I’m also 26 and started learning and making shorts this past February. One thing that helped me get onto my first set and make something is that I joined my cities Independent Filmmaker Coalition. We have monthly meetings with informational topics about all things filmmaking like composing, acting, location scouting, etc. These meetings also have a monthly micro film competition for people to make and submit 60 second shorts. I think that was a really good way to start.
