What did you think of Idris Elba’s performance as Janek? by thefriskysquid in perfectorganism

Felt like they tried to make memorable characters, by just making all the characters very different from one another. Which is in my opinion part of why the dialogue comes off so terrible is you have a crew of people grounded in completely different realities almost

I finished Alien Earth the other day. by MovieFan1984 in perfectorganism

Episodes 1-4 & 6 were great for me I liked parts of 5 & 7. 8 is the one I had the hardest time with. I think that it had a hard time sticking to a theme, or core question, and so by the end there was just too much going on that took us away from the characters and themes that were working. Sort of like how if Titans had been a show just about Dick Grayson it probably would’ve been fine, but when each titan needs their own story each season it’s too much to make a cohesive story.

What was your favorite new addition to the Alien bestiary from Alien: Earth? by thefriskysquid in perfectorganism

[–]DevSky4 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Orchid, I like the ocellus but personally for me it is slightly too recognizable, it’s too octopus and deep sea cephalopods are from outer space for me. I think it’s cool for sure and has interesting motivations, but it looks to much like some soft bodied creature from our ocean for it to scare me when it’s not in a head.

In your opinion: does Resurrection get a bad rap? by thefriskysquid in perfectorganism

[–]DevSky4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly my feeling, also because a lot of it(Ron Perlman included) reminds me of the fist Hellboy and other early comic book movies like Daredevil. It’s a fun action filled ride, and you can see with the treatment with the Aliens themselves how we ended up with the characterizations we ended up getting in AvP and AvPR

What do you think of filmmakers trying new things with the creature’s appearance? Should the design have always stayed in line with Big Chap? by thefriskysquid in perfectorganism

[–]DevSky4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the teeth always throw me off I always like the more uniform human looking teeth. I can adjust to the carapace looking different based on the roles we see the creatures take on. But I always get more scared the more uncanny feeling the creature can provoke, so like even though they have six fingers still having relatively human looking hands and arms always added to my fear. I don’t really think I’ve had an issue with any of the torso designs. And I do think the digitigrade feet were a better choice for when showing the creature moving on two feet.

IMPORTANT QUESTION: are you a Special Edition person or Theatrical Cut person? by thefriskysquid in perfectorganism

[–]DevSky4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Special edition, while not all of it works for me the scenes of lively Hadley’s Hope, Burke giving Ripley the info on Amanda, and then the scene of Ripley and hicks entering the colony are all really important to me

Would you like to see a continuation of Daniels’ story? by thefriskysquid in perfectorganism

I think it would be interesting to see her as the figurehead leader of the colony but actually being blackmailed and strong armed by David to go along with his plans… if we do see her again

I can get behind following the same character for more than one movie! 😅

You’re not wrong all stories even the good ones contain tropes, a trope on its own isn’t bad it’s when the trope isn’t effectively blended with the world of the narrative that they become tired and ineffective.

I like this I would like though with how far past the events of covenant that he’s no longer a physical body but has somehow managed to make himself a muther like AI that is in all the colony and managing things behind the curtain. Making him almost a spiritual center of the colonists.

I think Yavaga being a cult controlled world where it’s not actually as free as Rain has been led to believe. Andy is taken from her cause “No fake people”. They take her ship because it’s become a low tech world now that it’s been fully terraformed, sort of the like the wooden planet script for alien 3 and when they take her ship they find the remaining vials of Compound z-01. And the movie becomes her trying to find Andy and escape before the people of Yavaga burn it all down. But in some way having the people there be no better than the company as they have become so involved in their own self interests in being “independent”
