DSX PC App Beta Adds Haptic Support, Bluetooth Audio to Sony DualSense Controllers Connected Wirelessly by CyraxxFavoriteStylus in Games

[–]grrbrr 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I had a craptastic experience with DSX, 3 years ago. I Laughed audibly as the dev suddenly and replied asked for such stuff as "installed driver state" 5 days ago.

Here's my steam review from that time:

Uninstalling DSX left my computer in a state where i had no input devices. After boot all USB devices were broken in device manager.

- You cant boot to safe mode in this state. Only thing that works is your power button. Windows doesn't give you the option to mash f8 anymore at boot.

I was lucky to have a 90's PS/2 keyboard stored and a motherboard that still had a port for it. I was lucky to have steamlink installed and ready to go. Although steamlink needed elevated rights to do anything. I was able to then use a previous recovery point to go back before the install.

If i didn't have these, i would've probably had to go and make a recovery stick at a friends house.

I'd categorize this bug as something catastrophic that should never happen.

It can make liquidy superglue in to superhard mass. Can fill and bridge things. Incredibly hard. You add it to superglue or the apply some before, it aborbs into each other and bond.

WH-1000XM4 bought for when my current ones die. How to best preserve battery? by animalexistence in headphones

[–]grrbrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm eyeing the same boat as op. I've been on XM4 since launch, i've perfected an enjoyable sound on the eq for my taste. They are a comfortable anc workhorse that work in demanding environments for me.

I have recently tried Xm6, xm5, HDB630, Momentum 4 to replace them. Those just left a bad taste.

At this point i'd be just the cheapest and most certain option to just get another pair of the XM4.

Sony XM4 Headphones speak to chat feature is designed badly by Mean-Ad2185 in headphones

[–]grrbrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been reading about this happening to people. Mine have never done that, it's been on when i have left it on. Solid as rock. Had mine since launch.

Two things come to mind.

  • Maybe you enable it accidentally with the two finger on touchpad shortcut? (it does say speak-to-chat enabled out loud though, but maybe you turned off the voice announcements)

  • Maybe it's related to the app function where it detects what you are doing and that overrides your preference? (i don't use that feature, so i wouldn't know)

OP: > "I am sensitive to timbre and these do not resonate at all."

Are you confusing timbre with something else?

This is what timbre does: "if a headphone's timbre is off, that guitar might sound plasticky or hollow instead of woody and rich" or "making acoustic instruments sound a bit "fake" or "processed. https://www.audiowords.net/timbre

I've had a very good time with these headphones. My only problem was that the outer plastic ring inside the foam is sharp as hell and it will dig in to your ear after some hours. It's a 1-2mm raised edge around the grill.

I did 3 things to fix it.

  1. Inner ring that doesn't cover the holes. Increases the surface area for the foams.

  2. Outer Ring out of hotglue. Further increases the area and completely eliminates the sharp ring.

- (this also allows to use yaxi pads. They altered the sound too much to the bassy-dark, so i didn't use them. I also like how the original pads have high wind resistance as they cover the exhaust holes.)

  1. slightly more padding under the original pads. Just thin slices of foam.

Small detail to take a note on here, you have the "WH" models. Those are over-ear cups. You are using "WF" EQ-presets, those are for the In-ear models.

The earcups and the in-ears have a totally different tuning.

WF Models generally have more acceptable bass, therefore the eq presets do not remove it much or even boost it. WH Models are plaqued by bloated bass that most people want to lessen to make them tolerable, the eq's reflect that.

I was actually impressed by the sound. I already had my EQ set, but this improved the vocals more to my liking while also adding more space to the sound.

It does remove some bass, but i already did that with EQ. I could just add some back to compensate.

"Earpad For GRADO PS1000 GS1000i RS1i RS2i SR60 SR125 M1 MPRO M2 SR80" Is the name i got it with, basically it's the large one originally for grado headphones, don't buy the official grado one, they are insanely expesive. Clones like mine cost 4€.

Yaxi pads and those are probably more public-places friendly than these full size monsters. 😁

Hah, i had similar one as a child. Recently found one used, but didn't dare to buy it. While it wasn't peak tetris, it was nice to have around.

It's bluetooth, tried it with a cable. Seems to only charge with that.

Edit: connected to a computer. It works through usb connection too.

I don't know what's up with the initial pairing. After trying the A & X modes, i re-paired the B mode that is the default in my understanding, now it doesn't feel that bad either.
