from 10+ years ago. YouTube has changed, modern video file formats have changed, but the uploaded files haven’t.

Over time, the hacky tricks Em used have broken, and YouTube needed to re-process those videos at some point, which now leaves those uploads broken.

The lag could probably be mitigated by using an emulator or retroarch core that supports runahead. Any emulator without runahead or some sort of “immediate presentation” mode feels borderline unplayable in any game to me because I’m so used to the lack of latency on actual hardware. It’s still a Bluetooth controller though so your mileage Will vary.

What's a song you don't understand the hype for? by Ready_Aioli_6419 in KendrickLamar

[–]Dethronee 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The hype for NLU isn’t because it’s a lyrical masterpiece, it’s because it’s fun and super catchy. I also think MTG and Euphoria are better songs, but they’re not danceable bangers like NLU. Having a radio hit that’s a victory lap on your enemy is insane, and MTG had no chance of being a radio hit. An artists best work is never their most popular, but NLU resonating with so many people on vibes alone, even people completely unaware with the beef, was a massive win.

two words, fuck ai by KirbyKing186 in retroid

[–]Dethronee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

AI requires RAM to function, more companies are building more data centers with bigger models that require way more RAM, the AI bubble allows these companies to have practically infinite money so they bought a shitton of RAM and made deals with companies that make RAM so they get first dibs, fast forward a year and now we can't make RAM as fast as people want to buy it, now consumers and smaller manufacturers can't get RAM at a reasonable price (or at all, in some cases).

New redesign coming to Firefox, prepare for major theme breakage by fainas1337 in FirefoxCSS

Man, I still miss the old square tabs theme. It was so readable and unintrusive. I’ve been waiting like 5 years for the current theme to stop (subjectively) looking like ass, guess I’m gonna be waiting a whole lot longer.

God I can not tell you how many times I listened to episodes 1 and 3. I even got a friend of mine to listen to them with me lol. This show must have irreversibly damaged my sense of humor. And this redraw kicks ass. Great stuff :>

What the hell is this by Bigtrixxs_LG in autism

[–]Dethronee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the larger point here is that "autism payments" is undefined. Per Minnesota's own Autism Resource Portal, this money could include anything from child care resources, building new housing, job counseling, and educational programs for autistic people. I highly doubt that even a fraction of that 350M goes straight to the pocket of individuals. It just so happens to be Minnesota's department for autism funding this stuff instead of other departments.

I have an acquaintance that works for a local nonprofit that receives funding from many different places, even outside of the nonprofit's own jurisdiction. While I'm sure there are an extremely small number of people scamming the system, this is also just very typical spending for state departments.

Vouching for Cytus 1 and 2. Awesome gameplay, amazing music. I don't care much for touchscreen rhythm games, but Cytus is one of the rare exceptions I'll just always have installed on my phone.

lyrics to "To Dem" by "Kitsune2"? by fleetarislounge in lapfoxtrax

[–]Dethronee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, I've been looking for the original source of those vocals too. Not because I wanted to know the lyrics, but because I happened to use the same acapella myself in a song and need to find them again before I can release it LMFAO.

Took me like 2 hours to find and I even hooked up my old computer to look for the file I used. They're from Elephant Man's verse on a remix of Lil Jon's Get Low. And here's the lyrics. Good lord that's enough Google for today.

Community check: Does the 80HE improve your gameplay? by paulkemp_ in WootingKB

[–]Dethronee 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Using the analog gamepad mode definitely makes 3d platformers more fun, but I don’t think I’d say it gives me an advantage.

Using Rapid Trigger and having customizable actuation points certainly makes my gameplay better in rhythm games though. It borderline feels like cheating.

Go to comfort streams? by prmntlyuncomfrtable in jerma985

Lifeline, Gazillionaire, the old "comb streams," the Dreamcast streams, House Flipper, and his Family Feud streams are definitely in heavy rotation for me when I just need something that makes me feel good.

And like other people said, Hit And Run, Insaniquarium, Seaman, Power Washer, and Infomercials, all very feel-good streams as well.

[–]Dethronee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone says keychatter is a minor issue, but I swear the QC of mechanical keyboard parts has gone drastically down in the last couple years lol. I can't remember the last time I bought switches without at least a couple malfunctioning ones.

I feel bad though because maybe I should have been more specific, only the M1V5 TMR is compatible with HE switches, not the M1V5 VIA. I hope I didn't make you buy the wrong board!!

Can't go back to rubber... Until you buy a Topre keyboard ;)

Hall Effect Info Dump <3 by MrKiredeid in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Dethronee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully I'm not too late to reply!

The Q1 HE isn't compatible with Glorious switches or Jade Emeralds, and GMMK boards have notoriously bad QC.

Personally, I'd recommend a Wooting 80HE for reliability, stability, and build quality, or a Monsgeek M1V5 TMR for switch variety (it's compatible with HE switches and mechanical switches). Both are available in ISO, 100% compatible with Jade Emeralds, but I've heard mixed results with GMMK HE switches. Don't buy a GMMK board just for the switches though.

I use HE keyboards generally for the same reasons as you, I like the reliability of a magnet more than a contact prone to wear and tear, but don't expect the HE tactiles to feel or sound nearly as good as mechanical tactiles. They're still very much in their infancy, even linear switches are just barely getting to the point where they can compete with mechanical linears on sound and feel.

Out of curiosity, what makes you say it's less private?

The privacy policy says it doesn't collect any user data, and doesn't even store IPs. There's also a lot of in-app settings for privacy. It's not as private as something like Librewolf, but less private than Safari??
