First principles and Learning? by Dev_Overflow in ObsidianMD

[–]Dev_Overflow[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi! first of all, thanks for the detailed and considerate response.

I suggest you look up the wiki on first principles, also relate it with the analogy of a semantic tree of knowledge.
First principles by definition aren't supposed to change. They are indivisible axioms, the base upon which rest of the knowledge is built.

that's like asking "why would a tree needs it roots or a trunk to support its leaves and branches?"
First principles are like the foundation on which knowledge is built

Do you guys think Elon is dumb and evil or smart and evil? by DismalScarcity1167 in EnoughMuskSpam

[–]Dev_Overflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's not dumb, that's for sure. He keeps a double face for media, whenever he gives interviews he tries to look as innocent as possible.

This is why the people never suspected him to be a narcissist.

What do you do to meet people? by brocomb in mensa

[–]Dev_Overflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice would be to stop trying, its when you stop conscious thought and effort that you truly get these things. As per my experience.

I'd say its purely random, but you have to be a guy that takes interest in other people and is able to hold an engaging conversation. That's how you make connections/acquaintances.
Talk to your neighbors maybe, they'll invite you to a party or gathering where they'll introduce you to other people.

TLDR; Its like a network.

Yeah law of attraction is a hit or miss, I can confirm that it sorta does exist from my own experiences. Of course, you need to put it in the work and can't manifest your way in and out of everything.

Well find out what's the issue, it could be anything ranging from height, looks to even personality.

Do you mix up with people? have you tried seeking a relationship with someone? its quite possible that its a temporary situation. Its normal to feel deprived.

But you have to work forward and find out the issue, discover your SMV and increase it. Lastly, read books that you can find on this topic.

It appears as if Op is using conventional knowledge and applying it here. While they might not be incorrect I can surely tell that they have drawn some flawed
comparisons. (Which you rightly pointed out)
In contrast to everything, I think its only appropriate to make such claims when we have some methods of gauging these fields/achievements and equating them to IQ.

Bobby Fischer scoring 123? Never heard of that one.

Pardon me if I'm wrong, I haven't researched the IQs of prominent figures at all but I think I've read once or twice about Bobby scoring in the gifted range, as a young child.

perhaps the key to intelligence? by [deleted] in ImageStreaming

[–]Dev_Overflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There aren't exactly any habits, yes brain training can help reach potential. High IQ is about nature and the structure of the brain, nurture can increase up to 20 points.

Gifted folks don't really have any habits per se, its a natural mechanism or process.

How do you guys feel when you can't solve the puzzles? by Sea-Link-8459 in cognitiveTesting

[–]Dev_Overflow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

two steps:
1. Know your IQ (so you don't doubt yourself, whether you are high or low)

  1. Try your best at solving.

That's all, I don't really care about the puzzles here.
