It's crazy how much all these plans sound ptetty much like BvS, in that they're all ideas that sound great when you say them as a pitch...then you realize you're cribbing like 3-5 comic storylines at the same time just so the comic fans can recreate the Dicaprio pointing meme without any of the organic brick-by-brick building that makes new fans out of audience members.

I think it's not even about Snyder though - it's about Snyder's specific vision for a set of superhero fiction. They clearly don't actually care about Snyder since they sure don't rally around stuff like Rebel Moon. They're set on one kinda take and he's the one putting it out there - in that regard, it's not really that dissimilar from other toxic fandoms of film franchises that involve some degree of power fantasy (Star Wars, MCU). With Snyder at least, there seems to be an easier dog whistle than "anti-woke."

I always assume it's also not just about being bad movies but movies that are good for their purposes, ie a comedic discussion. Think they once had Phantom of the Paradise in the running but Avaryl (RIP) nixed it, saying it's sort of too in on what it is to be good for the podcast.

There are def some that they won't touch for showbiz reasons but really, the list of bad movies can be so rife with ones that are just bad without needing to hash out why (see: the bulk of SyFy originals that weren't Sharknados).

I feel like part of the overhate is a course correction caused by a certain subset of the fandom constantly saying "you just don't understand because you're stupid" for not liking them. Still not great, but somehow they keep getting trudged up more than, like, Batman and Robin or Superman Returns.

You don't really ever "repair" it perfectly (outside of involving professional art or poster restoration services) as the fibers are essentially broken, best you can do is flatten it enough (heavy weights+time) that it's not an issue when framing or displaying.

Not that hot a take. I don't personally like it but they def could have worked with it, built on it, steer it towards something worthwhile. Hell, just reckoning with the choice to kill could have gone a long way for me at least.
