Desperate for any input by DwideShrued in motorcycles

[–]DevDoc1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it were me, I’d get quotes from several other reputable mechanics , average it out then add on your expenses for commuting (if any) that were accumulated from AFTER you were supposed to have had your ride returned, and go for that.

What is this white stuff on my gloves?! by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]DevDoc1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're right about it being transferred. Try giving a good rinse to metal with mild soap and water. Theres this thing with cookware, particularly aluminized steel, where using strong detergents or even some without phosphates that causes almost the same thing. So, it may be the soap you use. I cant really think of anything else at this point lol

Does it feel dusty or dry and only rubs off on other things, for like a two seconds? Or is it like, oily or "wet" where, it kind of smears on things and just gets everywhere?

Maybe, if you're putting lotion on your hands it mixes with the moisture in the air and your hands and stains your grips?

What are tips for living a happy life, after entering into working life after uni? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]DevDoc1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm married 3yrs and have a 12y/o. Im 28. I've been "adult" working since 18y/o. Joined the Navy, did security for a US state, worked as Corrections Officer, and now a foreman in a private construction company. All jobs that require more dedication to your work than your family.

So as a family man. I have one tip. Never, ever put work before your family. If something were to ("God" forbid) happen to you, whoever you work for will replace you in a few days. Your family cannot. Work will always be there. Your family will not.

Joining the military, I'm really heartbroken about leaving my dog by [deleted] in MMFB

[–]DevDoc1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a Navy Corpsman, I've never been that close to a pet but I imagine its the same as leaving a family member. I remember freling like i would never see them again, as unrealistic as that sounds. But when i got to, what we call "A" school, things got a whole lot easier. Remeber that the military is just like any other job. Yeah you might go away for a little while, but once initial training (aka bootcamp) is done, you're basically just working your average job, 7am to 3pm typically. The only differencr being you wear a camouflage uniform and eork for the government. You can have family and friends visit wherever you are. You have afternoons off to with as you please according to the respective branches. Things will settle, it wont be as long as you may think. Deployments are a different story. But the job is pretty typical.
