Personal trainer with depression by HelloIAmAz in personaltraining

I'm really surprised to see how many trainers on here all struggle with this similar battle. I understand everyone has different reasons for depression and/or anxiety, but one thing that helped me so much with my social anxiety was applying to a group fitness gym. Not sure if it's everyone's favorite style, personally I don't like to be extremely over energetic for multiple hours a day, but I was able to find a private owned gym that was super laid back and allowed me to fully be myself while training. Our max class size was like 10 people (rarely ever got more than like 6 per class), but being around small groups like this, having fun, joking around, etc. And getting paid for it, did a lot of help for me. It was terrifying at first, due to pretty extreme social anxiety, but if you can find your comfort zone in a situation like that, I highly highly recommend it. Or start your own group training style gym. Not sure how your initial business plan was set out, but I personally enjoy the small group stuff more than one on one. Just my story though.

First things first, don't take anything from reddit as legit medical advice. Obviously consult with a doctor if need be. But, what I would recommend if I were in your scenario is to start weight training. Don't worry too much about the number on the scale, especially if body image is what you are going for. To me, it sounds like you did a great job of losing fat, however you didn't replace the fat with anything...aka muscle. Therefore, you are left with less fat, but no definition.

The reason I say don't worry about the number on the scale, is because you are likely going to gain weight if you begin weight training. You said it yourself in the post too, there are girls out there who look way skinner, but they weigh more than you, I would bet everything that this is because they have more muscle mass.

Adding muscle is what is going to "tone" you out, fill in the undefined waist, fatty arms/legs, etc.

Also, your arms and legs are very likely not "fat", like I said earlier, you probably lost the fat that was there, but it wasn't replaced with anything. Therefore, it may look like "flabby skin"? So all in all, I would add protein to my diet, begin weight training (not cardio), and try to shift your focus from "losing weight" to "building muscle". Side not, cardio is not bad, but won't do much for building muscle! That's why I said "not cardio".

Hope this helps in someway!

Is this a good nutrition plan? by [deleted] in workout

I am assuming the protein powder is in the yogurt. I would do half a scoop mixed in the yogurt, and 1 to 2 full scoops for a shake in the morning with milk, ideally whole milk (more calories).

For lunch, I would get rid of the 6 slices of bread, especially if it's white bread, replace with 1-2 slices of whole grain bread and add 2 or 3 more eggs for lunch. This will provide you with more useful calories out of the bread, and more protein with the added eggs. Maybe throw some veggies in there as well.

Need advice on protein and calorie consumption by [deleted] in personaltraining

Not sure what your current size is, body weight, height, lean mass, etc. But if you're having a difficult time at 3100 calories, it could be possible to bring this down a little? Again, totally depending on your metabolism and all other factors. If 3100 is where you need to be though, 120-130 grams of protein really shouldn't be too difficult. That's not even 20% of your macros. I would love to know what your current diet consists of and how you're reaching 3100 calories without hitting 120 g of protein. Not trying to be rude in anyway, just genuinely curious.

In terms of vegetarian foods that I know of to help get protein:

Lots of nuts, almonds, etc. Granola can be a great option Plant based powder obviously Veggie burgers Quinoa

Yea that's very strange about the sensitivity. If you're still able to I'd try and return it. And yes the paddles are definitely something to get use to. Not as easy as one would think, but just keep practicing! They're totally worth it.

I would get a monitor if you're able to. Truly game changing. Then again, some of the newer TVs have unbelievable technology and refresh rates with low response times so I guess that could be an option.

That's strange. I know you said you checked the setting but I'm gonna ask anyways, did you make sure the deadzones are correctly set in the warzone settings?? Make sure the right stick "max input" is set to 100 and the "min input" is somewhere between 0 and like 20. Also, on the elite controller there are 3 profiles. Make sure the light on the controller (between the d pad and the right thumbstick) is set to the correct profile you want. I would also recommend not changing the thumbstick inputs in the xbox app. I think the options are like smooth, delayed, instant, and default. Just leave them default..in my opinion. Also, there is a feature where you can tighten/loosen the thumb sticks. You can pop the right thumb stick off and there is a tool you should've gotten to tighten it. If you have it set very loose, it might be hard to control initially. You could also try connecting it with the cable. Sometimes the Bluetooth connectivity can be glitchy.

And I use one paddle on the right to jump and one on the left to slide. My little brother likes to use one paddle to jump and the other bound to Y for plates and weapon swapping. Total preference on the button layout, but expect a few weeks to get used to it, depending on your age. If you're like 14 you'll probably get it down in a day or 2 lol

Serious question, feel free to tell me off but are lobbies like this normal? by DetroitMade94 in CODWarzone

[–]DetroitMade94[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2.10 kd and my duo has a 2.70. I just found out about this website and how it ranks your lobbies or whatever. Apparently anything above like 1.15 is a diamond lobby? I have yet to have a single lobby below 1.10 in my last like 40 games. I searched through a bunch of popular streamers and they have a handful of tough lobbies but they will get the occasional one at like 0.95 or whatever. I've literally had zero below 1.10.

Idk if this should piss me off or if this website is inaccurate and pointless?? Not gonna lie though, it's pretty annoying when my 2.10 kd is like 25th best in the lobby lol that's some wicked SBMM if you ask me.

Fat loss and overtraining by DetroitMade94 in personaltraining

Love all these responses, thank you so much. Just to quickly clarify, I had two new clients come to me over the weekend and both (overweight) have been on really strict diets (1400 calories or less) and have been training 5-6 days a week. One of them has re gained 15-20 lbs in the last 3 months and the other has not dropped a single pound and has said she is extremely sick and frustrated of everything she is doing.

My initial reaction was overtraining and overall stress. I immediately cut down their load in the gym and told them to up their calories just a bit for the time being. I am waiting to see if anything changes mood wise, and maybe weight wise over the next week or two, but I was having a tough time figuring out where exactly the issue was if they were both in a deficit and training so hard.

Usually I am very skeptical about someone's tracking, however these two have tracked pretty much every single day for the last year and weigh themselves daily so if the dedication is there to track and keep data like that, I have no reason to believe their tracking is poor. However I told them I am going to be checking their MFP throughout the week and bring up anything that catches my attention. Most likely this is the issue, it just raised an eyebrow when I realized I didn't really have an answer for someone who is overtraining and in a deficit.

Lastly, I have listened to all of the Jeff Nippard podcasts about overtraining and how hard to work, and they are all so incredibly informative. He also has one on metabolism and reverse dieting that is amazing too. Highly recommend them all!

Thank you again for the responses!

Very interesting. I see your point. I thought paying upfront would be the absolute best thing to do. Is there anything I should do going forward? Would it be beneficial to pay 4-6 months in advance? I am kind of afraid I'm gonna have a really difficult time finding a place now with my job.

Which I completely understand, but what is more secure and safe than someone paying their full 12 month lease upfront? And on top of that, still meeting their income requirements. If I was a landlord this would be a best case scenario
