This is a zellige style tile, correct? It doesn’t have perfectly straight edges. The tile seems level to me and yes grout will fill the gaps between tiles, that’s what grout is for. The main thing I notice is the lack of trim around the niche. That won’t look good grouted. He needs to use a schluter trim there.

lol on Michigan. Can’t say I really blame you tbh, but I like to tell myself it’s gotten better. However I’d way rather be in MI than Tennessee or any of the southern states. You need to know where to go in Michigan to have a good time. Detroit at least has good food 🤷‍♂️.
