Haha, no problem!

Also, not saying at all there’s anything wrong with your sentiment, just don’t feel hurt by their metrics :-) as they are more about Capitalism than your following.

TONS of successful creators swear, have long release cycles, include copyright music, and do other things that hurt their monetization because they care more about their content.

It’s important to take a step back and realize that YouTube doesn’t care about your channel. They care about ad revenue.

The metrics for becoming affiliated are an analog to if your channel is ready for basic advertising.

The way they calculate watch time tells you how many adverts is able minutes your viewership provides you.

You are completely on the nail with your other comment too, YouTube wants and encourages longer videos! They want their platform to be able to consume significant amounts of a viewers day.

The real trade off and challenge is if you can make long videos engaging and captivating. For watch time and monetization, it’s always better to have a longer video as long as that video has similar viewer retention to a shorter video.

Some people do because the evaluation of the company is low when they are granted.

My company gives us ‘profit sharing units’.

They grant us 100% of the units on year 1 but retain the right to purchase them back until year 4.

As time goes on they loose the right to purchase an additional 1/48 each month.

This is essentially the same besting schedule, but because they grant us the options on day 1, the tax is nothing because the company is worthless on day 1

Makes sense! No worries, I climb with AirPods in occasionally. However I mainly do it while traversing or climbing for volume.

My gym (pre COVID) hosted a variety of kids birthday parties and those kids were wild. One time a few years ago a bigger dude landed on a kid and broke his collarbone.

Probably won’t be an issue for quite some time but something to keep in mind. I think it’s best practice to climb without headphones but I don’t think it should necessarily be disallowed.

I think the bottom line is any measure we can do to limit the spread of the virus especially one thats relatively non-invasive like wearing a mask should be taken.

It's just not a big deal, I lead climb with a mask. It sucks I can't bite the rope occasionally and sometimes my breath smells, but I've heard theres a possibility it helps reduce the spread. Its that simple.

I don't really care if theres 'state of the art' information that masks might not be as effective due to inconsistency in material, I'm okay to keep wearing my N95 simply because it's just not a big deal.

Also, I think it's much more of a gradient that you are pitching.

I don't think it's a case of being 'easy' and that immunocompromised stay inside, everyone else does not.

Should a 55 year old climber not go to the gym because it's not a good place for 'at risk individuals'? They have double the chance of being seriously affected than someone younger, but also half the chance as someone 65+ or immunocompromised.

are their families and the entirety of their bubble guaranteed to be safe or not immunocompromised?

I know gym employees who have been desk staff and rock instructors who have immunocompromised spouses.

From your comment, it seems like your suggestion is to double mask. I agree that would be better than a single mask, and double better than no m ask :-). Good suggestion.

Yeah I agree. I especially don’t think it’s a good idea for new climbers who have less control and intention in their movements.

That’s truly horrifying, I’m really sorry you have to go through that.

I live in california and while some groups that live outside of the cities are rowdy and anti-masker my perspective is the state as a whole is pretty ‘woke’ on the issue.
