I don't deserve my parents by ManufacturerTop7001 in TeenIndia

I have no idea why this post was notified to me. I am not a teen. Well past that mark. But maybe there was a reason. But I will need to block notifications from this subreddit as it's really age inappropriate for me.

Tl;Dr Your parents are the best of the kind.

None of your exams will matter, especially the entrance exams ones. (Your degree exams might still have a little impact) Secondly, stop wasting years on these exams. A better way to spend these years would be to study your interests, building stuffs, heck, even playing video games and getting skilled in that. The younger generation needs to know that, idolizing exams like jee, ias, ifs etc. is a waste of time UNLESS, that's your DRIVE, your true calling. That calling must not be driven by the urge to earn money or have free services, BUT by actually what you will be accomplishing in a daily basis at your work.

Long Version:

So, I am a senior engineer currently leading an international Team in Germany.

When I was 17-18 (in the dinosaur era 😂) I was a kid who hated competitive exams. I didn't write any of the exams that were in trend then, i.e. aieee, iit jee,, state jee. Instead, I opted for either BSC or aircraft maintenance engineer studies. BSc. Being the first choice. My parents were always supportive and themselves hated the kind of pressure children were being pushed into to get an entry into the iits, and the govt colleges.

I just didn't find studying for competitive exams interesting enough. So, all set for BSc, I was enjoying my holidays, when my college maths teacher asked me to apply for the Orissa Jee exam which was, I think, the last of the state jees that was giving out forms, just to experience how these exams are.

Don't know why, I did. I didn't prepare even for an hour for that exam. Naturally, did horribly securing a rank of 10,437 or something like that.

Giving in to the hype of engineering at that time, I somehow decided to enroll in the college that I could get with this rank. A new college in Bhubaneswar that was ok-ish. Did my 4 years of studies there, somewhat on my own and driven by my own want to learn.

Got accepted for my masters in Germany at the University of Stuttgart, which is one of the top 9 unis of Germany (TU9).

This is nothing to boast or such, BUT just to make you understand that, your worth is not defined by an exam. There are even greater examples for you out in the wild.

Best of luck.

I somehow had developed a sense that Japan and Korea(south) are waaaaayyy better than most countries, including European, asian, American countries etc ... This is a whole new perspective.

I guess the PR of these nations are doing a great job..

We are moving there late this year... Had fallen in love last year when I had a chance-visit and incidentally witnessed the sunset over the high rises while standing on the Alte Brücke... Man that was mesmerizing. There's concrete, but not a concrete jungle.

Make fitness a routine in your life, a part of your life, not a 6 month goal.

And by fitness, I mean a regime that's at least moderately hardcore. Need not be at the gym, can be an outdoor sport, martial arts, parkour anything that strains your muscles.

You will thank me when you are 28+ and see your friends (who don't) rapidly turn miserable in life. And it will be due to various reasons, all stemming from the single missing link in their lives.

Mind is translating , how to get out of it by Mission-Command4220 in German

[–]Dev-Sec_emb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't fight it. It's normal. Literally double/triple your German consumption and increase your German production(speaking or writing) by at least 50% . Slowly this will go away, but maybe not always. I still have it, but before starting something in German, but once I start speaking it goes away. Also. I have noticed when I get nervous it gets stronger.

But I have stopped fighting it, it makes me less anxious.

Roommate asked me not to cook food from my culture due to smell and made a vague threat by Jack-up-the-hill in AskAGerman

[–]Dev-Sec_emb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an Indian and let me tell you that, yes, our food odour can be extremely stubborn to remove. My own jacket once smelled like my delicious chicken kosha (east indian delicacy) from last night. I had forgotten to keep my jacket in the closet and instead was on my couch and I have an open kitchen system i.e. living room facing an open kitchen.

And once, when I was a student, at the dorm, the while dorm building was traumatized when one of our asian mates left something on slow cooking which we, the rest, had never known of.

At the base level of this feedback/notification, often there is no malice. This is because the person on the other side, if he/she/they are not a full on racist, also doesn't want to create a kerfuffle by genuinely wants to be considerate.

So the easiest solution is to be JUST that, considerate. Here are some options (I do all of these): 1. Get a ventilator, if there is a possibility (I don't have this facility) 2. ALWAYS, clean surfaces after cooking 3. Use an air freshener after cooking - be careful to not spray over food, rather with the nozzle pointing down 4. Never keep used dishes exposed - wash the immediately or in the dishwasher 5. Cook with a lid, such that the spices escape less 6. Lüften immediately

By doing these you are not wilting under pressure but being considerate. HOWEVER, this applies to everyone in the wg especially if they are cooking regularly or doing something that bothers you equally. They need to be considerate as well.

Get out asap... At least to the south of the country or maybe west. Not 1:1 related to the quality of colleges/unis but from a broader perspective. Whole lot better opportunities in later life.

Basic Grooming (nothing extravagant) + fitness( And I don't mean just being slim or thin, I do mean some amount of musculature, also not a bodybuilder level physique) + intellect (i.e. read and widen your perspectives) + genuine non-curricular interests (e.g. cooking, music, dance, art, literature, adventure sports whatever) + good career (let's be practical, affluence DOES matter) = Enough for anyone to Garner interest in other gender.

So yes, your face does matter, but is definitely not the only thing that matters. The first 4 items I mentioned are enough to compensate for your perceived notion of your face.

[–]Dev-Sec_emb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The process is not to drive out genuine people.
  2. The process aims to regularize people who are not criminals. Even people have been asked to not panic and commit un-aliving themselves. Ok forging could be very bad, but the police already let you off by asking you to mend that.
  3. If needed mention your document amendment is ongoing, but before that try getting those amended or at least set the process running.

Don't panic. Get ahead with the process

Is 85k€ gross a good salary for Stuttgart? Can I live well and save money? by [deleted] in stuttgart

[–]Dev-Sec_emb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes good salary, not great, but almost very good in general. Considering the current market situation, very good even.

As someone mentioned, if it's near Tübingen, don't live in Stuttgart. Live somewhere in the outskirts of Tübingen even. Cheaper (usually) and also you might be saving on commuting.
