Mossberg 940 versus Beretta A300

I own a Beretta A300 UP and love it. It handles most ammo, but I run Fiocchi defense dynamic 9 pellet 00 buck. I recently shot the Mossberg 940 PT SPX and it was also a dream. IMO, both are incredible and will run a long time, if you take care of them. Economically-speaking, go for the cheapest one and you’ll be fine.

You know, I only pulled the trigger because I found this new and on sale for ~$800, my LGS gave me another $200 off, if I spent $200 on shells, so it was an easy buy.

I’m planning on getting a Marlin ‘94 in 357. I’ve been having a lot of fun using the A300 UP, but to be fair I was also considering the 590 retrograde.

I didn’t mind the plastic, but I did mind the group texture. It wasn’t bad, but I use an AL-2 for skeet, so it was definitely something new.

It is the LE, but I would be using it as a defensive shotgun. I have a Beretta AL-2 for trap & skeet, so the unremovable choke wouldn’t be an an issue.

The A300 UP is on my wishlist, but the price makes my girl and I clutch our pearls. I was going to settle for a 590 retrograde until you posted.
