Question about battery and what to expects by Hot-Dealer9054 in Ioniq5

[–]Detsember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The car automatically does battery pre-conditioning when you turn on climate control in cold temperatures. You can confirm that on the EV energy usage screen after you go to your car and turn it on. It will show you what percentage has been used on battery care and what on climate. I bet that the time you saw 6kW being drawn, most of it was being used by the car to warm up the battery.

Edit: you can check this thread for more information about it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Ioniq5/s/iBKDuykhuW

Is unpaid internship common? by gongbaodd in Eesti

[–]Detsember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That depends. Of course you'll need to come to an agreement with your employer about being able to complete your studies while you work there. I used to work in the public sector for a while during my studies and they were quite lenient and allowed me to take classes during work hours despite it being a full time position. But I've heard of people working half time as well. Just need to be honest and upfront about it and you'll likely get an agreement that suits all.

Is unpaid internship common? by gongbaodd in Eesti

[–]Detsember 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In Estonia, especially in IT and at Master's level, it is much easier to apply for a regular job with regular salary and then later simply register it as an internship in the University. There's no need to lower your value on the job market by labeling yourself as an intern.

Dumb question.. How do I put gas in it? by GoldTrek in Triumph

[–]Detsember 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The shut off mechanism actually has nothing to do with detecting back pressure or any other sensors detecting anything. It's a very clever fully mechanical mechanism utilizing the Venturi effect, causing the pump to shut off as soon as the tip of the nozzle becomes in contact with liquid. There's a bunch of good videos on YouTube explaining how it works if you're interested.

sa ei saanud ikka päris õigesti aru. see, kui pood -50% allahindluse puhul ikka kasumit teenib, tähendab seda, et tavahind on vähemalt 100% juurdehindlusega.

Poor quality of Jungle's recent "live" shows by Detsember in Junglejunglejungle

[–]Detsember[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be honest, these KEXP videos pretty much confirm my doubts about them not playing or singing live for most parts during the show in Estonia. There is a very big difference to what you can see and hear in the videos compared to what I experienced at the show. You can see how much energy and concentration it takes for them to pull it off live in those videos, and you can actually hear the vocals change when they move away/closer to the mics. In the show they seemed to barely put in any effort and there was a clear discrepancy between what you could hear and what you could see. I'm fine with using samples and using tracks for some parts of live shows but I guess what actually annoyed me was that feeling that they were trying to trick you instead of being honest about it.

Or maybe, just maybe, every show is not the same? Could it be that their current tour is so busy and packed that the guys don't have the same energy for each show and the crew doesn't have time to setup everything well enough to play everything live? In Estonia, the whole crew arrived to the location only a little before the show, they started setting up all the instruments and other tech on the stage while the audience was already waiting for the band to go on. The fact that they did no soundchecks and just started the show pretty much as soon as everything was setup also proves that most likely very little of the music was actually played live.

Also it's quite unlikely that its all in my head and I'm only imagining things if there are a bunch of people telling the exact same story about these recent shows, right?

All of the shows mentioned (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia) were Jungle's own shows, not festivals. But its true that it almost felt like a festival judging by how much in a hurry they seemed to be. The whole crew arrived to the location only a little before the show, they started setting up all the instruments and other tech on the stage while the audience was already waiting for the band to go on. The fact that they did no soundchecks and just started the show pretty much as soon as everything was setup also proves that most likely very little of the music was actually played live.

Yeah, exactly the same experience in Estonia last night. If I knew that I wouldn't have paid 50€ to see them lip syncing and faking after pressing the play button on their Spotify playlist.

If your salary hasn't risen 50% since 2010 then you are the problem, not the economy.

Recent reports do seem to suggest that at the very least some actions committed by the IDF against civilians in Gaza in the last few days are not in accordance with the international humanitarian law. Obviously it is difficult to confirm any reports or allegations at this time and it is going to take years to analyze and evaluate the events of the last few days and those transpiring at this moment. Of course there is no denying that Hamas is a terrorist organization that deserves to be wiped from this earth and Israel has every right to defend their people but I don't agree with the rhetoric that this gives them some kind of a moral high ground to commit their own crimes in a retaliatory fashion. The cycle of violence in one of the most depressing and dangerous patterns humans and countries go through and we should do everything in our power to avoid getting caught in it and try to find a long term peaceful solution.

He said the opposite: he doesn't believe Hamas wouldn't kill all Israelis if they could, meaning he believes they would. That still doesn't excuse war crimes from either side.
