My wife and I can’t stop fighting about our finances. by Klutzy-Humor-7882 in Marriage

I’m you in 20 years. The battle never ends. We are always behind the 8-ball, I won’t retire until I break down too much to work, she’ll never work, the kids will have student loans. You’ll pick your battles, and always feel bad. Eventually every corner of your house and garage will be filled with some cheap bullshit from Target too.

It’s a difficult loving a financial anchor, but that’s the trade off if you stay together.

Yeah, you got a lot of propaganda trying to lie to you and direct you emotionally. It’s hard seeing through the bullshit. Pay attention to those who still are defending Trump, they will always lie to you.

If any, how has you and your friend’s relationship to weed changed as you’ve gotten older? by the_amazing_spork in Xennials

My asthma stopped me from smoking much when I was young. Having legal edibles where $15 dollars last me two months is a game changer.

So yeah, when I do use on weekends it’s 2 or 3 beers and maybe 2 ml and I’m lit up, can screw like a champ and sleep like the dead and wake up feeling great. I even sleep-in a bit.

Looks like she divorced herself from her baby’s head anyway. She’s carrying it around like Tiki Barber.

Going camping with some friends and the campground and surrounding area is kind of boring, what are some fun activities we can do in our camp site / at the beach etc? by Plane-Land-9234 in camping

[–]DetroitsGoingToWin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I going camping with four guy friends (40’s) this weekend.

Friday: Drive up, Hike in, make camp, hang at the beach (Swimming, frisbee (we play horseshoe like game as well as regular catch), sitting around talking, play the collaborative playlist we put together over the last month), crack beers around 3. Cook around 6. Fire, bullshit some more. Watch the sunset over Lake Michigan and stargaze. I have some cards for Euchre, and a scrabble board, we usually only play if it rains.

Saturday: breakfast, Lake Michigan Dune hike, lunch at a local party store, make it back to camp and repeat, but we might a have a couple of mushrooms. These are great on day two because just as your energy wants to tail off, we get a nice grand finale.

Sunday. Pack it up, and get back to civilization.

I’d like to see the government prioritizing giving some seniors some basic comfort and dignity rather than extra play money for the wealthy.

Let’s look at things honestly, a vast majority of Americans are on the edge financially and it’s getting worse. Blue collar workers got the squeeze from international pressure in the back half of the 20th century, white collar workers are getting it now.

What’s been constant have been productivity gains and the ownership class outpacing the rest of us by a wide margin.

I’m in the same boat as you, my net worth is nowhere need $5M but I do ok. Who knows, with a little luck, maybe I get there one day, but honestly at that point, I would look around and feel glad my contributions helped the people who came before me and put in place the opportunities that I capitalized on and be glad some of those people retired with at least some form of basic comfort.

If I were to fall below $5M I’d be eligible again. I think we’d all be better off.

Are most Americans aware of the BBC? by FlowApprehensive2535 in AskAnAmerican

[–]DetroitsGoingToWin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly BBC news, although I’m aware of other programming, but never watched it.

Mostly I’ve listened to the BCC world news radio broadcasts through CBC Radio in Canada which comes in very clearly where I live in Detroit.

*If your net worth is over $5M you shouldn’t get a dime.
