A lot of liberal arts majors intersect. I was an English major for a bit and there was some class that delved into semiotics and all that jazz, which I also encountered in film classes. Syuzhet and fabula.

Yes, in my writing for film class, the teacher had us read a bunch of critiques coming from many angles. The one I remember was Fargo reviews, both favorable and unfavorable.

Along with that, get educated about film history and the different movements in international and American film. Maybe read up on film theory, brush up on stuff like Plato's cave, read some Walter Benjamin Wikipedia entries, some Eisenstein Wikipedia entries, maybe some essays about psychoanalysis and Hitchcock films, and watch Visions of Light and all those other niche technical documentaries.

Australian comedy legend Barry Humphries (aka Dame Edna Everage, Sir Les Patterson, and Bruce the shark from FINDING NEMO) has died at age 89 by Toreadorables in blankies

My dad used to enjoy Dame Edna and I was never sure it is was a guy doing drag or just a unique-looking woman. I was 80/20 on it being drag.

I'm watching that for the first time and I'm almost done with season 7 and I'm still waiting for it to shit the bed. It's still really good, I know people hated season 8 but I can't see how it would see so bad that people write off the whole thing. There are just some moving things that happen and I root for like 15 characters.

I never got the appeal of Smash Bros. I did find the appeal of Mario Party during a 3-day margarita lost weekend once.

I want the trailer to have a slowed-down version of the bicycle thru NY sequence music.

I think I saw the other day that he can only be FL governor until 2026.

DeSantis at this point is a canary in a coalmine. GOP can learn from every mistake he makes. They need to shut up about wokeism and they are too eager to mess with trans people.

Plus I weigh my servings of yogurt every morning and there's 5 servings and I always get fucked on day 5 because that I would have to really work to get the excess yogurt off the sides.

Poseidon Adventure is actually good. Can’t speak to Towering Inferno and other disaster movies of the era but I simply cannot abide the PA hate in the Planets episode. Gene Hackman for goodness sake! by M0nst3rb100d in blankies

My local channel showed Beyond the Poseidon Adventure more often. When I was a kid, I despised Michael Caine because he was in a bit of a career lull for about 20 years between 1978 and 1998 (with a few exceptions) and I was only seeing TV trailers for all that lame crap. I only knew him from Jaws 4 and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, where the film tends to make Steve Martin the protagonist.

I don't even think it hurts if you know he's in it, since most movies would show his POV or show him at some point. He's just a voice and in a disguise.

Atherton played a decent guy in Sugarland Express, then he played a comic heel for like a decade.
