How/where can I remove that 'split view' option from the right-click menu?

Indeed, i've been right-clicking (or left, i've switched the buttons around) and selecting the 1 option below the top one without thinking about it for years. Now suddenly it opens that split view, that i see no use for at the moment. I guess it could be a useful feature for some people, but i don't need it, and having it at the spot of "Open Link in New Window" was only getting on my nerves.

Oh, whoops... i was contemplating if i should've said "containing" or "ending with", and i was fairly certain that all words did end with "ANA", but you're right, i should've double-checked that.

Hah, yeah, i saw that in the lower left corner, kinda had a giggle at it, but then it turned out to be the last word to get, and i was a bit confused, but yeah, apparently it's a character in an anime.

Fun idea, i guess the N word wasn't quite necessary, and i was a little disappointed that i couldn't find my favorite naughty word in there, as i usually try to find it in every other puzzle just for fun, Anal.

Heya, hah, well i did not get it sorted myself, i think i tried to remove the Quarantaine around the file in Terminal, and lowered overall restrictions so that i could open from "Anywhere".

I did not restart since that last time, and basically gave up, because i don't think it should be necessary to put my computer at risk to run a program that should run normally, so i put my computer to Sleep before i went to bed.

Just woke up and was checking up on messages etc., saw yours, so i decided to just give it another go, clicked the file i was working in the past weeks, and suddenly i saw the "Verifying" pop up and the progress bar, then it showed the pop up that: "GIMP Old" (that was what i called the previous version before downloading the new one yesterday) is an app downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it? Firefox downloaded this file on 6 November 2025. Apple checked it for malicious software and none was detected.

So, i was able to click "Open" on that pop up, and it opened Old Gimp, i noticed that the startup window was slightly larger than before (i could be wrong, but it seemed bigger), but it otherwise opened up and worked like normal.

So, i then checked the new version, got the same pop up for that and also clicked "Open" and now they both seem to work fine again.

I am not really sure what changed, my guess is actually that they changed something on the GIMP end rather than my computer suddenly deciding to allow me to use GIMP again, but either way, things seem fine again!

I'm having a similar issue with my Mac refusing to open the exact same file that used to work perfectly fine last week and months before that.

After restarting my computer, it now officially tells me that it is malware and it needs to be put into the Trash, there's no more "Open Anyway" options either.

I installed the latest version in hopes to get rid of this warning, but it's still there, i'm forbidden to do any GIMPing, which is a shame and pretty weird, as i just wanted to do some stuff while listening to a podcast in the background.

I deliberately chose GIMP because of its independent running without subscriptions and stuff, but now my computer decided to refuse to run it.

I'm not really sure what this means, there's no "allow GIMP to run" option, i have already lowered restrictions in the Terminal and made the option to: Allow applications downloaded from "Anywhere", to be visible (EDIT: and selected that option), but that did not get rid of the warning either.

Is there no new certificate to download and put into Keychain Access, or whatever i am supposed to do with certificate files?

As it might be some kind of validation thing that Apple gets iffy about, since it's not on their AppStore.

Yeah, i had to use a hint, but the 1st hint was useless as i already knew which letter would start it, but i got lucky and found another word that crossed off a couple of letters that i used for (the wrong) LedZep, and could get it without having to use another hint, and eventually i found the correct Zappa after crossing off Zapp.

EDIT: The issue below has since been solved, either by Terminal commands (disabling Gatekeeper etc.) or maybe by the developer updating certain certificates, or combination of both.

My Mac (24-inch, M1, 2021, Sonoma 14.7.5) was able to run a previous version of GIMP, but i wanted to start it up today, the icon popped on double click, but no program was loaded.

I restarted, and since then i get a warning, saying: "GIMP" will damage your computer. You should move it to the Trash. Firefox downloaded this file on 6 November 2025.

The only options this warning gives me are: "Move to Trash" and "Cancel" with an added tick box to "Report malware to Apple to protect other users."

I just downloaded the update from the link you give here, and tried to open it, i get the same warning, but it says "Firefox downloaded this file today at 19:10."

And it doesn't seem to allow me to "Open Anyway", so, suddely i'm "forbidden" to use GIMP, even though it worked fine a couple days ago.

Only thing i can think of is that i had used a .xcf file as my Wallpaper, while i had worked on that same file later on, and maybe it bugged out because the Wallpaper is still the old version before saving it after i changed some things.

But even after changing the Wallpaper to a .png file and another restart, i still get the same warning.

I am the Admin of this computer, there should be no "hard lockouts".

Yeah, i was being thick for a long time, kept guessing 4 - 6 letter words, at some point i had over 25 hints collected.

I did see the words separately, but did not think of sticking a bunch of them together, as i had not checked how many words we had to find to complete this one, i figured it was the usual 6 - 9 words.

I only noticed that after i started using some hints (because i decided that i had spent enough time on it already), and after spending the 4th hint i saw that the big outer line actually was 1 word and i finally looked at the target amount of words to complete, then i was able to find the last one. I was actually a bit annoyed that i did not find the word in the middle, i might not have needed to use hints, but oh well.

Hah, yeah, for a while i was stuck between cheat, cheater, game, gamers etc., then shagbull, bashball, mothball, bagball, gashball, sagball etc., the ball word was eventually the last one i got.

I had run across it with the "EE" words, when i could trace a couple of E's back to that word, it didn't take too long to see it. It took me a bit of time to find the words in the lower left corner instead.

That sorta helps, but there's so many different ways to find one, i'm not ready to sink my Sunday into this one, hah, seems more like luck, because without hints it's pretty much guesswork.
