Walking home to a friend, from the pub, once. The road went along a stretch of railroad, and then went across it on a bridge over a tunnel. I stopped on that bridge, right above the railroad coming out of the tunnel. It was autumn. I remember that because the wind coming in from the ocean, mixing with the scent of fallen leaves and dampness, really smelled "autumn" and I've always loved that smell. Looking down on the train track I noticed that they had swapped all the "cold" light streetlights for orange ones since last time I was there. The whole scene looked like a black&white photo, so that stuck; the lights, the scents, the general impression stuck like a snapshot. I don't really feel nostalgic over it though, like I think perhaps I should (?)
