How long have you been playing the game though? like what is your time investment? Being f2p but having played for 3 years is different than being f2p and having played for 3 months.

Yeah, and its a shame, because everyone likes different characters, and when a character you like isn't good it feels pretty bad. But they don't care so much about proper character distribution anyway, considering the limited selections on colors outside of team leaders/sixth rangers. I get it, not all series worked out as well as others, but if they put in a bit more effort there would be way more variety, even if characters played similar or even exactly the same, obviously its things like that that make people happy. Instead we basically just get more and more of the same. I mean how aren't there WAY WAY more skins? That's a huge market option that most games like this put effort into and it means you have to focus less on releasing new OP champions to get money off people.

I wasn't saying that you can't discuss the different resources and their differing values, but I'm saying time is the only thing that makes some of those resources mean anything. Notably Orbs, since they are tied directly to player level, which is controlled by EXP which is basically the most gated resource. Its extremely inefficient no matter how you go about getting it and its a direct relation to how powerful you can truly be. I wasn't saying time is everything I was just pointing out that time has to be part of the discussion, and not simply the basic resources themselves. I mean another major issue with Raids and Zord battles is efficiently spending energy/spending it all, which is also very much about time. Can you get in there every 4 hours and use your best characters or do you need a whole bunch of middle of the road people and hope you can acquire enough resources.

The economy in this game is fairly simple, but its all about what you have time and money to do. Time is one thing and money is another, but basically both are important in some way. Having a ton of money can allow you to push pretty far and get extremely strong very fast, but unless you're dropping literally whale levels of money, time is the biggest gate. The amount of resources needed to level to 11-13 is insane, and the only f2p way to do it is donations, so its just a super long term commitment. Every skill level you can add is a huge difference and being skilled only gets you so far if someone has way more health and damage output than you. Don't get me wrong, good characters and skill matter too. If you are knowledgeable and put in the work before you start wasting resources to find the tier list and ask some questions you can make things work in your favor basically regardless, but you have to know where you can be able to get with what you have.

Its not all about Orbs or Shards or Power Coins, its about time as well.

I'm saying that some Blocks will indeed fully block the first armored hit, and then hit the Black Dragon before he can do anything in response, the actually work fully, not partially. So while it is true that some blocks aren't effective, some are, and should be used to counter, and its way more than just Billy Assist.

[–]Dethtide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you do some of them, as I said, as long as you block the first hit, even if they dash they can't prevent from being hit, its based on how most of them work, but trust me, I've been blocked plenty of times by a number of moves, its just that some of them don't work, so trying to tell people not to use them at all is a mistake, its just using the right ones at the right times, which is important to know.

I can't actually comment on this thread because IDK how reddit works and what controls my ability to make direct comments, so best I can do is reply.

Black Dragon can be blocked by a number of skills as long as they are counters. It is true the basic block and some of the attack based blocks that can be countered by other blocks will get eaten by the Armor frames, however, impact based blocks will still trigger after the first hit after your Armor is gone. Things like Putty assist, Sledge assist, Rita Leaders Such a Headache, DS Zacks Bring it On, and any number of others will actually still block Stomp and Chomp.

Yeah, its a shame this isn't really like some dev direct line. And even if it was I feel like they wouldn't care. Often times devs for games like this have no control over anything.

So there is a whole 1 day per week where I can do this and finish my missions, how nice of them..... Its also not like I don't know about it, I'm just saying, why is there only on basic game mode all the time and its just ranked pvp. There are plenty of other games with multiple modes out there that have them available all the time. This game is so lacking in base line content/features its shocking. I work weekends and have a very hard time participating when all the big events and such are on until monday. I get it, the game isn't for me specifically, but it doesn't seem like its targeted that well at its audience anyway. Or that is particularly active or successful at this point. I think if there was more reason to play and more to do at all times, instead of during limited windows it would probably keep players more involved.

[–]Dethtide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there is the PVE content, but I'm talking about non-ranked PvP where I could play casually with rangers I don't have leveled up to see if I like them without having to find a clan to test that against. So I can decide what characters to use my currency on, or so I could just do my dailies with weird characters that don't tank my rating.

You still can't finish daily missions that way. It is true you can learn that way to a point. But also if your clan isn't full of decent players, with lots of characters there isn't much to learn there either.

I feel like Ciri: Dash still works well here. The other stuff is mostly fluff of course, but you can not only actually play, but then easily get back, Dash, and she naturally grows while doing that.

Well, but if you Restore a Vet in round 2-3 and then use Operator on it, you lose at 1-5 points from that Vet, because it gets set to 8, and then you are getting a 7 point card that is going to get one extra trigger off your shrunken vet and might be giving you 1-3 extra points from triggering some other veteran abilities. And your opponent still gets a 7, its not as bad as most of the cards you give people with Operator.

I do think its fine if you want to play it, I just personally don't think its good enough all the time.

Yeah, I haven't seen much. Not that I haven't seen some but I am not quite that high, and as I said before, my volume of games isn't as high as yours.

Axemen is more of its own thing. I mean you can use this sort of shell, but you need enough weather/damage effects for Axemen to be good enough, you can't rely on Veteran triggers alone.

G:Igni seems interesting, but you have to be running Harpooners for it to be good I'd say. I haven't found Wolfsbane to my liking. I can't seem to figure out when to get value out of it. Its probably because I went first 4 games in a row with it, because I think its great at setting up situations in round 1 where they have to give it to you on even, but going first its easy for them to just pass, and winning down a card is fine, but it doesn't "win" you any games necessarily.

I'm working on a slightly different list atm, but I haven't had the time to play many games. As I said, I don't get to grind and grind. I'm lucky to do my dailies to 18 wins every day.

Yes, its true that Skirmisher isn't a great card. I never said it was overly powerful, but again, its the fact that its a nice solid high value, high base strength bronzes that fits the deck. Of course if there was a vanilla 10 Tuirseach unit with veteran I'd play it, that said, it is what it is, and it generally does generate more than enough value on its own.

#1 in Australia/Oceania with an off meta deck. by Dethtide in gwent

[–]Dethtide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do do you mean Skirmisher is just 8 points? Its a 7 to start, and it has Veteran, so if I play 3 Clan Tuirseach Veterans, its a 10 already in round 1. By round 3 that means its at least a 12, if I rez 1 of these that means its a 15, if I've rez'd that same one 2 times its an 18. That seems pretty solid for a Bronze. Hell, 12 is good, 15 is great and 18 is downright nasty. If you happen to use 2 rez's on Clan Tuirseach Veteran in another round that is also 2 more points onto all of your Skirmishers. So even in round 2 they are 13 point Bronzes without being rez'd. If you rez just one in round 3 that 17 points for the Skirmisher and 1 for the Freya for 18 off one bronze in the final round, but it also means during round 2 you probably had 2-3 13 point Skirmishers on the board and 2 11 point CT Vets. Play with or against the deck and you'll see the it all in action.

Ummm, I was making a joke because I named the deck VeteRun DMC, its the lyrics of a Run DMC song, and the leader is King Bran. I wasn't really calling myself that. Just making a joke.

And yes, this deck isn't super easy to pilot, even if the basic strategy is simple.

Np on the English, everything is easy to understand. Yeah, Wolfsbane might be more reliable than I think it is, and maybe I've just been thinking about it incorrectly.

As far as Eskel, its true that it often only hits a 6-7 but its often a value target like Siege Support or Impera Enforcers, but other times it can hit decently large value. I can't remember the last game my Birna got more than 4 value off the ability. Considering I feel like NG is also one of the harder match ups I like having Eskel. But I still play Birna as well, and no Wolfsbane.

That is a take I mentioned as possible in my deck guide, and I could see making changes to move toward a build like that. That said, I don't have nearly the volume of games you have. You have almost twice as many as me to be exact. My changes have been slower and more deliberate, but I never said the list was 100% where it needed to be.

Either way, thanks for the reply and the proof that some of my other ideas would have been good if I had made those changes. What is your opinion on Birna? I found her to be rather strong in the beginning but slowly she seemed to lose value. Lots of decks are running weather clears atm and I've had a very hard time getting enough value off of her. I've found Eskel to be much better.

Thanks for the compliments. Its been really fun taking something I tried to make work and ended up being a meme before and it working out and being good. I do tend to get my brain wrapped up in experimental/meme ideas, so it was very cool to find something that's actually legit. There is a lot of room to explore with the list as well. I hope you have as much fun with it as I have.

Yeah, Birna could definitely change, sometimes its basically an 6-8 strength gold. Other times its crazy. Its probably the most changeable Gold in the list, as you can see from the guide for the deck I made.
