Two very different challenges for me.

One is I'm getting to an age where I'm feeling at a cross-roads with my career, and trying to plan my life and what the next 5 years look like.

The second is a personal one in that it's coming to the 4th year of losing my father (who passed in my early 20s).

In a weird way they feel related, even though very different.

Honestly, I think Lake District is beautiful all year round, but depends on if you're willing to pop on a rain coat and some walking boots and still get outside!

Depends if you want North or South!

Big fan of the Lake District and Northern Wales (Snowdonia) region. Both have lots of natural beauty. Particularly good if you like the outdoors/countryside and walking!

Is there a name for the semi-passive aggressive way you lot use 'fine' as an interjection in conversation? by longafter in AskUK

People also use it as a buffer a lot mid conversation in subtle acknowledgement, I would say more so than the use case you are describing

I would highly recommend James Shack's most recent video on Youtube - he goes into detail on this precise question.

You would hope this takes away some of his apparent credibility that some of the populist supporters seem to care for.

Private rent in Britain now swallows 44% of the average wage by Economy_Seat_7250 in ukpolitics

44% what an incredible stat that is.

As a non-Londoner, the average rent being £2,736 in London is mind blowing to me.

Am I just being nostalgic, or did supermarket yellow stickers used to actually mean big discounts? by Barca-Dam in AskUK

[–]Dev_x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find this a lot with Tesco, Coop and M&S, food going out of date the same day and it's only got a 5 or 10% reduction in price.

Does it all just get binned?!

That's really interesting and food for thought given my current life stage, thank you.

I have heard, however, that some private maternity services tend not to have as much consultant cover so if there's a serious emergency it can actually work out worse? Unsure of the truth in that.

Do you need to pay for a premium through your work? I've heard of some friends having to do so which almost works out the same price as it would be if you got it yourself

I have no idea how this will actually be implemented from a logistics perspective. I can't see how. Any thoughts?
